Bio

My name is Asa Zeigler and I’m a senior of the class of 2026. I am interested in mechanical engineering. I am in clubs such as ACE, Skills USA, and the Robotics and Engineering club where I was elected as president of the club. As president, I organize lessons for students in the club and help guide officers, such as the vice president, in their roles. I did volunteering for the Cleveland food bank and am still putting in volunteering hours to usher for Playhouse Square with almost 30 hours and rising. I also have interests in 3D printing and tinkering with automotive things such as motorcycles.

Can’t Scream. Can’t live. Can’t Help Myself An ear-bleeding scream could be heard throughout the whole sector. A man was pinned under the weight of his ego. Well, it was actually a box filled with parts for the newest thermotask for the backyard pool, he insisted that the upgrade would make their luxury house look better than the neighbors'. Instead of getting a cart or accepting the neighbor's help to move he decided he could lift it all by himself. Not even after two steps he crumbled under the weight of the box. He screamed in agony, begging for help. Before the neighbors could even cross their property line the box was lifted off of him by sector O12's shared T.I.T.A.N.. The man only sustained a minor fracture to his arm thanks to the android but got up without a word to it. That is the normal response if a T.I.T.A.N. android does anything for you. As the neighbors gathered round the man to check if he was ok, T.I.T.A.N. walked away, returning to the task it had previously been attending to. T.I.T.A.N., it stands for Typical Innovative Transient Android network. It's ironic, right how it’s named after an immortal being with incredible strength but is designed to break down after a few years. That’s society in today's world though. It's the year 2051 and it’s practically a standard to make things that won't last forever. Even though the world is at the peak of robotics excellence, potential companies don't have to worry about the long term because of how easily they can be replaced. No one knows that things even have the capability to last more than a few years. A white coat of paint covers a blank-faced, strong-limbed, long-legged, flat-chested android with the letters TITAN covering its chest. They are made with human likeness in function only. They were specifically made to look as inhuman as possible for people to not be attached when they inevitably break down. It started when big corporations gave a few sectors a prototype android that could do a plethora of tasks and provide protection. They got people to continue buying their products by making the prototype last a little more than half a year. Once breaking people didn't want to lose their gardener, plumber, electrician, handyman, or guard, so they bought the actual product when it launched, and since it lasted almost 4 times longer than the prototype they were sold. Sector O12 uses its TITAN daily depending on what they need. Blast shower broken? Request TITAN. Is Air configured Chevrolet's burst-motor broken? Request TITAN. Need your fridge to be moved across the kitchen to clean behind it? Request TITAN. It’s the blessing of convenience through the advancements of robotics. People wouldn't think of ever going back to an androidless sector. The current android for the sector has only been operating for a couple of weeks still gathering information about the people it must watch over and how things work in their society. After a couple of months pass the android decides to do something a bit unorthodox. It gives itself a nickname. It’s not all that creative but T-O12 likes its new tidal. Before it was just under its cereal number, 64-827-49. A name seemed fitting somehow since it constantly heard people give each other nicknames while it worked around them. A few more months passed and T-O12 was working to move boxes out for a tenant moving into the sector. Just as it placed down the last and heaviest box it noticed a black droplet fall from its arm onto the box. When inspecting itself it noticed a slight tear in the fluid line within its arm. It thought that strange since all of its systems were working just fine but elected to ignore it preferring to go to its next task in the queue. Slowly over the coming months and progressing years T-O12 showed signs of degrading. More leaks, system errors, and unintentional movement spasms. It was noticed with growing concern but never stopped working. It couldn't, fixing itself wasn't a task on its list of to-dos. There was one point where someone made it mop their house after it fixed something due to it spilling so much oil all over the place. It took T-O12 a while because the more it mopped the more oil fell. One day T-O12 was called back to the luxury house. It was the same house where it saved the man was saved all those years ago. Seemingly having learned his lesson the man requested that T-O12 carry a new package filled with upgraded parts for the car. T-O12 went to lift the box as he had done such things countless times before but once he picked it up a system error popped up causing it to buckle under the box’s weight. It blacked out for a moment but when it came back online it could only hear the man yelling at it to get up. T-O12 was distracted by an unusual sensation that it could not describe but it did not like it. Unable to speak, it could not yell from its discomfort. An oil puddle formed underneath itself as a physical show of its effort. The man stopped yelling once he realized that the TITAN was at the end of its usefulness for him. Instead of wasting his energy trying to try and move the box off the android he walked away with little care ready to place an order for another TITAN. Slowly T-O12’s systems shut off one by one and it lies there motionless thoughtless and forgotten. Robotics is a gift to the world but people do not appreciate how much it does for us and often leave it to collect dust or break down just like T-O12.
