Coming from a low-income household, I’ve learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and resilience. My life goals are to obtain a law degree and eventually manage my own law firm. I am passionate about using my future success to help others, especially youth who come from circumstances similar to mine.
In addition to my academic and professional goals, I have a strong love for sports especially basketball and track and field. I plan to continue that passion by training and coaching youth, using sports as a platform to build confidence, discipline, and community. My mission is to be a role model, give back, and create opportunities for the next generation to rise above their challenges, just as I strive to do every day.

Living At The Intersections: Embracing Identity and Building Inclusive Communities Through Service.
I am someone who believes that real change starts at home and within the community with compassion, representation, and action. As a first-generation college student from a low-income background and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’ve had to navigate systems and spaces that were not always built to include or support people like me. These experiences didn’t discourage me, they became my motivation to give back, speak up, and build better spaces for others.
Growing up, I didn’t always have the words to express who I was or the safety to explore my identity openly. Over time, I found strength in self-acceptance and power in community. I’ve since made it a personal mission to help create the kind of support systems I wish I had, the ones rooted in understanding, empathy, and genuine connection. Through volunteer work, peer mentorship, and student-led initiatives, I’ve worked to uplift marginalized voices and foster safe, inclusive environments where everyone feels seen.
The change I would most like to see in the world is for LGBTQ+ individuals, especially youth from underrepresented and low-income communities to be fully embraced, protected, and empowered. I would like to see people that are labeled "different" be free of mock, shame and judgment. Too often, queer students lack access to affirming role models, mental health support, and safe spaces to be themselves. I want to help change that. I will change that.
Through community service and future social impact work, I hope to build bridges between generations, between cultures, and between systems that often overlook those at the margins. Whether organizing inclusive events, mentoring younger LGBTQ+ students, or working alongside local nonprofits, I see service not just as an act of giving back, but as a form of resistance and healing. It’s about showing up, speaking out, and creating real, lasting impact.
I am committed to becoming someone who others can look to and say, “If they can do it, so can I.” My goal is to continue building inclusive spaces where people from all walks of life, regardless of identity or background, feel valued and supported.
In everything I do, I lead with empathy, intention, and the belief that community is one of the most powerful forces for change. My identity has shaped my perspective, but service has shaped my purpose. And I’m just getting started.

Fighting through fatigue... I am someone who values education deeply not just as a path to a career, but as a tool for personal growth, resilience, and empowerment. My journey has not been easy, but every challenge I’ve faced has taught me something valuable and strengthened my commitment to learning and building a better future.
One of the biggest adversities I’ve had to overcome is growing up in a low-income household while pursuing my education. As a first-generation college student, I’ve had to navigate unfamiliar systems on my own, everything from financial aid and enrollment to balancing academic and personal responsibilities. It often feels like I have to work twice as hard just to stay on track. At times, I’ve questioned whether I could continue, especially when I see the sacrifices my mom makes to help support my education. But I keep going because I know that education is key to creating better opportunities for both of us.
In addition to financial challenges, I have also struggled with anemia, a blood disorder that affects my energy levels and overall health. Living with anemia has made school even more difficult. There have been many days where I felt physically drained, unable to concentrate, or too weak to get through the day. It’s frustrating to know your mind wants to succeed, but your body struggles to keep up. Despite this, I’ve pushed forward, determined not to let my health define my future. I have had to fight through to sustain and the track and basketball court.
Living with anemia has opened my eyes to how many people silently struggle with blood disorders that are often misunderstood or overlooked. That’s why I am passionate about raising awareness. I want others dealing with anemia, or any chronic condition, to know they’re not alone. I believe in the power of sharing personal experiences to educate others and reduce stigma. Whether it’s through community outreach, writing, or simply speaking up when the opportunity arises, I hope to be a voice that brings more attention to these invisible battles.
My experiences have shaped me into someone who is determined, adaptable, and resilient. I’ve learned that perseverance in the face of adversity is what creates strength. I’m committed to using my voice and my journey to inspire others to keep going, no matter the obstacles they face. As a woman, I hope to be a voice for underrepresented communities, advocate for equitable care, and inspire other young women.

Giving back where it counts... I am someone who values education deeply, not just as a path to a career, but as a tool for personal growth, resilience, and empowerment. My journey has not been easy, but every challenge I’ve faced has taught me something valuable and reinforced my commitment to learning and building a better future.
One of the biggest adversities I’ve had to overcome is growing up in a low-income household while pursuing my education in the public school system. As a first-generation college student, I have had to navigate unfamiliar systems on my own everything from applying to colleges and financial aid, networking, volunteering, to balancing academics and personal responsibilities. It often feels like I have to work twice as hard just to keep up and sometimes life gets hard. Unlike some of my peers, I don’t have a financial safety net or a family legacy of higher education to rely on. What I do have is determination, and a deep belief that education can transform my life.
There have been moments when I questioned whether I could continue, especially when I see how hard my mom works to support my education. She has made countless sacrifices, and I carry her hopes with me every day. Her strength inspires me to keep pushing forward, not just for myself, but for the both of us.
My decision to pursue a degree in healthcare comes from a desire to serve others in a meaningful way. I’ve seen firsthand how access to quality healthcare can change lives, and I want to be part of that change. I’m drawn to the healthcare field because it combines science, compassion, and a strong sense of purpose.
As a woman in this field, I hope to be a voice for underrepresented communities, advocate for equitable care, and inspire other young women to pursue careers in science and medicine.
I want to break barriers and challenge stereotypes not only by becoming a healthcare professional, but by uplifting others along the way. My goal is to make a positive impact, whether it’s through direct patient care, community outreach, or mentorship. My life has taught me the value of perseverance, and I will continue to carry that lesson with me as I pursue a career that allows me to care for others, give back to my under served community, and help create a more compassionate healthcare system.

Just keep swimming... I am someone who values education deeply, not just as a path to my career, but as a stepped stone for personal growth, resilience, and empowerment. My journey has not been easy coming up, but every challenge I’ve faced has taught me something valuable and reinforced my commitment to learning and building a better future.
One of the biggest adversities I’ve had to overcome is growing up in a low-income household while pursuing my education. As a first-generation college student, I have had to navigate unfamiliar systems on my own, everything from applying to colleges and financial aid, to balancing academics and personal responsibilities while my mom worked. She holds me to a high standard that I now hold myself. She taught me the ropes early on. It often feels like I have to work twice as hard just to keep up sometimes. Unlike some of my peers, I don’t have a financial safety net or a family legacy of higher education to rely on which keeps me motivated. What I do have is determination, and a deep belief that education can transform my entire life.
There have been moments when I ha e cried and questioned whether I could keep going, especially when I see how hard my mom works just to help support my education. She has made so many countless sacrifices to help me stay in school, and that knowledge both humbles me and drives me forward. I carry her hopes with me, and I want to succeed not just for myself, but to honor her efforts and open doors for both of us.
Despite the stress, the doubts, and the obstacles, I’ve continued to push through. I’ve learned how to adapt, how to seek out resources, and how to keep going even when things feel overwhelming. These experiences haven’t discouraged me they’ve shaped me into someone who is resilient, focused, and determined to rise above the odds.
I know that education is the key to creating better opportunities not only for me and my family, but also for others in my community who face similar challenges. I want to be a role model, especially for younger students who feel like their background limits their future. My life has taught me the value of perseverance, and I carry that lesson with me every day as I continue to pursue my education with purpose and passion.

My name is Aryanna Boston, and I am a determined and compassionate young woman with a 3.89 GPA, committed to using my future in law to uplift and advocate for those whose voices are often unheard. Raised in a low-income household, I’ve had to work harder than most to overcome the barriers placed before me. But those challenges have only deepened my desire to be a force of change, both within my community and beyond.
Growing up, I witnessed how unfair the world can be how opportunities often depend more on where you come from than on your potential. I saw family members struggle with housing, access to education, and legal issues that could have been resolved more easily if only they’d had the right resources. I’ve also seen peers give up on their dreams because no one told them they mattered. That’s what drives me the belief that everyone deserves a chance and that I can be someone who helps open those doors.
I plan to pursue a law degree with the long-term goal of opening my own law firm that specializes in supporting underserved communities, especially low-income families and at-risk youth. Too often, people in vulnerable situations are overlooked or taken advantage of simply because they can’t afford proper legal representation. I want to change that. I want to be the person standing in the gap, ensuring that justice isn’t reserved for the privileged, but accessible to everyone.
Alongside my academic achievements, I have always been passionate about giving back. I’ve spent time mentoring younger students, volunteering at community events, and staying involved in youth sports like basketball and track and field. These experiences have taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of teamwork skills I plan to carry with me into the courtroom and beyond. I also hope to continue coaching in the future, using sports as a tool to connect with and empower young people.
I don’t just want a career; I want a mission. I want to use my platform as a lawyer to not only fight legal battles but also invest in the next generation. Eventually, I plan to start a nonprofit organization that provides legal aid, educational support, mentorship, and scholarships to inner-city youth who want more for themselves but don’t yet know how to get there. I want to show them what’s possible.
Success to me isn’t just about titles or degrees it’s about service. It’s about going back to the same neighborhoods I grew up in and being a resource, a mentor, and a guide. I want to host legal clinics, lead “Know Your Rights” workshops, and be a trusted face in my community. I want to offer support to young girls who remind me of myself smart, capable, and just waiting for someone to believe in them.
Every day I strive to be that someone. My GPA reflects not just academic ability but also my dedication, time management, and drive to succeed against the odds. I know the path I’ve chosen isn’t easy, but I’m not afraid of hard work. I’m ready to rise, not just for myself but for everyone I represent. With the support of this scholarship, I will be one step closer to making that vision a reality.

Living, Loving, Laughing, Learning: A Legacy I Hope to Honor. Black Girl Magic.
The first time I stepped onto a high school basketball court, I was nervous, unsure if I belonged there. But the moment I heard my teammates calling my name and felt the energy of the game there was a rush, I knew I had found my second home. That same rush has carried me through season after season of varsity basketball and varsity track and field, where I learned that success isn’t just measured in wins, but in consistency, hard work, resilience, and most importantly showing up for others.
My name is Aryanna Boston, and I am a high school senior with a 3.89 GPA. I come from a low-income, single parent household, where working hard and pushing through adversity are everyday lessons I witnessed through my mom.
I’ve been running track since I was five years old, and the sport has taught me discipline, how to take care of my physical and mental health, and how to push beyond limits, even when no one is watching. Athletics has shaped the way I approach every challenge in life; Running has shaped my life. I start everyday with focus, grit, and heart.
I’ve learned to balance my academics, athletics, and community involvement with purpose and a goal. Whether I’m leading drills at practice, warming up for a 400 meter race, mentoring younger athletes, or volunteering at local food drives and youth programs and track clubs, I aim to lead with heart and impact.
Kalia D. Davis’ legacy speaks deeply to me. Like her, I believe in striving for excellence in everything I do academically, athletically, and personally. I’ve always been someone my peers can count on for encouragement, a helping hand, or even just a good laugh on a hard day. I’m inspired by Kalia’s passion, her dedication to community, and her ability to shine in multiple areas of life.
This fall, I will attend Xavier University of Louisiana, where I plan to pursue a degree in political science with the goal of becoming an attorney.
I plan to pursue a law degree and eventually manage my own firm, while also giving back by coaching and mentoring youth especially young girls like my current self who need to see what’s possible. This scholarship would not only ease the financial strain of pursuing higher education, but it would also serve as a reminder that I will carry Kalia’s legacy of ambition, kindness, and impact forward with me.
I hope to honor her memory by continuing to live, love, laugh, and learn just like she did.
