John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to make a difference somehow. As a child, my grandfather always supported me in anything I wanted to do with my life. He was a civil engineer before he moved to the United States from El Salvador, which led to the engineering pathway. After he passed away when I was in 8th grade, I knew that this was what I wanted to do as a way to keep part of him with me.
Because of this, I plan on furthering my education in STEM and studying mechanical engineering in college. I want to use my knowledge to help design and build robots that can help people with tasks that would otherwise be harder to do, such as handling toxic substances and lifting very heavy loads. I want to get at least a bachelor's degree because that is the minimum education requirement for most, if not all, engineers. If I can, I would like to get a master's degree so that I can increase my odds of getting a job in my chosen field of study.
I know that this is hard to accomplish, but I know that with determination and a growth mindset, I can do anything I put my mind to.
Learner SAT Tutoring Scholarship
To prepare for the SAT, I am dedicated to attending an SAT prep class every day at my school. This daily commitment not only helps me build a solid foundation of skills and strategies essential for success on the test but also allows me to actively engage with the material in a structured environment. Being surrounded by my peers who share similar goals fosters a sense of camaraderie and motivation that encourages all of us to strive for our best.
In addition to my daily classes, I plan to start taking the SAT in my sophomore year of high school. I recognize that beginning this process earlier than my classmates will give me a significant advantage. By familiarizing myself with the exam format ahead of time, I can reduce anxiety and gain valuable experience that will ultimately contribute to improving my scores. This proactive approach will not only help me understand the types of questions I can expect but also provide me with an opportunity to identify areas where I need to focus my studies more intensively.
My long-term goal is to achieve a score of at least 1300 by the time I reach my senior year. I know this is an ambitious target, but I am committed to making it a reality. I understand that reaching this score will require consistent effort, determination, and a strategic study plan. I am prepared to put in the hard work necessary, including dedicating time to studying outside of class, taking regular practice tests to track my progress, and seeking help when I encounter challenging material. Furthermore, developing good time management skills will play a crucial role in my preparation. Balancing schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and my SAT prep can be challenging, but I am determined to create a schedule that allows me to allocate sufficient time for each responsibility. I plan to utilize weekends and school breaks to deepen my study efforts and to revisit more difficult topics to ensure that I am fully prepared.
With dedication and the right preparation, I am confident that I can reach my target score, which would open up a multitude of opportunities for my future college applications. Achieving this score will enable me to apply to a wider range of colleges and universities, many of which require competitive SAT scores for admission. If I stay committed to these tasks over time, balancing my studies with my SAT preparation, and remain resilient in facing any challenges that come my way, I believe that I will not only improve my SAT score but also develop essential skills that will benefit me throughout my academic journey and beyond. My efforts today will pave the path for a successful future.
Tebra Laney Hopson All Is Well Scholarship
When I attend college, I aim to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, which is the minimum educational requirement for becoming an engineer. Pursuing a degree in this field has been a long-standing goal of mine, driven by my fascination with how things work and the desire to contribute to technological advancements. Electrical engineering is a discipline that combines creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills, which I find incredibly appealing. The more I learned about electrical engineering, the more I realized its profound impact on various sectors, including healthcare, telecommunications, renewable energy, and transportation. Each of these areas relies heavily on electrical engineers to innovate and improve the technologies we depend on. In college, I plan to immerse myself in a curriculum that covers the fundamental principles of electrical engineering while also exploring specialized areas such as power systems, electronics, and control systems. I believe that a solid foundation in these topics will equip me with the knowledge necessary to tackle real-world engineering challenges. Additionally, hands-on experience through labs and projects will deepen my understanding and allow me to apply theoretical concepts to practical applications. I am particularly excited about the prospect of engaging in projects that involve circuit design and renewable energy solutions. The growing emphasis on sustainability and green energy solutions makes this an opportune time to enter the field. Networking and collaboration are essential aspects of the engineering profession that I am eager to engage in as well. I look forward to participating in group projects and working alongside peers who share my interests. These interactions will not only enhance my learning experience but also help me develop crucial teamwork and communication skills. Engaging with faculty members, attending workshops, and participating in engineering clubs will further enrich my understanding and provide additional opportunities to hone my skills. I also recognize the importance of internships and co-op programs during my college education. Gaining practical experience in a professional setting will give me insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of an electrical engineer and help me build a network of industry contacts. By working in real-world environments, I can apply my classroom learning to solve actual engineering problems, making me a more competent and marketable candidate upon graduation. Ultimately, my goal is not only to earn my bachelor's degree but also to make a meaningful contribution to the electrical engineering field. Whether I work on developing cutting-edge technologies or improving existing systems, I want my work to have a lasting impact on society. I aspire to be part of a generation of engineers who prioritize innovation and sustainability, ensuring that our technological advancements align with the need for a more sustainable future. In conclusion, pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is not just a career choice for me; it is a passion driven by curiosity and a desire to contribute to society. The journey through college will be filled with challenges and learning opportunities, each of which will prepare me to become a successful engineer dedicated to making a difference in the world.
