Bio

My life goals are to be completely satisfied with my life and the mark that I'd leave on the people in my life. I don't want very much. I want a stable career so that I can provide for my family. I want a stable relationship with my family and friends because they are very important to me. Lastly, I need a strong relationship with God because he has brought me to this point in my life.

"We buy our way out of jail but we can't buy freedom. We'll buy a lot of clothes but we don't really need em. Things we buy to cover up what's inside." I chose the song All Falls Down by Syleena Johnson and Kanye. This song really opens up my eyes to the obscurities of our society. The black man has been down for so long. Society looks at us as gangsters, crackheads, and angry and violent people. All we want, as people, is to have equality. That means respect and fair treatment to all regardless of their skin color.

I am a slave.... I am a slave to society..... I am hated by a society that doesn't think that I belong here. I grew up and was blessed with the gift of being melanated. My brown skin glistens in the sun and shines like a rare jewel. I am still here despite all of these troubling times. I'm strong and persistent. I keep a smile on my face because my ancestors fought for me. I should be grateful and happy that times have changed. But have they? I am a slave to society. It deems me worthless. My life is worth no more than a grain of sand. I was hand-crafted by God and molded into a beautiful black queen who deserves the world but receives less than a quarter of it. I deserve to be here. I am a black woman who advocates for Women's Rights, a feminist you can say. I currently attend Spring Early College Academy where I am enrolled in both high school and college (we're partnered with LoneStar North-Harris). Every day I am constantly being monitored by my teachers and administrators. It's very competitive there. I push myself too hard because I don't want to let myself or my family down. I'm afraid of failure, but who isn't? I always am comparing myself with others, whether it be rank or GPA or better test score. I tend to get discouraged sometimes because I feel as though I'm not as smart as some of my peers. When I do get discouraged I just think about why I'm here in the first place. That is to do something that's going to eventually improve the world. Getting an education is very crucial. It enables you to be apart of the future of America. I have something to prove while on this earth. I have to make something out of myself. Graduating college, following in both of my parents' footsteps, getting a well paying job, not being another statistic. As a black female in America, I am looked down upon by the majority. But by accomplishing all of my goals, I shall prove all of my doubters wrong. I will show them that I belong here and I will gladly represent my people. Through my career in public policy I will thoroughly execute my thoughts and visions. This world needs to change. We need competent leaders and innovative thinkers. We need a more diverse government. We need our opinions to be heard and taken into consideration. I have what it takes to push the world a little closer to true greatness. I will speak up and speak out. I will speak for all people and make sure that they benefit from future changes. I hope to achieve equal rights. This is something that is very important to me. Imagine all that the human race could accomplish if men and women were equal. I would also make harsher rules referring to littering and carbon emissions. I would encourage electric cars and make America go green because people don't see the severity that pollution has on this world. Thank you for reading my scholarship application.
