Due to discrimination in this world and the continued oppression of black people especially black women, they do not get the same healthcare treatment they deserve compared to their white counterparts. There are racist healthcare services and doctors out there who treat us less than simply because they believe we are inferior to them. Black Women have been known to get treated poorly especially when it comes to giving birth, the lack of medical attention and need is highly unacceptable, and our lives are at risk. Based on /www.npr.org/sections/ black patients have had their complaints and symptoms dismissed. We need more black doctors in the medical field to care for minority patients because the lack of care for us is critical. I want to be able to be that doctor to step in and take care of my patients no matter what background and make sure their comfortable and have every attention they need. I also want them to know that I am a black woman who knows what this field is capable of, and they would not be alone under any circumstance. The way minorities are treated is bad enough. The way we do not even have a fling of medical attention toward us in the hospitals is angering because we are dying. Also according to forbes.com black women have complications with giving birth and usually they die due to systematic problems and race relation assumptions. We need black men and women in the field who are willing to care and do everything they can to protect and help save black lives. People only care about black lives when it benefits them but not when it's important the most and we are all sick of it. Sick and tired of black women being abused mentally, physically, and especially when it comes to their health which comes first always!! I want to go to college for a change and change the workforce around. No more discrimination against anyone especially black women.

The greatest adversity I’ve faced was struggling with tests and classwork in 6th grade. At the beginning of the school year, I had A’s and B’s and I was passing with flying colors. The teachers had no issue with me and I was an outstanding student. Until during the middle of the school year I started to fall a little bit. During math and English class, I would always get distracted by my friends and phone. I would argue, play around with students, and didn’t realize my grades were slipping. Although I was a great and generous sweet person, my teachers had to pull me aside a couple of times to talk about my behavior, grades, and even phone calls home. Mrs. Boleyn, my math teacher had to move me and shush me a couple of times because I couldn’t drop an argument. I got so caught up with drama and ridiculousness that I couldn’t even focus on myself. At home, my parents didn’t know much of what was going on so I decided to try to get myself together. I started turning in work and getting extra help. Although my grades improved somewhat in math class, my mom did find out and was wondering what the issue was. We both had a conversation and agreed to focus in class and bring up my grades in math and English. It’s so easy to get distracted and miss lessons in class. It’s easy to get distracted with anything but a push is needed to get you out of the hole. Mrs. Bustamantes my English teacher set up conferences and sent emails. She and my mom knew I had potential and knew I could do the work so they both stayed in contact. This helped me stay on task and whenever I had a problem with grades I would always talk with her. If something serious happened with my grades she would contact my mom. I learned a big lesson and that is no matter what wall you hit there are always other ways to go around that wall. Instead of letting my grades continue to fall, I got help and I continued to communicate with my teachers so that I can succeed in those classes. No matter what disability, ethnicity, background, or language we embrace that will not stop us from breaking barriers. Whether those barriers or adversities are big or small we can always get help or find other ways to fix them. Due, to finding other solutions my life was impacted because I was able to pass tests and get good grades. I was able to pass the 6th grade and was well prepared for the 7th grade. A little help or push can get you where you need to be. In doing so, also strive to be different and don’t be afraid to take the next leap. Dare to be different than others and challenge those adversity’s you face in life.
