FIAH Scholarship
I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, and come from a long line of veterans. My father was in the military for 30 years, my brother for almost 20 now, i
I was in for 8. My wife was also in the Air Force, and that is how we met. I left the military to create a better life for me and my family. Ive always loved art, but didnt know how to make a carrer out of it until I met a traveling welder. Getting this scholarship would greatly help me in pursuing my dream to become a welder. My dream is to make a better life for my children and my wife. We have 2 kids, the first is my beautiful little girl who just turned 5 and the second is my son who is almost 6 months old now. He was recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, which is a chronic illness, we found this out when he was about 1 month old. The first month of his life was very scary, he was borderline failure to thrive, he was losing a consistent amount of weight. With this diagnosis it has been difficult saving money, with all the hospital visits, tests and lab work that had to be done. Not only that, but even though we are considered under the poverty line, my social security number was stolen, no one has been willing to help me with this situation so we have been denied any sort of federal aid.. This is one of my main driving factors to becomeing a welder. I need a stable job, one that will not onle help me make money, but a job that i can learn and further myself in. The job where I am at now, ive pretty much reached the highest i can go. When I complete the welding program
My hope is to find a good job, or open my own business. This would open up a lot of opportunities. I would like to save up and move to Arizona. There is an amazing hospital in Arizona that focuses on my son's disease, there are only a couple hospitals that specialize in this area, and i want to get him the best care possible. But right now im barely making enough to support my family. This scholarship will help me become one step closer to building a better life for my family

Sweet Dreams Scholarship
My entire life I have been in the military. I come from a military household then I joined myself shortly after turning 18. One thing you have to know about the military is, we are one big family, it's like we are a part of our own little community. Not only that, but a big part of serving is the volunteer work. When I was in tech school we did the special Olympics. Me and my roommate volunteered to house one of the people and it was honestly a great experience. He loved to bowl and that was what he competed in. We made a good friend for life and im glad I had that opportunity.
