I am a 17 year old high school student. I am very passionate about my education because its very important to me. I am looking to complete and receive scholarships so that I don't have to take out any student loans. I currently take college courses at my high school and have completed multiple college credits, all while maintaining: high school course work, 2 businesses, and a part time job. I would like to major in early childhood education and minor in special education.

Bold Art Matters Scholarship
Art is something that really cannot be defined by one person. Art is whatever you want it to be or how ever you see it. I've been interested in art for over 7 years, since the beginning of middle school. My favorite work of art is "The Son of Man." A surrealist painting by Belgian artist Rene Magritte.
A man wearing an overcoat and a bowler hat stands in front of a short wall in the artwork. A cloudy sky and the sea can be seen behind the wall. The man's face is largely covered by a floating green apple, so you can't see it. However, the man's eyes are visible as they peer over the edge of the apple. When looking at the artwork closely enough, you'll see that the left arm appears to be bending backwards at the elbow. "The painting just shows us about humanity," Magritte commented. He claims that what we see conceals something else, but we still desire to see what is concealed.
This painting, in my opinion, depicts a loss of identity. This is why I chose this piece of art as my favorite since I can identify to it. There was a moment in my life when I was having trouble figuring out who I was. It is critical in today's environment to identify oneself with at least one thing (ones ethnicity, nationality, race, religion, or a particular belief). Which I found difficult since I didn't want to be grouped into any of those categories.
Future Teachers of America Scholarship
Being an educator is a deep calling, and I've felt it ever since I could remember. Ever since I was in elementary school, I could name just about all of my teachers off the top of my head because that is how big of an impression every single one left. I can tell you a memory and core thing that I learned from them not only for an educational setting, but for real life as well. My mom has always been against me becoming a teacher because she believes that I'll be poor and unhappy, but being an educator is something that I know will bring me more happiness and peace than any other profession. Being able to leave that same mark on kids, teach them things, and help build the future generation is something I have dreamed of since I was a kid.
Throughout my life, I have loved going to school and learning new things. When I was in elementary school, I can remember being so excited to learn another topic. Eventually, after I was confident in my knowledge of the subject, I wanted to help my classmates do the same thing. Although most of the things that I was taught in elementary school were simple, the lessons and knowledge my teachers passed on stayed with me forever. Being an educator would give me the same opportunity to make a positive impact on children's life.
I have a big heart and want nothing more than to make a difference in the world and bring the good out of people. I believe a teaching career will help me do that with one kid and classroom at a time. I had a hard time choosing between nursing and teaching because of my mom's negative influence, but teachers single-handedly create lawyers, engineers, and doctors of the future from scratch. They teach children how to behave in society, discipline, and sometimes once in a lifetime lessons. Serving as a teacher is how I can make the world a better place by educating the future leaders of the world properly.
