I hope to one day walk through a space filled with walls that tell stories, both mine and others. I hope the colors, textures, and passion shine through beautiful art pieces where artists, both new and experienced, can find a home for their creativity. Where I can place my creativity and love for art, is what I envision for my art gallery. I want people not only to view, but experience and feel each piece and its worth. Owning my gallery has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I am determined to make this dream a reality and create a vibrant, loving, and compassionate community where artists and art enthusiasts can find a home to celebrate creativity in all forms.
Throughout my years of doing art, I have been able to enhance the lives of my friends positively, especially this year as I continue to create my AP art portfolio. This portfolio is a culmination of pieces representing childhood lessons drawn from all experiences–memories, beloved characters, favorite shows, cherished objects from nature, and hobbies. Each portrait piece captures a lesson shared by many of my friends, reflecting formative moments and the innocence, joy, and curiosity that defined who we are today. I have collected small aspects of each person's childhood and have used materials like watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic paint, paint markers, and gel pens to evoke a sense of nostalgia and highlight the profound impact these influences have had on our personal growth. Therefore, I have been able to bring a sense of childhood and happiness to those who may have forgotten these memories or need a reminder.
To turn this dream into my reality, I am working toward building my knowledge in art and business. Especially with college, I can study studio art and business. I am also actively selling artwork via Instagram. I have sold over four pieces and have many more to work on. I plan on attending gallery openings more often and networking with artists and collectors. Gaining hands-on experiences like organizing small exhibitions and pop-up shows will allow me to understand the logistics side of curating a gallery. In addition, I am aiming to create more of an online presence by creating a website where it’s easier for people to purchase or look at all my available artwork in one place.
My ultimate goal is to create a gallery that fosters imagination, inclusivity, and inspiration. I want it to be a place where artists feel seen and supported, and where art enthusiasts can engage with art in meaningful ways. Although opening a gallery is a challenging journey that requires patience and dedication, I am determined to commit to this vision. Over the next few years in college, I know my knowledge and skills will only grow. One day, I will open the doors to a space I can call my own and share with others.
