A moment i had with someone important to me was with my father. It’s not easy to talk about the moment you almost lose your parent, He was so excited to see me at my soccer tournament. On july 6,2023 my father had a heart attack, the moment where everything changed in our lives. My father and i have always had a deep bond, i was the daughter he always prayed for, I was the gift God had given him. My father is an excellent example of the person i aspire to become and the person im becoming. He is a independent hispanic man who came to this world to show that good intentions is a choice not a requirement. Without him i would be lost in this world, i would be a little girl yearning for love and wisdom. My father has genuinely been my hero since i first met him, since i first could understand the world. He has impacted me in so many ways being that no matter what anyone does to me that forgiveness doesn’t make me weak or gullible. Instead it makes me mature and accept that thats the reality of being happy in life. He has shown me that whenever im alone or not me that he will always be there as i will forever be his princess. His actions of always being there have impacted me so much that actions really do speak louder than words. Being a first generation college student is amazing knowing that im doing it for them and because of him. I do it all thanks to God and my father, it also hasn’t been easy being a first generation student as Im constantly being nagged about school and homework and staying on top of my studies. It’s hard and wont be easy but knowing that ill be the first in my family to truly get the better opportunities in life im ready to take all the stress and pain that comes along the way. All thanks to my father who even though suffered mentally and physically from death i know that ill always have him by my side. Never will I forget how big of an impact he’s had on my life. As i move on in life and remember every moment i had and will continue to have with him i’ll always remember to tell him that he is the biggest Impact ill ever have.

As a female being in a world full of male dominance, I feel empowered to be greater. As a female soccer player who’s dream was to make it professional It was a struggle for me growing up. Parents saying its a boy sport, It made me want it more, i played in a Boy team, aswell as a girls team, ended up playing varsity soccer, and now at the end of my high school career, I have received many different D1 , D2 offers all because i overcame the ignorance and male mentality that everyone around me had. I made it a promise to myself that i would be better at the sport and in school, balancing that life hasn’t been easy but i focused on my future instead of the present or past. Being a women in a male dominated sport is a struggle but thjey only hate us because we can be better and more powerful than men. Iam who i became today because Soccer has helped shaped me into the person my coaches and teammates have helped tremendously along the way. Not only does ignoring everyone but yourself help, but it motivates you to work harder to prove yourself and them wrong. Thats what i did. Although as a college choice i decided to keep playing outside of school, Soccer will always be a part of me that will never just leave, im stronger mentally when i play. I was going through the worst bullying of my weight during freshman year, but playing soccer genuinely helped me through it, i strived everyday nonstop to get my skills better and get my mind in the right place. When i was diagnosed with a stomach tumour I played everyday so i felt special in life. To me soccer isn’t just a sport it is a place where women older or younger can come together and play as team to be the best person they can be, it’s a sport that makes people finally be happy in life even if it’s just for 2 hours or more. Especially as a women nowdays where looking left and right over your shoulder is a key to survival, Once we as women are ob that field and getting our studies up everything stops and time goes slowly as we enjoy a bit of ourselves. The moment where I as a Women feel powerful and confident to where i stand. The challenges haven’t been easy in this male dominance but I make it easy everyday that i can.
