Hi everyone! My name is Anyla Paschall and I'm going into my freshman year at UNT. I'm a very involved student (sometimes a bit too involved) and I love serving my peers and community. I LOVE volunteering as a youth leader at Vacation Bible School, and in high school I assisted in school service projects quarterly, and I actually completely planned and organized my school's homecoming dance last year!
I've always been very driven and dedicated to my dreams. From late elementary school, I had a general idea of my dream job and narrowed it down every year until I developed my exact plan and goals. My current plan is to attend the University of North Texas and earn my B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Biological Sciences. I will then either transfer or stay at UNT for my PhD. I hope to use my degree and drive to serve others by opening my own lab and pharmacy that creates pharmaceutical alternatives and sells them wholesale to families in need and non-profit medical organizations.

While the past may already be written, the future is a blank page. More than anything, I hope to fill my blank pages with stories of compassion and love for people. I plan to start this by achieving my doctorate in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Non-Profit Leadership from Duke University. I love chemistry and the medical field, but I also love volunteering and helping my community. After graduation, I dream of opening a research lab and a non-profit pharmacy. My lab will research and create new medications and affordable alternatives to expensive drugs. My pharmacy will sell these medications wholesale to non-profit clinics and families in need.
The biggest obstacle I foresee blocking my dreams is money. I am already applying for scholarships to cover my eight years of college, which could add up to nearly $500,000 solely in tuition if I attend Duke for my entire college career. Once I finish college, I will need to apply for several grants and loans to have enough funds to start my non-profit. I hope my community and other companies with similar missions will also support my endeavor.
Despite the challenges I may encounter, I feel that I could make a difference in many lives if I put in enough dedication and hard work to see my dreams come true.
