Bio

Hey, My name is Antwone Williams but most people call me dimples for the insanely deep dimples I have when I smile which is what I do most.I am currently in my schools' Beta club,N.H.S.(National Honors Society),and N.T.H.S.(National Technical Honors Society).Which basically means I know my way around books and computers nothing special because what I have in book sense I lose in common sense. And in way you can probably figure that out when I tell you I want to be an educator. Not a wealthy job but I have a passion to teach but also to learn what place to do both than a school. But in all seriousness I would love to be the top tech teacher there is not only for schools but also for big companies (that's where the money comes in so I can survive). Thank you for listening, Dimples :^)

The main attributes of myself that influenced my decision to go into teaching start with my eagerness to help others succeed in life. Then I would have to say the abundance of patience that I have for anybody whether they want to learn or not. With that, I will admit that I am a very curious person who loves to learn from others too. Lastly, I think my level of acceptance plays a part in why I know a teacher like me should be a resource for many kids in this world. From a young age, I always wanted to help others. I would watch others struggle and couldn’t stop trying to help out a fellow student, a teacher, one of my siblings, or my parents. For me having a part in something good always gave me the courage to try to do bigger things to help my class which gave me the confidence to do bigger and better things for myself. One time that I look back on fondly is when my school rolled out this new invention called the Chromebook when I was in the sixth grade. Nobody knew exactly how we would use them even the teachers were a little skeptical about them at first cause this was about the time when we were still amazed at how the smartboard worked. Well with me being curious I went on the computer and started clicking on everything soon after that others followed suit. As days went on my teacher entrusted me to show people how to make “powerpoints” which was Google's side for us which confused most teachers to hear that. But also how to attach certain assignments to the virtual classroom as well. That experience gave me the confidence to run for 6th grade king. For me, the hardest thing that I have seen being a student was a teacher or a bunch of students not accepting someone for who they truly are. I have seen people get bullied because they have an Android instead of an iPhone but to see someone get outcasted because of their sex, race or even sexuality is the most horrific thing you could probably witness at a school. The reason why I know this is a major problem in many districts around the U.S. is because of the number of kids and parents who don't see what’s wrong with it or the effects that it may cause. There have been so many cases of kids being neglected by their parents, friends, teachers and others which made them feel as if they weren’t wanted of needed in the world which sadly led to them committing suicide. With me as a teacher, I know I can give every child the comfort of peace and acceptance if they ever come to me with a problem. I will always be open-minded and think about the long-term and short-term reactions that could present themselves in my choice of words or my response to the situation they have trusted me to keep or give advice on. I want to close by saying teaching has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I know with my ability to change with this world and accept new things. Also having the patience to make every student feel respected. Lastly, having a comfortable environment for everyone makes learning come across much easier. I will start off being a pretty good teacher and then grow and mature into a great educator who is respected and thought of frequently by kids, parents and other faculty for being the kindest.

As a Black man in this rapidly changing world, I want to do something that is not ordinary for someone to see. Out of all the careers that I came across the one that I connected with was teaching. The main attributes of myself that influenced my decision to go into teaching start with my eagerness to help others succeed in life. And, I think the level of respect that I have for children plays a part in why I know a teacher like me should be a person they can benefit from while they are in school. Throughout my younger years, I felt embarrassed and sometimes ashamed to tell people what I wanted to pursue after grade school. Not because it was a ridiculous career but because nobody in my school had ever seen a black male teacher. And for the most part, nobody thought a man could be a teacher, from the books we read they don't have black men as teachers. The majority of the books we read about teachers identified them as white women who were fairly old. And to be completely honest we had only seen two male teachers up to that point who taught a major subject so it wasn't a common job for men to have in general. Another downside that I found that was in a majority of the books we read was how all the problems of the classroom were expressed from the point of view of teachers. Book after book as I read the only point of view that I kept seeing was about how the teachers felt and how they thought the kids felt. So at that point, I knew I had to be a part of the difference to change the stereotype that teaching is not only a woman's job and kids' thoughts matter too. From that, I envisioned myself becoming better and doing better than past educators. I want to bring all the problems of a classroom to the light but not from a teacher's point of view. I want people to see all of the problems from the viewpoints of the kids. The opinions and the thoughts of the kids who have to endure all the troubles of some terrible school districts have been overlooked for so long that it is not even funny. So I believe that my determination to become the voice for kids and become the adult that they can trust will not only make me a better educator but also an amazing human for them to look up to. I want to close by saying teaching has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I know with my ability to change with this world and accept new things. Also having the patience to make every student feel respected. I will start off being a pretty good teacher and then grow and mature into a great educator who is respected and thought of frequently by kids, parents and other faculty for being the kindest.
