I’m on pace to be the first person ever at Oberlin College to complete the 5-year Dual Degree program in 4 years while competing on a varsity team. While holding a strong leadership position on the baseball team, I have an opportunity to be a role model for younger students and athletes. As an active member of ACES (Athletes Coalition to End Sexual harm), I take pride in my leadership to promote safety on campus and within our community. I am currently studying for a B.M. in Jazz Trombone Performance, a B.A. in Law and Society, while also earning a minor in Music and Cognition. I’m in my second year as a Resident Assistant (RA) at Oberlin creating a strong sense of community within First-Year students, and ensuring proper functioning and safety of over 6 residence halls. As I’m in charge of 6 dorm buildings 24/7, while also holding weekly community building events, I work to foster self-care, physical and mental health, as well as individual growth.

I volunteered to play a gig this past summer in Miami for a Foster Care family fun day. It was so incredible to be able to play outside for all these kids and families who are working so hard and dealing with so much adversity. I was so happy to be able to provide energy and make people's day better. It turned out it was someone's birthday and we played happy birthday for the kid. Then spontaneously we found ourselves playing and jamming while some of the kids and foster parents sang with us. This realm of music is what I live for. It's never the paycheck for me, or the fiscal benefits, I love the arts, and I love music because of what it can do for other people. I want to take every opportunity I have to be able to serve other people and make their lives and their days better. I also know how powerful music and the Arts have been in my life. I want to take those opportunities and recreate them in younger people's lives. Everyone deserves these opportunities and I want to give back and make sure they all are able to access them. I was filled with joy seeing all these kids and families dealing with so much adversity be able to come together, and I only want to create more of this joy.
The power of community is remarkable, and I believe nobody should be deprived of it. Creativity and the Arts can create Community like no other, and I believe for that very reason that nobody should be deprived of those opportunities. Music has completely transformed my life. Every day I feel driven with a deep sense of motivation to perfect my art and provide the same opportunities and drive for those around me. I would create weekly public jam sessions for my community if I could. I think that would bring those already musically-inclined together, and promote people who have always had the desire, but never took action on it. This would also be fantastic for the younger generations to see and aspire to be a part of.

LeBron James Fan Scholarship
I’ve been a fan of LeBron James for as long as I can remember, not just because of his talent on the basketball court, but also because of who he is off the court. LeBron embodies everything I admire in an athlete: determination, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact. He came into the NBA straight out of high school with sky-high expectations, and not only did he live up to them—he surpassed them. Watching him grow from a promising rookie to one of the most accomplished players in the history of basketball has been nothing short of inspiring.
LeBron’s versatility and basketball IQ are unparalleled. He’s a unique player who can dominate every aspect of the game, from scoring to playmaking to defense. There’s nothing he can’t do on the court, and that makes him a once-in-a-generation talent. I love how he elevates his teammates, consistently making those around him better. His leadership was on full display when he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA championship in 2016, coming back from a 3-1 deficit. That kind of resilience and determination is what makes me admire him even more.
As for whether LeBron is the greatest basketball player of all time, it’s a tough call. Michael Jordan will always be the gold standard for many, and rightfully so. Winning six championships and being known for your fierce competitiveness will undoubtedly leave an everlasting mark on the sport, however, LeBron’s longevity, adaptability, and all-around excellence make a compelling case. He’s won championships with three different teams, adjusted his game as he’s aged, and remained a dominant force for over two decades. In terms of individual and team success combined with his off-court influence, LeBron has truly redefined what it means to be the greatest.
