Bio

Many young college students claim to have goals of pursuing a more traditional career path, not me. For a long time, I have dreamt of owning a dance studio. I have been dancing since I was three years old, and it has helped me grow into the person I have become, teaching me self-confidence, teamwork, discipline, and so much more. Through teaching dance, I hope to help my students learn these skills so they can be their best selves. My life-long goal is to help others through my passion for dance, a passion that drives me to keep improving myself in order to motivate, inspire, and educate others. I cannot wait for what comes next because I know that every step will lead me closer to my dream.

Emotions, whether deeply sorrowful, ecstatic, rageful, or anything in between, are what make the human experience profoundly human. People spend their lives chasing moments that make them feel something real, and for a time, that craving can be satisfied through dance. The innate value of dance is its ability to sway emotions, both for onlookers and creators. I have always disliked the phrase “dance like nobody is watching.” Dance is not meant to be a purely internal experience. It is supposed to radiate into the hearts of viewers, quenching their thirst for meaningful emotions like water for a soul stranded in the desert. Performing allows me to become a vessel for feelings larger than myself. The audience’s response deepens my own experience and helps me connect to something greater. One of my most memorable moments on stage came when I danced the role of Dew Drop in my local production of The Nutcracker. About thirty seconds into the piece, I performed a bourrée, a relatively simple step that gives the illusion of floating. To me, this was a moment to breathe and prepare myself for the dancing ahead. That changed when I began to bourrée, and a little girl in the audience gasped, “Wow!” I noticed her holding her nutcracker tightly, her eyes wide with wonder. In that instant, I understood that even the quietest moments in a performance could be powerful for someone else. Ever since then, I have thought of her every time I bourrée. She reminds me of why I dance in the first place: to share something meaningful with others. That little girl is among the many audience members who inspire me to keep dancing and to share my love of performance with future generations. After I graduate, I plan to open my own dance studio. I want to create a space where young dancers can experience the same emotional fulfillment that I have found through movement. Dance is often overlooked or undervalued, but it has the power to change lives. Through my studio, I hope to build a community that appreciates the beauty and emotional depth that dance can offer. As for the future, if I were to dream big, I would love to dance the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. The emotional depth and dramatic range of the role speak to everything I love about dance as storytelling. Juliet’s journey from innocence to love and then to tragedy would challenge me to be vulnerable and expressive in a way that few roles demand. Taking the audience through the depths of emotions is intensely satisfying to me as a performing artist, and this role would allow me to do just that. In the end, whether I am dancing Juliet under stage lights or watching a six-year-old master her first plié in my future studio, I will always be performing. Performance is not just about applause; it is about connection. It is about sharing something real, something emotional, something human. That is what I love about performing, and that is why I am committed to building a life and career rooted in the art of dance.

Dance is always there for me. Like a loyal friend, it is dependable, supportive, and encouraging. Through every high and low, it remains constant, pushing me to expand my limits while cradling me in its loving arms. Dance is my lifelong partner, and I dream of helping others build their own meaningful relationships with it. My ultimate goal is to open a dance studio to spread the joy of dance with others. Being a part of others’ dance journeys is incredibly special, and I want to do it right. I continuously seek education and experiences to develop my relationship with dance. From working towards my BFA in dance to traveling halfway across the country to take classes in New York City, I seek out every chance to grow. I also stay active in my local dance community, performing in ballets, music videos, and stage productions, each experience deepening my connection to the art form. I know there is always more to learn, and I embrace that. I aim to better myself to be worthy of inspiring infinite curiosity in my students. Exploring movement is a way of investigating life itself. Life is movement, and I am endlessly fascinated by what dance can reveal.
