Bio

My life goals are twofold: to become a certified international English teacher and to break the cycle of adversity for future generations. Passionate about education, I aim to empower others to reach their potential despite facing challenges like generational mental health issues, domestic violence, and the deportation of my mother. My experiences fuel resilience, determination, and empathy, making me an ideal candidate. Immersed in language learning from French to Portuguese, I've gained fluency and cultural insights, enriched by experiences abroad and practical teaching roles. As an EFL instructor in Mexico, I've honed tailored teaching methods and fostered global citizenship. My journey exemplifies perseverance and the transformative power of education. Here's a little about me: I benefit from my willingness to improve, reform, and transform. I have determination and willpower and can readily turn around a situation. I have a hunger to experience more than just an "ordinary" life. I easily embrace new ways of doing things, stick up for the underdog, and express myself in unique and inspiring ways. I believe in equality and easily relate to people from all walks of life. I possess an unmistakable enthusiasm, and generally, my life is interesting because I invite unusual or adventurous experiences into my world. She is at her best when she feels free to be herself--she doesn't like to be told what to do. 🫶🏼Others appreciate me because I am open-minded, fair, and not judgmental.

Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
As an avid anime enthusiast, I find it incredibly challenging to single out just one series or film as my all-time favorite, given the vast and diverse landscape of anime. However, if pressed to choose, one title that continuously draws me in with its captivating storytelling, intricate world-building, and profound character development is "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood." "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" stands as a masterpiece in the realm of anime for numerous reasons, captivating audiences worldwide since its release. Adapted from Hiromu Arakawa's manga series, this anime delves deep into themes of sacrifice, redemption, morality, and the consequences of human ambition. At its core, "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" follows the journey of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who embark on an arduous quest to restore their bodies after a failed alchemical experiment. The series unfolds in the fictional world where alchemy is a fundamental science, but the law of equivalent exchange governs its usage – for every gain, there must be an equal loss. What makes "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" endlessly captivating for me is its rich tapestry of characters and their profound arcs. Edward and Alphonse are not just typical protagonists; they are flawed individuals burdened by guilt and driven by an unwavering desire to right their wrongs. Their journey is not merely about reclaiming what they lost but also about confronting their own moral compasses and understanding the true nature of sacrifice. Moreover, the series excels in its exploration of complex villains who are not caricatures of evil but rather individuals shaped by their own past traumas and motivations. Characters like Scar, Greed, and even the primary antagonist, Father, are given depth and nuance, challenging viewers' perceptions of good and evil. Aside from its compelling characters, "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" boasts impeccable world-building, seamlessly blending elements of steampunk aesthetics with themes of war, politics, and philosophy. The intricate plot weaves together political intrigue, supernatural elements, and existential dilemmas, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats while also provoking introspection. Furthermore, the series' animation and soundtrack are top-notch, elevating every scene with breathtaking visuals and emotionally resonant music. In essence, "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" holds a special place in my heart because it transcends the boundaries of a typical anime series. It's not just about fantastical adventures or epic battles; it's a poignant exploration of the human condition, wrapped in a compelling narrative that leaves a lasting impact on anyone who ventures into its world. Its timeless themes and unforgettable characters make it a masterpiece that I can revisit endlessly, discovering new layers of meaning with each viewing.

Through his brooding demeanor and complex character arc, Conrad emerges as the embodiment of depth, vulnerability, and raw authenticity. One of the defining moments that solidified my allegiance to Team Conrad occurs early in the series, during a poignant exchange between Belly and Conrad on the beach. Amidst the backdrop of crashing waves and fading sunlight, Conrad bares his soul, revealing the inner turmoil that plagues him. His confessions are not merely words; they are fragments of a fractured heart seeking solace in the arms of understanding. It is in this moment of vulnerability that Conrad transcends the confines of his stoic facade, inviting viewers to empathize with his struggles and yearnings. Furthermore, Conrad's journey is marked by moments of profound introspection and growth. Despite his initial reluctance to embrace love and vulnerability, Conrad undergoes a transformative evolution, shedding the layers of emotional armor that shield his heart. His vulnerability becomes a source of strength, empowering him to confront his demons and embrace the possibility of love. Moreover, Conrad's complexity extends beyond his romantic entanglements, as he grapples with family dynamics and personal identity. His strained relationship with his mother and conflicting emotions towards his brother Jeremiah add layers of depth to his character, illuminating the nuances of familial bonds and personal sacrifice. Ultimately, Conrad's allure lies in his authenticity and depth of emotion. He is not merely a romantic ideal but a flawed and multifaceted individual grappling with the complexities of life and love. In a world filled with superficiality and pretense, Conrad stands as a beacon of authenticity, inviting viewers to embrace the beauty of imperfection and the power of vulnerability. In conclusion, my allegiance to Team Conrad stems from a profound appreciation for his authenticity, vulnerability, and depth of character. From its groundbreaking representation to its perfect blend of humor and heart, there's so much to love about this captivating show. First and foremost, let's talk about the representation. As an avid consumer of media, it's refreshing and empowering to see a show that celebrates diversity and brings underrepresented voices to the forefront. "Never Have I Ever" does just that, offering a nuanced and authentic portrayal of the Indian-American experience through its protagonist, Devi Vishwakumar, brilliantly portrayed by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. But beyond its groundbreaking representation, what truly sets "Never Have I Ever" apart is its perfect blend of humor, heart, and humanity. Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, the series effortlessly balances laugh-out-loud moments with poignant reflections on love, loss, and the complexities of adolescence. At its core, "Never Have I Ever" is a coming-of-age story that resonates with viewers of all ages. Whether it's navigating the highs and lows of teenage romance, grappling with the pressures of academic success, or reconciling cultural identity with personal aspirations. Devi's Indian heritage is woven seamlessly into the fabric of the story, offering viewers a glimpse into the complexities of straddling two worlds and the challenges of navigating cultural expectations while forging your own path. The show tackles universal themes with wit, warmth, and authenticity. And let's not forget about the incredible ensemble cast. But perhaps what I love most about "Never Have I Ever" is its unapologetic celebration of female friendship and empowerment. Devi's bond with Eleanor and Fabiola serves as the beating heart of the series, reminding us of the power of solidarity, support, and sisterhood in navigating life's ups and downs. GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
As a teenager navigating the tumultuous waters of adolescence, there's one lyric from Olivia Rodrigo's "GUTS" that resonates with me on a deeply personal level: "And I'm sick of people saying that I'm 'too much' / That I should lower my voice and I should not act up." These words encapsulate the frustration and defiance that many of us feel as we struggle to assert our authenticity in a world that often tries to silence our voices and diminish our spirit. It's a rallying cry for all those who have been told to shrink themselves, to dim their light, or to conform to the expectations of others. Growing up, I've often felt the weight of societal expectations pressing down on me, urging me to mold myself into a more palatable version of who I am. Whether it's being told to tone down my enthusiasm, rein in my emotions, or censor my thoughts and opinions, I've grappled with the constant pressure to conform to a narrow definition of acceptable behavior. But the truth is, I refuse to be silenced. I refuse to be made smaller for the comfort of others. I refuse to apologize for the volume of my voice or the depth of my emotions. Because the essence of adolescence, and indeed of life itself, lies in embracing our true selves unapologetically, flaws and all. In Olivia Rodrigo's music, I've found a beacon of strength and resilience—a reminder that it's okay to be "too much," to be unapologetically myself, and to speak my truth with courage and conviction. Her lyrics speak to the universal experience of grappling with the complexities of teenage emotions, from the highs of love and joy to the lows of heartbreak and despair. Through the raw honesty and vulnerability of songs like "GUTS," Olivia Rodrigo gives voice to the unspoken struggles and insecurities that lurk beneath the surface of adolescence. She validates our feelings, our fears, and our struggles, reminding us that we are not alone in our journey toward self-discovery and self-acceptance. And so, as I reflect on this powerful lyric from "GUTS," I am reminded of the importance of staying true to myself, even in the face of adversity. I am reminded that my voice matters, my feelings are valid, and my story deserves to be heard. And for that, I am endlessly grateful to Olivia Rodrigo and the transformative power of her music.

Ah, Dwight Schrute. The beet-farming, martial arts-loving, rule-obsessed Assistant to the Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch. While some may see Dwight as an eccentric oddball (and let's be honest, he definitely is), I've always found myself resonating deeply with his character. You see, beneath Dwight's outlandish exterior lies a fiercely loyal, ambitious, and hardworking individual who stops at nothing to achieve his goals. Sure, his methods may be unconventional (and often downright bizarre), but there's a certain admirable quality to his unwavering determination and dedication to his job. Like Dwight, I've always been someone who approaches tasks with a meticulous attention to detail and a relentless drive to succeed. Whether it's tackling a challenging project or striving to meet ambitious goals, I share Dwight's passion for excellence and his refusal to settle for anything less than the best. But beyond our shared work ethic, there's another aspect of Dwight's character that I find myself connecting with—the sense of pride he takes in his unique quirks and interests. From his love of beet farming to his enthusiasm for survivalism and weaponry, Dwight embraces his passions wholeheartedly, unabashedly marching to the beat of his own drum. In a world that often values conformity over individuality, Dwight's unapologetic embrace of his eccentricities serves as a reminder to stay true to oneself and never be afraid to let your freak flag fly. He teaches us that it's okay to be different, to embrace our quirks, and to pursue our passions with gusto, regardless of what others may think. As for how "The Office" has shaped my sense of humor and perspective on workplace dynamics, well, let's just say that the show has provided plenty of laughs and invaluable insights along the way. Through its hilarious antics and heartfelt moments, "The Office" offers a poignant commentary on the absurdity of office life, the importance of camaraderie, and the enduring bonds forged amidst the daily grind. From Michael's cringe-worthy yet endearing leadership style to Jim and Pam's heartwarming romance, the show captures the full spectrum of workplace dynamics, reminding us that even in the most mundane of settings, there's humor to be found, friendships to be forged, and lessons to be learned. So here's to Dwight Schrute, the beet-loving, rule-following, utterly unique individual who reminds us to embrace our quirks, pursue our passions, and approach life with unwavering determination. As I navigate the ups and downs of the workplace, I'll be channeling my inner Dwight every step of the way, armed with beets, battle plans, and a healthy dose of self-confidence.

Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
Ahoy there, fellow Nintendo aficionados! Gather 'round and let me regale you with a tale of epic multiplayer mayhem that cemented my love for one particular game: the legendary Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Picture this: a cozy Friday night, a bunch of friends sprawled out on beanbags, and the unmistakable sound of revving engines filling the air. Yep, it was Mario Kart time, baby! Now, I've had my fair share of Mario Kart showdowns, but this particular session was destined for the halls of gaming glory. We had gathered for what was supposed to be a casual race or two, but oh, how wrong we were. As we selected our trusty steeds and prepared to take on Rainbow Road (because what's life without a little chaos, am I right?), little did we know that fate had something truly absurd in store for us. The race started innocently enough, with the usual banana peels and green shells flying left and right. But then, out of nowhere, chaos erupted. Blue shells came raining down like a cursed storm, targeting the frontrunners with ruthless precision. Friendships were tested as red shells were fired in all directions, and that one sneaky pal managed to snag the coveted Bullet Bill power-up not once, not twice, but thrice! But amidst the madness, there I was, cruising along in first place, my heart pounding with a mix of exhilaration and sheer terror. Victory was within my grasp, and nothing could stop me now! Or so I thought. Just as the finish line came into view, disaster struck. A stray green shell, launched by none other than my so-called friend who had been languishing in last place, came hurtling towards me like a vengeful green missile. And in a moment of panic, I swerved right into the path of an incoming blue shell, sealing my fate in a spectacular explosion of chaos and despair. As my kart spun out of control and I watched helplessly as my rivals zoomed past me, laughter erupted all around. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated hilarity—a reminder that in the world of Mario Kart, anything can happen, and no lead is ever truly safe. And so, my friends, it is with great pride and a touch of humility that I declare Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as my ultimate go-to game for multiplayer madness. For in its chaotic embrace, friendships are forged, rivalries are born, and unforgettable moments are made that will be cherished for years to come. Since it's first introduction on the nintendo 64 where I battled my siblings as we competed for the best in the house, Mario Kart will always hold a dear place in my heart! So here's to the thrill of the race, the joy of the drift, and the sweet, sweet taste of victory (even if it's fleeting). Long live Mario Kart, the undisputed champion of multiplayer mayhem!

Jackanow Suicide Awareness Scholarship
I lost my older sister, Briseida, to suicide when she was just 27 years old. The impact of her loss on my life has been profound, like a permanent scar etched into the fabric of my being. Briseida was not just my sister; she was my confidante, my partner in mischief, mother to my nieces and nephews she left behind, and my best friend. Losing her shattered my world into a million irreparable pieces. Dealing with Briseidas's loss has been a journey filled with tears, anger, and moments of unbearable sadness. At times, it felt like I was drowning in an ocean of grief, unable to find my way back to the surface. But amidst the darkness, I found glimmers of hope – in the memories we shared, in the love of our family, and in the support of friends who stood by me and us through it all. Overcoming this loss has been a gradual process, marked by small victories and setbacks alike. I've sought therapy to navigate the complexities of grief, finding solace in the words of a compassionate counselor who helped me unravel the tangled emotions within me. I've immersed myself in activities that bring me joy – hiking in nature, painting, and volunteering at a local youth soccer group, an activity we both enjoyed. And most importantly, I've learned to honor Briseida's memory by living my life with purpose and passion, knowing that she would want nothing more than to see me thrive. Through Briseida's untimely departure, I've learned the importance of compassion, both for others and for myself. I've learned to cherish every moment with loved ones, knowing that tomorrow is never promised. And I've learned that even in the darkest of times, there is always a flicker of light waiting to guide us home. Though the pain of losing Briseida will never fully dissipate, I carry her spirit with me always – a beacon of love and resilience in a world that can often feel unforgiving. As I stand here today, I am grateful for the opportunity to honor her memory by helping others who have walked a similar path, knowing that together, we can find strength in our shared humanity. Briseida's story isn't just one of loss; it's also one of love and resilience. She was a devoted mother to her young daughter, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. But in her children's laughter and smiles, I see glimpses of Briseida – a reminder that her love endures, even in her absence. Her passing taught me that mental health is not something to be taken lightly – it's a fragile thread that binds us all together. We must reach out to those who are struggling, offering a hand to hold in their darkest moments. And we must break the stigma surrounding suicide, opening up honest conversations about mental illness and the importance of seeking help. Briseida's memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to the indomitable spirit of a woman who loved fiercely and lived courageously. And though she may be gone, her legacy continues to inspire me every day, reminding me to embrace life's joys and sorrows with equal measure, knowing that each moment is a precious gift to be cherished.
