Bio

My biggest pride and joy is using music to serve and enrich my community. Playing the harp and piano has given me the opportunity to teach young children, serve routinely in retirement homes, and provide entertainment for community events and fundraisers. Studying Commercial Music at BYU has allowed me to immeasurably grow this pursuit and has opened up so many incredible doors for me to use music as a tool to uplift others. It's taken me as far as the Amazon in Brazil as our Wind Symphony's harpist, and as close as my local Rotary club. In addition to studying music, I've had the opportunity to study French as a second major in college, which has taught me the importance of communicating across cultures not only through language, but through genuine, practiced understanding. To support myself through school, in addition to teaching music lessons, I work as the licensing specialist at my university's Copyright Licensing Office. This position, as well as my experience as a library reference assistant, has made me extremely passionate about access to knowledge for all and legal protections for creative works. It's inspired me to pursue a legal education in the hopes of becoming a copyright attorney. When protection is balanced with access, we can make the world more creative and more collaborative! The field combines my love of music and other creative pursuits with actionable community improvement. In my free time I love to write my own music, read science fiction, and run (I just ran my first half marathon!)
