SuperDad Scholarship
Growing up, I didn’t fully understand how much my dad was carrying on his own. I just knew that no matter how busy, tired, or stressed he was, he showed up. He showed up to school events, helped with homework after long days, and made sure our home felt stable even when life wasn’t easy. Looking back now, I see the quiet strength it took to raise a family alone, and that strength has shaped who I am today.
My dad faced the challenge of being both the emotional and financial foundation for our family. There was no one else to split responsibilities with, no backup when things got overwhelming. He worked hard to provide for us while still making time to be present in our lives. I watched him make sacrifices without complaining, often putting our needs before his own. There were times when money was tight and stress was high, but he never let us feel unsupported. Instead of focusing on what we lacked, he focused on opportunity, discipline, and resilience.
Some of my most meaningful memories with my dad aren’t big or dramatic. They’re the everyday moments, like late-night conversations about school and life, rides where he gave advice, and the way he always reminded me that my education was something no one could ever take away from me. He didn’t just tell me to work hard. He showed me what hard work looks like.
Being raised by a single dad taught me independence early. I learned to be responsible, manage my time, and stay focused on my goals because I saw how much effort it took for our family to move forward. More importantly, it shaped my values. I learned perseverance, accountability, and gratitude. I don’t take opportunities for granted because I know how hard my dad worked to create them.
His example is a big reason why I’ve pushed myself academically and professionally. I am currently pursuing my degree with the goal of building a stable, successful career that reflects the work ethic he modeled for me. My long-term vision isn’t just personal success. I want to create the kind of financial security and stability that he worked so hard to provide for our family, and to make him proud of the investment he made in my future.
What inspires me most about my dad is his consistency. Even during difficult times, he never gave up, never made excuses, and never stopped believing that things could improve if he kept moving forward. That mindset has become part of how I approach challenges in my own life.
Receiving this scholarship would help ease the financial pressure of continuing my education and allow me to stay focused on my academic and career goals. More than that, it would honor the sacrifices my dad made to give me opportunities he didn’t always have himself. His hard work built the foundation for my future, and I am committed to making the most of it.
My dad didn’t just raise me on his own. He raised me to be strong, determined, and driven. Everything I am working toward today is, in many ways, a reflection of him.
Pastor Thomas Rorie Jr. Christian Values Scholarship
My faith has never been just a part of my life. It is the foundation I stand on and the lens through which I make decisions, handle challenges, and plan for my future. While I am not pursuing a degree in Christian Studies, my relationship with the Lord shapes my purpose, my leadership, and the way I hope to serve others through my career.
I grew up in a military family, and much of my childhood was shaped by change. My father served 20 years in the Army, and we moved frequently, including international assignments, while he deployed multiple times. Those early years taught me how to adapt, but they also taught me how important stability and faith are during uncertain seasons. When I was 13, my father became a single parent while continuing his military career. Watching him lead our family with discipline, faith, and determination strengthened my own relationship with God and showed me what it looks like to rely on Him through difficult circumstances.
As I entered college, my faith became more personal and intentional. I became involved in Delight Ministries and a women’s Bible study, where I found a strong community of Christian women who encouraged me to grow spiritually while navigating the pressures of school and career planning. These spaces helped me understand that faith is not just about belief. It is about daily obedience, accountability, and learning to trust God’s timing rather than relying only on my own plans.
Service has become one of the main ways I live out my faith. At House of Refuge Worship Center, I volunteer as a bookkeeper and website manager, helping track donations and keep information organized so the church can operate effectively. I also serve in hands-on outreach, including food distribution and community support for low-income families. One of the most meaningful projects I am currently involved in is helping develop a childcare and school program through the church. Many parents in the community struggle to find affordable care, and this program will provide a safe, stable environment for their children while allowing families to work and move toward financial stability.
Through these experiences, I have seen how faith is meant to be active. It is not only about attending church, but about meeting needs, showing consistency, and creating opportunities for others.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration and plan to continue my education through graduate school. While my field is business, my career goals are directly connected to my faith. I hope to build a career in property management and operations, with the long-term goal of creating stable, well-managed living environments where individuals and families feel safe and supported. Growing up in a military family and working with underserved communities has shown me how much stability and a sense of home matter. I want my work to reflect stewardship, integrity, and service.
In addition to my church involvement, I work as a Writing Consultant at my university’s Writing Center, where I help students who are often overwhelmed or lacking confidence. I am also involved in Women in Business and leadership programs that support other students as they prepare for their careers. I see these roles as opportunities to live out my faith through encouragement, responsibility, and servant leadership.
Receiving this scholarship would help reduce the financial burden of my education and allow me to continue pursuing both my academic goals and my service commitments. More importantly, it would support my long-term goal of using my education to serve others through ethical leadership, community impact, and a career grounded in faith.
I may not be studying Christian theology in the classroom, but my faith guides every part of my life. The Lord is the foundation I stand on, and my goal is to honor Him through my work, my leadership, and the way I serve the people and communities around me.

For most of my childhood, my dad’s career in the Army shaped our entire life. He served for 20 years and retired only recently. Growing up, deployments and moves were normal for us. We lived in different places, including international assignments, and I learned early how to adapt to new environments, new schools, and constant change. At the time, it was not always easy, but those experiences taught me resilience, independence, and the ability to adjust quickly—skills that now shape how I approach my education and future career.
When I was 13, my dad stopped deploying and became a single parent after his divorce. From that point on, I saw a different kind of strength from him. He was balancing the demands of military service while raising me on his own, making sure I was supported, stable, and focused on my future. Watching him carry both roles showed me what responsibility really looks like. There were no shortcuts. Everything was built on discipline, faith, determination, and showing up every day, no matter how difficult things were.
His military service created a home environment centered on structure and accountability. Excuses were not acceptable, and effort was always expected. That mindset has carried into my education. I take ownership of my goals, plan ahead, and hold myself to high standards. I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus on management and leadership, and I am on track to graduate early. Graduating ahead of schedule is part of my effort to be financially responsible and to begin building my career as soon as possible.
After retiring from the Army, my dad transitioned into the next chapter of his life, and watching that shift has also influenced me. Seeing him move from a structured military career into civilian life reinforced the importance of adaptability, long-term planning, and perseverance through change. His journey showed me that career paths are not always simple, but strong work ethic and determination make it possible to keep moving forward.
The values he lived by—faith, responsibility, resilience, and determination—are the same values guiding my educational and professional goals. I work to reflect those lessons through my leadership and involvement on campus. I serve as a Writing Consultant at my university’s Writing Center, helping students improve their work and gain confidence. I am also involved in professional and leadership organizations that prepare students for careers in business. Like my dad, I believe in taking initiative and putting in the work rather than waiting for opportunities to come to me.
My long-term goal is to build a career in business and property management, with the potential to eventually own or manage properties of my own. I want to create stable, well-managed environments that provide security and quality of life for the people who live there. Growing up in a military family, I understand how important stability and a sense of home can be, especially during times of transition.
Receiving this scholarship would help reduce the financial burden of my education and allow me to continue building toward my goals. More importantly, it would support a student whose path has been shaped by the example of a veteran who demonstrated strength, sacrifice, and perseverance every day.
My dad’s military service did more than shape his career. It shaped my mindset, my work ethic, and the future I am working hard to build.
Forever90 Scholarship
Service has become one of the most important parts of my life, especially through my work with House of Refuge Worship Center. What started as volunteering has turned into a long-term commitment to supporting families, children, and individuals in my community. Through this experience, I have learned that service is not about one big moment. It is about showing up consistently and using your skills to meet real needs.
At House of Refuge, I serve as a volunteer bookkeeper and website manager. I help track donations, organize financial records, and keep the church’s website updated so families can easily find information about services, events, and resources. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it helps the church operate smoothly and continue its outreach efforts.
I am also involved in hands-on service throughout the year. Our church supports many low-income families, and I regularly volunteer at food distribution events, help organize supplies, and assist with community activities for parents and children. One of the most meaningful projects I am currently helping with is the development of a childcare and school program. Many parents in the community struggle to find affordable, reliable care, and this program will give their children a safe place to learn while allowing parents to work and support their families. Being part of something that creates long-term stability for families has been incredibly rewarding.
These experiences have shown me how powerful practical support can be. Service is not always about large programs. Sometimes it is helping a parent find resources, making sure a family has food for the week, or simply creating a space where people feel cared for and supported.
Service is also part of my life on campus. I work as a Writing Consultant at my university’s Writing Center, where I meet one-on-one with students who are often stressed or unsure of their abilities. Helping them improve their work and leave with more confidence is one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience. I am also involved in Women in Business and leadership programs, where I help plan events and support other students as they prepare for their careers. I see leadership as a form of service when it focuses on helping others grow.
My faith is the foundation behind my commitment to serve. It has taught me to use my time, education, and opportunities to support others and to approach every responsibility with integrity and compassion.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration and plan to continue my education through graduate school. My long-term goal is to build a career in business and property management. I want to use my education to create stable, well-managed environments where individuals and families feel safe and supported. Experiences at House of Refuge have shown me how much stability and community matter, and I want my career to reflect that impact.
Receiving this scholarship would help reduce the financial burden of my education and allow me to continue investing my time and energy into both my academic goals and my service commitments. Service is not something I hope to do later in life. It is the foundation of what I am building now and will continue to guide both my career and my purpose.

The best way to describe my college experience is intentional. Every decision I make, from my course load to my leadership roles and internships, is part of a larger goal. I am working to graduate early, minimize financial burden, and build a strong foundation for a long-term career in business. I have learned that success in college is not just about academics. It requires discipline, balance, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose.
I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus on management and leadership, and I am on track to graduate ahead of schedule. Graduating early is not just a personal milestone. It is a financial decision that reduces tuition costs and allows me to begin my career sooner. Paying for college is something I think about constantly, and it influences how I plan my semesters, the number of credits I take, and the work and internship opportunities I pursue.
Academically, I have worked to maintain strong performance while balancing a full schedule of leadership, work, and professional development. One of my most meaningful roles is serving as a Writing Consultant at my university’s Writing Center. In this position, I work one-on-one with students who are often stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure of their abilities. Helping them organize their ideas, improve their writing, and gain confidence has been incredibly rewarding. It has strengthened my communication skills and reminded me how much of leadership is about supporting others and helping them grow.
I am also actively involved in Women in Business and leadership development programs on campus. Through these organizations, I have helped plan events, support professional workshops, and encourage other students as they prepare for internships and careers. Leadership, to me, is not about holding a title. It is about consistency, reliability, and creating an environment where others feel supported and motivated.
In addition to campus involvement, I have pursued multiple internships while in school, including roles in event planning, alumni engagement, and administrative support. These experiences have required strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Balancing internships with coursework and extracurriculars has not always been easy, but it has helped me graduate with real-world experience and a clear direction for my future.
My long-term goal is to build a career in business and property management. I am especially interested in the operational and financial side of managing properties, as well as the opportunity to create environments where people feel comfortable, safe, and supported. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to pursue graduate education to strengthen my financial and management skills. Because graduate school will add to the cost of my education, financial support through scholarships is critical to helping me reach this next step.
One of the biggest challenges I have faced during college has been learning how to manage the financial pressure that comes with pursuing higher education. Tuition, living expenses, and the reality of future student loans can feel overwhelming at times. Instead of letting that pressure discourage me, I have used it as motivation. I take heavier course loads to graduate early, apply for scholarships consistently, work when possible, and seek internships that provide both experience and financial stability. These choices require discipline and long-term thinking, but they allow me to stay focused on my goals without losing sight of financial responsibility.
Along with academic and professional growth, I have learned the importance of maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual balance. With a busy schedule, it can be easy to focus only on productivity, but I have realized that long-term success requires taking care of your overall well-being. Staying active, making time to reset, and maintaining healthy routines help me manage stress and stay energized. My faith also plays an important role in keeping me grounded and reminding me to stay grateful, work with integrity, and trust the process even during uncertain or stressful seasons.
I also make time for creative outlets like watercolor painting, which helps me slow down and clear my mind after busy weeks. These moments of balance allow me to return to my responsibilities with more focus, patience, and perspective. I have learned that discipline is not just about working hard. It is about creating a lifestyle that supports endurance, resilience, and long-term growth.
What makes me a strong candidate for this scholarship is my consistency and long-term vision. I am not simply trying to complete my degree. I am intentionally building a future through leadership, experience, financial responsibility, and personal growth. Every opportunity I pursue is connected to a larger goal: creating a stable career, continuing my education, and making a positive impact through my work.
Receiving this scholarship would directly reduce the financial pressure of my education and allow me to focus more fully on my academic and professional development. More importantly, it would support a student who is disciplined, motivated, and committed to making the most of every opportunity.
I am building my future step by step through hard work, faith, and persistence. With additional financial support, I will be able to continue that path with greater stability and confidence as I work toward my long-term career and graduate education goals.
G.A. Johnston Memorial Scholarship
Watercolor painting has always been one of the ways I stay connected to my creative side. Most of my time is spent balancing classes, internships, leadership roles, and planning for my future career, so painting gives me a chance to slow down and clear my mind. I love watercolor because it takes patience and flexibility. You can guide the paint, but you also have to let it do its own thing. That balance has taught me to be more patient, less focused on perfection, and more comfortable trusting the process.
Although I am pursuing a career in business and property management, creativity plays a bigger role in that field than people often realize. Managing properties is not just about numbers and operations. It is about creating spaces where people feel comfortable, welcomed, and at home. Watercolor helps me think visually and pay attention to detail, which I hope to bring into my career as I work to improve living environments and create positive experiences for residents.
The two watercolor pieces I submitted were inspired by moments of calm and everyday beauty. The first piece was inspired by nature and the feeling of stepping outside and taking a break from a busy schedule. I wanted to capture a peaceful atmosphere using soft colors and light blending to reflect that sense of balance and quiet.
The second piece was inspired by the idea that even simple, ordinary moments can feel meaningful if you take the time to notice them. I focused on layering colors and creating gentle contrast while keeping the overall feeling light and relaxed. This painting reflects how I try to find creativity and inspiration in the small details of everyday life.
For me, watercolor is more than just a hobby. It helps me stay balanced, patient, and creative while working toward my long-term goals. As I move forward in my career, I hope to carry that same creativity, attention to detail, and appreciation for environment into the spaces and communities I help manage.
