Bio

My short term education goal is to get my associates in diesel science/diesel technology. Long term I want to build onto that by getting degrees in business, automotive and aviation. Long term I would like to open my own repair shop in the Midwest or in the plain states offering maintenance services from farming and hauling equipment all the way to crop plane repairs. The path I am on is long and is going to be very challenging but I was built for a challenge. I have a strong family which have raised me to be unbreakable.

Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
My name is Anna Rigby, and I am cautious, polite and driven. I feel these are three very under appreciated traits a person can have. Growing up being cautious means you know your surroundings and you trust your gut. I was always the leader of my friend group and my father use to be so proud that I handled the responsibility to keeping everyone safe. To be cautious you must be intelligent and resourceful. You must know when to stand still and quiet or move with a purpose. Being cautious has led me to be a great mediator and a trustworthy and reliable confidant. Being polite as a child commanded a silent respect from adults. I was heard more often by taking the Teddy Roosevelt approach. Being polite I was able to excel where my constituents fell short. I was able to get more help with assignments, get extra food at lunch for the less able, and spend time in adult conversations by finessing my way in with my manners. Without being polite in my adult life I feel I would be passed by in employment. Honey catches more flies than vinegar. Being polite gets you ahead. Driving for your dreams doesn’t have to be a demolition derby on Monday nights. When you accompany caution and politeness with a drive you get to your metaphoric destination in one piece. Just because I go the speed limit doesn’t mean I don’t achieve my dreams; it just takes a little longer to get there. When you drive politely to your goals you can let other passing cars get on the road with you and help them get to there destination. I am a driven young adult with my eyes on the prize, but others success is in my peripheral vision.
RAD Scholarship
My name is Anna Rigby, I am currently enrolled in the San Diego Miramar Community College in California. I am originally from Michigan who in the recent months just had a headlining bicyclist accident where a cyclist was dragged 7 blocks before they were noticed. Out here in California I see cyclists every moment of every day sun up to sun down. My field of study is heavy duty diesel equipment. This will translate to on highway tractors and trailers. I believe they are the biggest threat to cyclists. Being enrolled for this degree, I can not only improve on emissions and fuel economy, I can improve safety features. I have a passion for the electronics portion of my degree in these big rigs. Electronics which one day could be a sensor on the side of trailers to detect not only barriers but pedestrians or vehicles. Your scholarship can help me continue to go to school and pursue my dream of being a technician and Department of Transportation inspector. This degree could also help keep me in school and maybe develop this sensor while I am working with some of the industries leading experts.
