My life has been a series of challenges and learning opportunities. I have overcome every challenge that has presented itself; from healing from epilepsy when I was six, to working through learning challenges and becoming an honor student. I work hard and my goal is to be a blessing to others, using my gifts of organization, teaching, and being an empathic ear to those that need someone to listen. I have a love for children with special needs and I am proud to have volunteered for the Special Olympics as well as having been a teacher’s assistant in the special needs class at Dos Pueblos High School. I observed my parents lose everything in 2010, during the mortgage crisis, and I learned so much about what it means to have nothing and work towards becoming homeowners again. Their tenacity in the face of tragedy taught me so much about the human spirit and the importance of keeping a positive mindset. I am focused on my goals and I am majoring in psychology, where I am excited about making a difference in the lives of children and families. I am responsible for paying for school myself, and I will greatly appreciate any assistance I am fortunate enough to receive.
