My favorite hobby is writing. I grew up overseas and my family moved around a lot. As a little girl, I was constantly losing friends and finding myself in a new home that was unfamiliar. I began writing and it gave me something to focus on and became something that stayed the same in my life no matter how much my family moved or how many of my friends moved away from me. I have written two complete novels and one joke book and how one day to be published so that I can share my works with the world.

Ever since I was a child, I have loved imagining stories for myself as I went to sleep. As I grew older, I started to write the stories down and share them with others. The first few stories were horrible but I've continued to write and hope that one day I might be able to be published and become an editor as well as an author. I'm attending school to get a degree in a field that I can use to earn a living while I pursue my dream of being published and I hope that one day I can live off my writing.

Living with an autoimmune disease has given me limitations, but it has also taught me to be stronger. My mother learned that I had celiac disease when I was only three years old, so I do not remember a time where I was not aware that I was celiac. Watching everything that I eat has been a struggle, and dealing with the painful reactions to any slip-up in my diet has taught me how to be aware and to be understanding when others tell me of their own struggles. Because of my disease, I am a physically weak and small person and so I chose to enhance my mental strength over my physical strength. I aimed to always be a straight-a student and developed a love for learning and reading that eventually led me to a passion for creative writing and art. At the age of ten I started what you might call a business, making paper dolls and running around my neighborhood on rollerblades with the dolls in a cardboard box selling them for a few cents each. Eventually, I became much more serious about my writing and completed a adventure novel in my last year of high school, which I am now attempting to publish. In this coming year I intend to start an online business selling dream catcher creations of mine. I still struggled at times with my physically weakness, especially when those I considered friends would judge me for my size and limit me in any sports I attempted to enter. However, I hope to use these experiences to be sympathetic and connect with many others in the world who have been also been judged for things that were beyond their control. One day, I hope that this will be one of my greatest strengths.

A young women pregnant with a baby girl is often the despair of Chinese parents. As I grew up as a foreigner in that nation, I heard of and met many women who had undergone abortions, many of them had been unwilling at the time. When one of my mother's best friends was pregnant with her third child she went to a clinic to get a ultrasound to check on the baby. While in the waiting room, she witnessed an older couple drag their screaming daughter into the clinic and past the waiting room to the doctor's beyond. One of the nurses told my mother's friend that the young woman was pregnant with a daughter had her parents wanted a boy. They had brought their daughter to the clinic so the doctors there could murder the little girl growing inside of her simply because she was not a boy. Another instance I heard of was from a friend who told me and several others that a couple he was acquainted with had discovered they were pregnant and were thrilled until they learned their child would be born with severe disabilities. They killed their child to avoid having to care for such a burden and said they would simply try again. In the Eastern world, children in the womb are considered nothing more than cells. Their personhood is not valued, their sanctity is disregarded and their lives are taken away at alarming rates. In the western world we are seeing this trend grow at exponential rates to the point where women celebrate their 'abortion day' and laugh at how they allowed a doctor to rip their unborn child to pieces in their womb. After experiencing all that I did in China and researching what the Bible says about unborn life, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God holds all lives sacred, even the smallest spark of life within a mother's womb. When I attend college, I hope to join a group of students who advocate for the end of abortion and will continue to do so for the rest of my life until it is completely abolished. There can be no other course. We are only five days into 2022 and already over 500,000 abortions have been conducted. The world needs to be reminded of God and the gospel must be spread because without it no one can understand the value of each and every life. When I graduate college, I intend to travel overseas to spread God's word so that more may know the truth and I pray that this will help to stop the genocide of our children.

I grew up overseas in China. In my first two years of High school, I attended an international school and once a year we would have what was a called a China Week. During this week we would focus on Chinese culture and learn and observe special parts of their festivals and celebrations. One day of the week the students were taught about Chinese water painting. We were given the materials to paint with and then were told to select a pattern to follow. The paper that the pattern were printed on were extremely delicate and it was difficult to learn how to use the paints without destroying the paper or mixing the colors as they traveled through the page. Another day we were taught Chinese traditional writing. The man who taught the class could write beautiful calligraphy, making the Chinese characters come to life. I came away from this experience with a better appreciation for Chinese culture and art and still carry the art I made with me to remind me of that experience. My favorite teacher from High school was a young man named Mr. Gibson. He taught math, which was one of my least favorite subjects, but he made the class enjoyable and connected with every student on a personal level. He helped several special needs children in the school and went so far as to spend extra time with them after class to help them understand the math lessons he was teaching. I learned from him that by taking extra time to help someone else you could greatly improve their experience and even help them to enjoy something as complicated and sometimes boring as math. I believe that the arts help people to look at ideas and concepts in a new perspective. Art in any form is simply the artist expressing their thoughts and ideas in a different way than is usual. Art forces people to stop and think so that they may understand what the artist was attempting to communicate. I would love to start a creative writing club in my community so that I could share my ideas and learn from others how I can better communicate those ideas through my writing. I would also love to teach people how to create a voice for themselves through writing and to unlock their imagination so that they can express themselves in the best possible way.
