Bio

I aspire to have a successful career and family life. I hope to pursue a career in either veterinary medicine or pediatric occupational therapy. I enjoy spending time with others and helping to care with others. Some of my hobbies include spending time with friends and family, running, dancing, theater, shopping, and watching movies. I recently became an alumni of a social service club and I hope to continue doing acts of service through a college sorority.

Education is an essential facet of the human life. Without it, the world would not function. Pursuing a higher education opens up a world of opportunities, equipping you with valuable skills, expanding your knowledge, and boosting your confidence. It can also lead to better job prospects and higher earning potential. However, beyond that, it is about personal growth, broadening your horizons, and discovering your passions. I deserve this award because I have a passion for learning and a drive to better my community. I have wanted to help and care for others from a young age. There is no better joy than seeing the smile on someone's face after you have helped them in some way. Helping others also gives you a better appreciation for yourself and the life that you have been blessed with. I have grown in gratitude for my life and become more appreciative of the opportunities presented to me through helping others. So, when I was allowed to pledge and become a part of a social service club in my community, I did not hesitate. The Dusty Social Service Club is a local club in my community that resembles a college sorority. The club's mission is to better our community through acts of service. Through the Dusty Club, I have had the opportunity to serve for over two hundred hours in many different areas of my community for the last few years. One of my favorite opportunities was helping with an organization called the SPOT. The SPOT is an organization that creates a safe place for families to connect, serve, and grow in their community. It specializes in providing experiences and care for children with special needs. I was able to help set up and work a Christmas party for this organization. To do this, I had to go through a short training course on how to deal with people with special needs and sensory issues. During the party, I interacted with many different people and personality types. That experience taught me compassion, patience, and other virtues that I believe are important. Another of my favorite opportunities was being able to help put together a Make-A-Wish reveal party for a little boy with ocular cancer. The little boy was blind, so we had to accommodate him. My experience working with the SPOT helped me be better prepared to interact with this little boy. Being a part of his reveal party was very special, and seeing the joy on his face warmed my heart. The Make-A-Wish organization is one of the main organizations the Dusty Club works with. It is also very close to my heart because I had childhood cancer and was given a wish by Make-A-Wish. I have been able to help better my community through future service projects with organizations such as college sororities or clubs.

My love for helping others coupled with the opportunities I have been given via the Dusty Club have lead me to want to pursue a career in helping others. I am exploring two different career interests, which include Pediatric Occupational Therapy and Veterinary Medicine. I am considering the field of Pediatric Occupational Therapy because it will give me the opportunity to help children and restore or improve their daily skills needed for a successful and independent life. I am considering Veterinary Medicine because animals are an important part of peoples lives in that they can bring joy and comfort. Through these career paths, I plan to use my college education to improve my community and world.
