Bio

My goal is to pursue a career in healthcare administration where I can improve healthcare systems, expand access to quality care, and advocate for underserved communities. I want to help create healthcare environments where patients and families feel supported, informed, and cared for during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. My passion for healthcare is deeply personal. While earning my Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from California State University, Northridge, I balanced work, volunteer service, and motherhood. During my pregnancy, I was learning about neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in class, only to later find myself navigating that experience firsthand when my own child was admitted to the NICU. What I once studied in a textbook became my reality. That experience strengthened my resilience, deepened my empathy, and reinforced my commitment to helping others through healthcare. Throughout my journey, I have worked as a caregiver, scheduling coordinator, healthcare administrative intern, tutor, and school district volunteer. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals from diverse backgrounds while developing strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. I believe I am a strong candidate because I have consistently turned challenges into motivation. Rather than allowing obstacles to define me, I have remained committed to my education, my family, and serving others. I am determined to use my experiences, education, and passion for service to make a meaningful impact in healthcare and my community.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to make a difference in people's lives, but I never imagined how deeply personal that mission would become. My education, life experiences, and commitment to serving others have shaped my vision for the impact I want to make through healthcare administration. While earning my Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from California State University, Northridge, I balanced work, volunteer service, and pregnancy. During that time, I was learning about neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and the challenges faced by medically fragile infants and their families. What I never expected was that I would soon experience that world firsthand when my own child was admitted to the NICU. As a new mother, I faced fear, uncertainty, and emotional challenges, but I also witnessed the incredible difference compassionate healthcare professionals can make in the lives of patients and families. That experience strengthened my resilience, deepened my empathy, and inspired me to pursue a career dedicated to improving healthcare systems and patient experiences. Service has always been more than something I do—it is a part of who I am. Throughout my life, I have sought opportunities to uplift, support, and advocate for others. Whether assisting older adults during vulnerable moments, encouraging students to believe in their potential, supporting families navigating healthcare challenges, or giving back through community outreach and service initiatives, I have learned that real leadership begins with compassion. These experiences have taught me the importance of advocacy, empathy, and creating opportunities for others to succeed. They have also reinforced my belief that everyone deserves access to support, resources, and a community that believes in them. The people who inspire me most are my mother and my child. Watching my mother navigate the challenges of raising me taught me the value of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. Her strength showed me what it means to keep moving forward even when circumstances are difficult. Today, as a mother myself, I have gained an even deeper appreciation for the sacrifices she made. Becoming a mother while pursuing my degree was not easy, but it strengthened my determination to create a better future for my child. Together, my mother and my child inspire me to continue breaking barriers, pursuing my goals, and becoming a leader who serves and advocates for others. My vision is to use my education and experiences to improve access to quality healthcare, support families during difficult times, and create systems that better serve diverse communities. I want to be the type of leader who not only improves healthcare operations but also ensures that patients and families feel seen, heard, and supported. By combining my professional knowledge with my personal experiences, I hope to create lasting change and help build a future where quality healthcare is accessible to everyone. Receiving the Sloane Stephens Scholarship would allow me to continue pursuing these goals while building a future centered on service, leadership, and impact. I am committed to using my education, resilience, and passion for helping others to create meaningful change in my community and beyond.
