Bio

My name is Angelo Matisko, I am a student at the Sedona Red Rock High School and some prominent activities in my life are: going to the Skate park, working on cars and attending YoungLife as a Junior leader. I enjoy going to the skate park and not only doing tricks but helping other kids with learning new tricks as well. Other community service that I have done has been filling in for the cook at my church in the morning by helping with making and serving our free cowboys breakfasts. Personal achievements that I hold near to me include: my first car, landing a job at a machine shop and development as a person thanks to God through his son.

Desert Star is where I went to middle school. Desert Star has been the source of many great teachers for me. One of these teachers is Ms. Mac. She stepped up to the plate in my later years of middle school after my class was struggling to maintain a teacher. Ms. Mac is a teacher that worked with me, was willing to work things out with me and it is that that got me on the right track at school, resulting in me growing exponentially as a student. Tom Cadigan is another teacher that I had at Desert Star and he has been one of the most influential people in my life. Mr. Cadigan was a great example for me as a person and was always there for me. I had Mr. Cadigan primarily as a woodworking teacher and a PE teacher and he truly cultivated my ability to work with my hands. Desert Star is a crucial aspect of who I am today. I hope to use my education to advance my worth and capabilities as a machinist. Skills I will learn from my education will give me the knowledge that I need to pursue a career in machining using CNC (computer numerical controlled) machines. Something that I admire about machining is that you get to help people. People come to machinists with broken parts and sometimes it just doesn't make sense to buy a new one. Many machine shops are focused on making products for companies, many also help their communities by helping to solve problems and fix things that would otherwise turn into junk. If I were an owner or a director in a machine shop, leadership would play a very important role. I am determined to be a good leader who would help unite fellow coworkers to solve problems and come down to their level in order to suit their needs. In ten years I can see myself using my skills to sustain a living, support a family, to play a role in a ministry and using my leisurely time to pursue my hobbies.
