The things that I practice are character, sportsmanship and work ethic, not only when I am fishing or competing. Fishing has featured prominently in my life as did working long hours, assisting in taking care of my family, and learning how to cope with responsibility at such a young age. All that has informed my attitude towards the water, as well as my community. Whenever I am fishing, I attempt to do things the proper way. I admire the regulations, the fishes and people living with me. Bass fishing makes you patitent. There are days when you may get everything correct and yet fight. I had enough hard days when I did not have the bite, and instead of losing my temper and pointing at external circumstances, I concentrate on the learning and adaptation. In my opinion, sportsmanship is not only about how you behave when fortune is unfavorable in your direction but equally it is also about how you behave when everything is going fine. In case another angler is doing better than me, I admire it. When I consider myself a good fisherman, I remain low profile since I understand the unpredictability of fishing. Fishing has helped to reinforce my working ethic. You can not succeed in the water by chance. It is time consuming, preparation consuming, and consistent. The same mentality transpires to my daily existence. I am employed as a bartender, and this profession involves long working hours, patience, and excellent communication. I have not always been good at coping with hard circumstances or individuals but I have learned how to remain calm, listen, and solve the problem without causing it to get out of control. I also take the pride of being dependable and performing my duties in the right manner and even when nobody is around. Home is another area of responsibility that I am in. My younger sister lives with me, and maintaining a person who can rely on me has made me learn the importance of accountability and leadership. The process of balancing between school, work, and family has not been so smooth but I have learnt how to pace my time and remain dedicated. In my opinion, the character manifests itself in the minor, daily decisions - turning up in time, fulfilling a promise, and striving even when you are feeling fatigued. Fishing and life have taught me that it is not only about success in terms of results. It is all about consistency, attitude and the way you handle the other people in between. Those teachings have remained embedded in me and have continued to influence my personality. I like Travis Ely story as it is more than a story of success in the world of fishing. He was passionate, hardworking, and the kind of influence he had on people is the kind of values that I have attempted to pursue. This scholarship is a symbol of paying a tribute to a person who did it the right way and that is what I am trying to achieve in my day to day life. Should I be shortlisted to the Travis Ely Memorial Scholarship, I would view it as a chance to keep developing, expanding, and representing the fishing community with respect, integrity, and hard work both on the water and in my day to day life.

Traveling has the remarkable power to transform individuals by exposing them to diverse cultures, perspectives, and environments. Through cultural exploration, individuals not only celebrate diversity but also cultivate compassion, increase love for others, and broaden their minds. As someone deeply passionate about experiencing the world and learning from different cultures, I firmly believe in the transformative potential of travel. One of the most significant ways in which travel can be transformative is by challenging our preconceived notions and expanding our worldview. When we step out of our comfort zones and immerse ourselves in unfamiliar cultures, we are confronted with new ways of thinking, living, and understanding the world. This exposure pushes us to question our own beliefs and biases, fostering greater empathy and understanding for those whose experiences differ from our own. Moreover, travel provides an opportunity for personal growth and development. By navigating unfamiliar environments, overcoming language barriers, and adapting to new customs, travelers develop resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. These experiences not only build confidence but also foster a sense of independence and self-reliance that carries over into other areas of life. Additionally, exposure to different cultures and perspectives fosters a sense of interconnectedness and global citizenship. As we engage with people from diverse backgrounds, we come to appreciate the richness of human experience and recognize our shared humanity. This sense of unity transcends borders and fosters a commitment to building a more inclusive and harmonious world. Furthermore, travel encourages introspection and self-discovery. Stepping away from the familiar allows us to gain perspective on our own lives, values, and priorities. Whether it's witnessing the resilience of communities in the face of adversity or experiencing the beauty of nature in distant lands, travel has a way of inspiring gratitude, humility, and a renewed sense of purpose. In conclusion, travel is much more than just visiting new places; it is a transformative journey of exploration, discovery, and growth. By exposing ourselves to different cultures, perspectives, and environments, we expand our horizons, challenge our assumptions, and deepen our understanding of the world. Through travel, we not only enrich our own lives but also contribute to a more interconnected and compassionate global community.

As a devoted follower of Christ, my faith journey has been a cornerstone of my life, guiding my beliefs, shaping my values, and influencing my actions. In a world where the concept of "my truth" often prevails, I am steadfast in my commitment to discerning between subjective perspectives and divine guidance. Throughout history, individuals have grappled with the notion of truth, seeking to understand its essence and relevance in their lives. As a Christian, I believe that truth is not merely a relative concept shaped by personal experiences or cultural norms but is rooted in the unchanging nature of God Himself. This understanding compels me to explore the distinction between "our truth," "God’s truth," and the truth presented in the Bible. "Our truth," as I see it, is often shaped by our individual experiences, cultural background, and societal influences. While these perspectives hold value within the context of our lives, they pale in comparison to the absolute truth revealed by God. As a Christian, I firmly believe that "God’s truth" transcends human understanding and serves as the ultimate standard of righteousness and morality. This conviction is echoed in Isaiah 55:8-9, which reminds us that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts surpass our understanding. For me, the truth presented in the Bible is not merely a collection of ancient writings but the inspired word of God, providing timeless wisdom and guidance for believers. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares, every scripture is God-breathed and invaluable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. This truth serves as a beacon of light in a world filled with uncertainty, offering hope, direction, and purpose to those who seek it. Understanding the truth presented in the Bible requires more than just casual reading; it demands diligent study, prayerful reflection, and guidance from the Holy Spirit. By delving into the historical context, linguistic nuances, and theological insights of scripture, I seek to gain a deeper understanding of God’s will. Through this journey of exploration and discovery, I endeavor to align my life with the divine truths revealed in the Bible. As a Christian, my faith isn't just a set of beliefs; it's a way of life. It shapes my values, informs my decisions, and guides my actions. By embracing God’s truth as revealed in the scriptures, I strive to live a life that honors His will and glorifies His name. It is my fervent belief that through faithful adherence to the truths of the Bible, I can navigate life’s journey with purpose, conviction, and unwavering faith.

JT Lampert was a beacon of kindness and selflessness, and it is an honor to apply for a scholarship that carries her legacy. Supporting others has always been a fundamental part of my life, and I strive to embody the same qualities that JT exemplified. Currently, I support others in various ways. At school, I often help my classmates with their homework and study for exams. I believe that by working together, we can all succeed and achieve our goals. Outside of school, I volunteer at a local community center, where I assist in organizing after-school programs for children from low-income families. These programs provide a safe space for children to learn, play, and grow. Additionally, I participate in a neighborhood clean-up initiative that focuses on maintaining our community parks and public spaces. This work not only improves our environment but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility. In my personal life, I support my family and friends by being a reliable source of emotional support. I help my younger siblings with their homework, engage in meaningful conversations with my grandparents, and often cook meals for my family to ease the burden on my parents. My friends know they can count on me for anything, whether it's a late-night talk or help with a project. Looking ahead, I plan to continue supporting others through my chosen career and personal endeavors. I aspire to become a teacher, a profession where I can directly impact the lives of young people and help them achieve their full potential. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel valued, supported, and motivated to learn. By fostering a love of learning and encouraging critical thinking, I hope to inspire my students to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to society. Moreover, I plan to continue my volunteer work, expanding my efforts to include more community-based projects. I hope to start a non-profit organization focused on providing educational support and recreational activities for children in underserved areas. Education is a powerful tool for change, and I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Through my career and volunteer efforts, I aim to create a ripple effect of positivity and support, much like JT did throughout her life. Her story inspires me to give my best to others, to be compassionate, and to always lend a helping hand. In conclusion, supporting others is not just an action for me; it is a way of life. By continuing this path, I hope to honor JT Lampert’s memory and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around me. Thank you for considering my application and for keeping JT’s spirit of generosity alive through this scholarship.

Three months ago, I found myself in a hospital bed, the result of a fentanyl poisoning from cocaine. It was a moment of reckoning that forced me to confront the devastating impact addiction had on my life. Up until that point, my college experience had been a blur of drug use and chaos. What started as casual experimentation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to a dependency that overshadowed every aspect of my life. The night of my overdose is still vivid in my memory. I remember the overwhelming fear as my body began to shut down and the desperate calls for help from my friends who found me unconscious. Waking up in the hospital, surrounded by concerned faces, I realized the gravity of my situation. I had been given a second chance, and I knew I couldn't squander it. This brush with death was a wake-up call. It marked the beginning of my journey toward sobriety and a better life. I sought help from a rehabilitation center where I spent weeks undergoing detox and therapy. The process was grueling, both physically and emotionally, but it was necessary. I had to confront the root causes of my addiction, the pain and insecurities I had been masking with drugs. Since becoming sober, my life has taken a dramatic turn for the better. The fog that once clouded my mind has lifted, and I am now fully present and engaged in my life and studies. My academic performance has improved significantly, and I feel a renewed sense of purpose and direction. Sobriety has also allowed me to rebuild relationships with my family and friends, who had been deeply hurt by my addiction. My experience with addiction has profoundly shaped my aspirations and goals. I understand the challenges faced by those struggling with substance abuse, and I am committed to using my education to help others on similar paths. I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in psychology, with the intention of specializing in addiction counseling. I want to work in rehabilitation centers and community programs to provide support and guidance to individuals battling addiction. Education is not just a means to a career for me; it is a tool for empowerment and change. By gaining a deeper understanding of the psychological aspects of addiction, I hope to develop effective strategies for prevention and recovery. I want to advocate for better mental health services in schools and communities, ensuring that others do not fall through the cracks as I once did. The Trudgers Fund represents an incredible opportunity for me to further my education and make a meaningful impact. Financial support will alleviate the burden of tuition and allow me to focus on my studies and volunteer work. I plan to work with local organizations to raise awareness about addiction and provide resources for those in need. In conclusion, my journey from addiction to sobriety has been transformative. It has instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to help others overcome their struggles and lead fulfilling lives. With the support of the Trudgers Fund, I am determined to turn my past into a source of strength and inspiration, using my education to create positive change in the world of addiction recovery.

My heart aches reading your story. I can feel the pain and frustration of losing your mom to a broken mental health system. It's a tragic reality that so many people, like Sheri, struggle with inadequate care and support. Your dedication to creating the Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship in her memory is both inspiring and deeply moving. My own journey with mental health has been filled with ups and downs. Growing up, I watched my best friend battle severe depression. I felt helpless as I saw them cycle through medications and therapists, none of which seemed to provide lasting relief. It was heartbreaking to witness their struggle and the toll it took on their spirit and our friendship. This experience profoundly influenced my beliefs and career aspirations. It taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and the need for a compassionate approach to mental health care. I’ve seen how dismissive attitudes and lack of proper care can exacerbate someone’s condition, leading to a downward spiral of hopelessness and despair. Witnessing my friend’s battle, I realized that a supportive community and accessible mental health resources are crucial for recovery and well-being. My belief in the importance of mental health care has shaped my relationships as well. I've learned to listen more deeply, offer support without judgment, and be there for my loved ones during their difficult times. This approach has strengthened my bonds with family and friends, creating a network of trust and mutual support. I’ve become an advocate for open conversations about mental health, encouraging those around me to speak up about their struggles and seek help when needed. Volunteering at a local mental health organization has been a transformative experience for me. I’ve seen firsthand how crucial community support is and how small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life. Working with individuals who have faced similar challenges to my friend, I’ve learned that mental health care is not just about treatment but also about understanding and compassion. It’s about creating an environment where people feel safe to share their experiences and seek help without fear of stigma or judgment. This volunteer work has solidified my determination to pursue a career in mental health advocacy and support. I want to be part of the solution, working towards a future where mental health care is accessible, effective, and compassionate. I plan to study psychology and specialize in mental health counseling, with a focus on developing community programs that provide support and resources to those in need. My goal is to contribute to a future where individuals facing mental health challenges receive the support and understanding they deserve. Your scholarship represents a beacon of hope for those affected by mental health issues. It not only honors your mother’s memory but also empowers individuals to share their stories and foster a community of support and understanding. By encouraging students to reflect on their own experiences and aspirations, you are helping to create a generation of mental health advocates and professionals who can make a real difference in the world. Thank you for your incredible work and for turning your grief into a force for positive change. Your story and your scholarship inspire me to continue my own journey in mental health advocacy, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. It would be an honor to contribute to the legacy of Sheri Rosser and work towards a brighter future for mental health care.

All my life I have been extremely blessed with a healthy mind. I have no disabilities and a pretty stable life. I stay always optimistic because I had to take off my blindfold and realize life for others isn’t as easy as a path. I, since a child, have tried to help people in need of love and attention. For the last 9 years of my life, i devoted myself to volunteer work in downtown Minneapolis. This would help homeless people get a little love from the group I would go with, which these people never had. We would go to shelters with people who haven’t had as easy of a path and crashed. We would give them food, blankets, and love. Since I opened my eyes to these harder situations I saw myself as truly blessed and made viewed it as my responsibility to carry some of the burdens of others to balance it out. This is where I finally had a revelation of what I wanted to be for the rest of my life. I knew that I wanted to better understand people. I wanted to help people understand their hardships, with them feeling comfortable with me. Psychologists have the ability to help this person better than anyone else. I am to attend UMD in the fall of 2022, and the psychology major there is extremely helpful to what I’m trying to peruse. The problem is it’s expensive and I’m doing this all on my own. My parents never went to college. And wealth wise they can’t afford to pay for the college past him trying to pursue. I overcame those struggles by working nonstop, communicating with colleagues for aid, and staying focused in school. I have an understanding people don’t see in their community normally. I finally saw the darker parts of the world. The things people hid their yes to with this blindfold they keep every day. I learned to love other people not for what they show, but to truly understand the sad heart that everyone hides. That everyone in the world needs help by giving them the one thing they struggle to communicate, love. Once I can finally understand people on their exact level I could grow and communicate with them so much more than I could’ve before. I understand that many people apply for this scholarship, but if you grant me this privilege and help me achieve my goal. I will deliver this gift back into the community and the world through your help. Since 9 years ago I have wanted to bring joy to the people that struggle to ask. This gift would give me the final step to achieving that. thank you for this opportunity.

"Cats In the Cradle," by Harry Chapin. this song has been the most influential to my life in many ways. one of the most important messages from this song is the emphasis on investing time into your child's life. Harry refers to how the child constantly urges for his father's validation and time at the beginning of the song, the father however is too busy and neglects the boy to grow up mostly without involvement from his father, the song finally takes a turn when the kid slowly ages into a man who then has a family of his own. the father returns to his adult son and asks for some time with his boy. the boy sadly has moved on and become too busy for his dad, and the father leaves saddened and disappointed in himself. This message is so important to me because of the strong emphasis on family that my household had when I was a child. I was so confused as a kid why my family just seemed to always want to be with me and spend so much time with me. in time I realized that it was the most important role in my development with my family and I thank them every day for the time my father gave me. I believe that without his time and effort I would be nothing like the man I am today. I can only wish to be half the amazing father my dad was.

there are many battles we all go through in life that make us stronger and more motivated versions of ourselves. firstly, id likes to say how amazing the opportunity it is to write this today. my parents were both MMA fighters. Sadly, they weren't the most successful in that path but always taught me to keep my head up and move forward. to answer your question on how the loss of all my grandparents affected me taught me at a young age that life isn't a guarantee. we are blessed with each day that we are given on this earth and will never be promised the next unless we go out and take it. I fight every day to be a better version of the angelo of yesterday because I know that's what they would've wanted me to do. I want to make them proud of me and honored that I carry the family name down. the loss of loved ones has taught me the impact of family, and the importance of a strong connection with my family. Human motivation comes from the nurture of our loved ones? my family impacted my motivation to push forward heavily so the loss of them initially makes you want to give up and stop. I realized shortly after that it's a fight every day to stay happy. I learned every day doesn't come for free you have to earn it. I want to fight to achieve to be happy. My only hope is to be half the father my dad was to me. I want to push through college debt and achieve total family and economic happiness. no matter what happens I understand that it cannot stop me so theirs no reason to take a break from it. we are the only creature that gives power to the things that hold us down. once we recognize this philosophy we can realize that we are more powerful than any burden we face.

a considerable part of my life is the investment of others. when I was very young my mother and father took me to Minneapolis to participate in an inner-city missionary program. the purpose of this program was to feed the homeless on Friday nights and share the gospel. the part I always took with me from doing this was the ability to make friends and give them somebody to feel loved by. when my parents quit going to this program I kept going on Fridays for the last 8 years of my life. I believe everyone needs to feel loved by someone. that idea I had continuously motivated me throughout my high school career to help other people in my community. another massive part of my love for helping the community came from my mother. my mom grew up in a terrible life, but to see her come out of that all because of the love my dad showed her meant a lot to me. I have always felt like we are gifted with major opportunities and gifts as humans. if we do not use these gifts to help others, then we are wasting a truly powerful gift that we have been given. I voulterened for coaching 4th graders in football because I had the gift and knowledge for the game. I loved coaching the team up and helping them with their practices. that all only came from the gift of playing football for the last 8 years of my life. the reason I'm truly applying for this scholarship is because of the lack of funds I have in my college so far. I've been working as much as I can through college after classes, and have been applying to as many scholarships as I can in the hope of maybe getting some. I want to use my major to better help my community once I graduate. I plan to use my communication major in helping others by mediating relationships. I would love to be a marriage mediator to make sure both sides are happy throughout certain situations that they are going through. in conclusion, I know for a fact that all gifts we have should be used for the good of our community. I try my best every day to give back to my community with what I have been given. and I can promise you that if I'm blessed with this oppruntuinty I will use it for the better.

I have always had a huge side passion for photography since I’ve been young. It has been a huge blessing to travel to many beautiful places with my family and take some beautiful shots that I’ve taken. These are two fantastic shots I took in Hawaii. If you have any questions about them feel free to ask me and I’d be happy to explain more and show more pictures I have take from my trips. I heard about this scholarship from my football coach Vossen, and with some pretty unlucky rejections from my previous scholarships I thought anything helps. I plan on going to UMD this fall for sales, and I’m going to be working as much as I can to gain the money for school. Photography is always a good way for me to relax and enjoy a good world. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me back, it would be a huge blessing to receive this scholarship for my future.
