Ever since I was young I always had a nature for wanting to help others. I would help my grandfather with yard work such as planting trees and help my aunt while she would go on vacation by taking care of her pets. A few ways that I can help within my community by volunteering at places such as the animal shelter, helping promote toys for tots or even helping other schools in the district which is exactly what I did. While I was in middle school I was a part of the national junior honors society organization that required the members to do service hours. So of course my first thought was to go volunteer at the animal shelter in Rockwall. I would spend time playing with different dogs outside and talk them on walks and even help with the laundry by washing the blankets they use for the dogs. We always went on a field trip to a nearby location in Royse City that was promoting toys for tots to go help out and represent the school. While in high school in December of 2023 the organization that I am a part of which was the Golden Debs also helped out at a Toys for Tots fundraiser that was held at standard service in Rockwall. We stood at the entrance welcoming everyone in and guiding them to where to put the donations at. Also in the month of December I helped out at Glenda Arnold Childhood Learning Center as a part of the national honors society organization by being useful in their decoration process of turning their school into whoville theme from the Grinch since the Christmas holiday was approaching. While all of these events were such a great experience in learning that not every person or animal is as blessed as some people and by volunteering and helping out with different organizations can really make an impact on someone or even an animal. I also learned that it's good to think of others before yourself in times of need and that one small gesture will always be remembered by the person you're helping so why not always help out others who are in need because doing so could change their lives for the better. A few ways people can help out within their community is by volunteering at different churches. Every church always has volunteering events especially in the holiday season or help in donating at school events when schools advertise their donation bins for certain things like socks,blankets, or food during the school year. Even volunteering to clean up parks that kids play at can be a big way to contribute to one's community or for someone who is in school they can create study groups to help their classmates.
