I'm passionate for advocating for the Appalachian people and our stories. I achieved my goal by conducting research while job shadowing at a university; here I dug into the depths of the under documented history of our area to revitalize the lives in the stories that have remained untold for far too long. In my community, I have served as a volunteer for a local organization that serves to preserve the history of our area by restoring pioneer era buildings and recounting the lost stories of our people, as well as informing our fellow Appalachians of our history and culture. Though these experiences have been more than sufficient in achieving my goal, I aim to continue this mission into my undergraduate studies, and eventually into the workforce.
