Bio
Hi everyone, nice to meet you!
My name is Angel, and I am an aspiring accountant aiming to take the CPA after graduation. I am a first-generation and in a group seeking resources to help first-generation generations succeed and help low-income. I also have a minor in art, and I am using those lessons to help me be an improved artist and start my own small business selling my art. Being in a private college helps me succeed better and is my most significant decision.
Being an accountant is a significant interest to me, especially after joining the VITA group that helps low-income people with their taxes for free. I want to make a firm that could help the community even more.

Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
" AND ILL EAT A POTATO CHIP" As an avid anime enthusiast, I have a go-to series that I can watch repeatedly: "Death Note." The captivating storyline and the intricate character development of Light Yagami make this anime an endless source of fascination for me.
From the first time I watched "Death Note," I was drawn into Light Yagami's world. In this world, a simple discovery, a mysterious notebook, would lead him down a rabbit hole of moral ambiguity and relentless pursuit of his vision for a new world.
The nuanced character arc of Light Yagami makes "Death Note" endlessly captivating for me. Initially, he is portrayed as a straight-A student, a prodigy at the top of his class. The story takes a thrilling turn when he stumbles upon the Death Note, a supernatural notebook with the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. Watching Light grapple with the newfound power and the temptation it brings is intriguing and unsettling.
The aspect that stands out the most is the gradual descent of Light into the rabbit hole of moral ambiguity. His initial intentions, fueled by a desire to rid the world of criminals and create a utopia, morph into something darker. The series masterfully explores the theme of power corrupting as Light, despite starting with a seemingly noble cause, becomes entangled in a web of deceit, manipulation, and, ultimately, a thirst for absolute control.
The unpredictability of Light's actions was what hooked me during my first watch—and continues to do so in subsequent viewings. As he meticulously plans each move to outsmart his pursuers, you can't help but be on the edge of your seat, wondering if he will succeed in creating his envisioned new world. The psychological cat-and-mouse game between Light and those trying to stop him adds layers of complexity that keep the storyline gripping and dynamic.
A significant element that contributes to the allure of "Death Note" is the exploration of the blurred lines between good and evil. Initially seen as the protagonist, Light Yagami becomes an antihero whose actions elicit sympathy and repulsion. The internal conflict within the viewer, torn between rooting for and condemning the main character, is a testament to the show's ability to challenge moral perspectives.
The brilliance of "Death Note" lies not only in its narrative but also in the character design. Light Yagami's transformation is gradual yet profound, and the subtle shifts in his demeanor, expressions, and moral convictions are portrayed with remarkable detail. This attention to character development adds a layer of realism to the fantastical premise, making the viewer emotionally invested in Light's journey.
As I revisited "Death Note" countless times, I discovered new nuances and subtleties in the plot and characters. The anime's ability to evoke emotions—from suspense to empathy—makes it a timeless masterpiece. Even though I know the outcome, the journey of watching Light Yagami navigate the labyrinth of morality and consequences is an experience that never loses its impact.
In conclusion, "Death Note" is my favorite in anime. The gripping narrative, complex characters, and exploration of moral themes make it a series I can watch repeatedly, each viewing bringing a renewed sense of fascination and appreciation for the intricacies of Light Yagami's descent into the rabbit hole of his own making.
Zendaya Superfan Scholarship
Zendaya is more than just a Hollywood star; she's a force of change in the fashion world. As she navigates through acting, singing, and activism, her impact on the fashion scene truly captures my admiration. In this essay, I want to dive into why Zendaya's influence in the fashion world is so inspiring, particularly in the context of diversity and empowerment.
Zendaya's journey in fashion isn't just about making bold style statements; it's about rewriting the rules and celebrating authenticity. Her journey resonates deeply with me as someone who shares a similar skin and body type. In an industry where diversity often takes a back seat, Zendaya has become a trailblazer, using her voice to redefine beauty standards.
What sets Zendaya apart is her unapologetic embrace of her uniqueness. She challenges the norms, proudly showcasing her natural beauty and rejecting the unrealistic ideals often imposed by the industry. This authenticity isn't just relatable; it's empowering. Zendaya's fearlessness becomes a beacon of inspiration for those who have struggled with self-acceptance in a world obsessed with rigid beauty standards.
Her collaborations with designers and brands aren't just about creating stunning looks; they're a deliberate choice to promote diversity. By teaming up with advocates for inclusivity, Zendaya contributes to a more representative portrayal of beauty in the media. Her appearances on red carpets aren't just fashion moments; they're potent statements that beauty knows no boundaries and comes in various forms.
Zendaya doesn't stop at being a style icon; she uses her influence to tackle systemic issues within the fashion industry. Her activism calls for equal opportunities, representation, and fair treatment for everyone, regardless of background. In pushing for change, Zendaya strives to leave a lasting impact beyond her success, such as the Tom Hilfiger show, where she features a diverse cast of black models while also paying homage to women who changed our lives for women.
The impact of Zendaya's fashion influence isn't confined to the glitz of runways; it seeps into societal perceptions and standards. By challenging stereotypes and championing a more inclusive definition of beauty, she becomes a symbol of empowerment for those who have felt marginalized. Zendaya's influence sparks a cultural shift that values authenticity over conformity.
Zendaya's fashion journey is more than a display of stunning outfits; it's a revolution. Her impact on the industry isn't just about style but diversity, empowerment, and authenticity. In embracing her uniqueness, Zendaya creates a space for individuals of diverse backgrounds, skin tones, and body types to see themselves celebrated. She is a powerful force for change in an industry that often perpetuates narrow beauty standards. Zendaya is not just a star; she's a source of inspiration for all of us, encouraging a generation to embrace their uniqueness and challenge societal norms.
Book Lovers Scholarship
In middle school, I found the book “speak” by Laura Anderson. As someone quiet, It stood out to me. Even though I didn't experience what the protagonist, Melinda Sordino, did, I still resonated with it because I felt a relatable attachment to her that stood out to me, wanting to follow the journey she was going through. The book is about a high school freshman grappling with a traumatic experience that leaves her choosing silence as her refuge. This story explores resilience, self-discovery, and the profound impact of finding one's voice. I quickly read the book within the week because of the authenticity that makes her journey relatable to anyone who faced challenges. What made “Speak “so great was its ability to touch raw and honest human emotion. The book goes beyond the personal, delving into the societal silence that often surrounds brutal truths, making it a story that resonates far beyond its fictional setting. Even though we may not have experienced what Melinda went through, it still pulls us into a relatable category that allows all readers to empathize with her. As readers witness Melinda's transformation, it becomes a mirror reflecting our own experiences, prompting us to connect with the struggles of those around us. Harry Potter and the Sorting Hat Scholarship
The Sorting Hat's song, a pivotal part of the Hogwarts Sorting Ceremony, defines the qualities of each house. While Slytherin House may evoke images of dark wizards and cunning plots for some, it's vital to recognize that Slytherin's values extend beyond ambition; they encompass determination, resourcefulness, and an unwavering drive to attain one's goals. These qualities are why I belong to Slytherin and would be a perfect fit for Slytherin.
During my earlier years of watching Harry Potter, I often identified with Gryffindor, inspired by the series' main characters. However, as I revisited the movies and books in high school, I drew more towards Slytherin. It became apparent that these traits resonated with my true self far more than Gryffindor's values. Even when I asked my fellow Harry Potter enthusiasts to guess my house, Slytherin consistently emerged as their first or second choice.
Ambition has been an integral part of my identity from a young age. It transcends a mere desire for success; it's about possessing a clear vision of one's desires and being unwaveringly committed to transforming that vision into reality. My ambition consistently propels me to set challenging goals and relentlessly pursue them, whether in academics, personal projects, or other facets of life.
Slytherin House is renowned for its determination and resilience in overcoming challenges. Its members understand that success often demands hard work, cunning, and strategic thinking. They are willing to employ any means to achieve their objectives, not because they are inherently vicious but because they are unafraid to go to great lengths to accomplish their goals. This philosophy profoundly resonates with me, as striving for excellence often requires unwavering determination and a willingness to think outside the box. Education is paramount to me and the path to my desired future. School remains my top priority, and I continuously push myself to excel academically and create networking opportunities.
Furthermore, Slytherins are celebrated for their resourcefulness. They excel in adapting to new situations and devising creative solutions to problems. I have always taken pride in my ability to think on my feet, adapt to changing circumstances, and find innovative ways to overcome obstacles. Slytherins view setbacks not as defeats but as opportunities for learning and growth. This resilience in the face of adversity is a quality that I deeply admire and embody.
Slytherin encourages the pursuit of self-improvement without hesitation. It fosters an environment where students are surrounded by like-minded individuals who share a determination to succeed. This sense of camaraderie and collective pursuit of greatness dramatically motivates me. Slytherin offers an environment where I can thrive and fully embrace my unapologetic self.
In conclusion, my unwavering ambition and determination align seamlessly with the values of Slytherin House. While some may associate Slytherin with dark wizards and witches, it is essential to recognize that ambition is not inherently dark or evil. When harnessed for positive purposes, it is a driving force that can lead to remarkable achievements. If I were to be sorted into Slytherin, I would eagerly seize the opportunity to learn from my housemates, channel my ambition towards noble pursuits, and flourish in an environment that treasures the relentless pursuit of one's dreams. As the Sorting Hat once sang, "Those cunning folks use any means to achieve their ends," I wholeheartedly embrace the path of ambition that Slytherin House offers.
SmartAsset College SmartStart Personal Finance Scholarship
Getting great pieces of financial guidance can have an impact on one's life in the world. Where having stable finances is essential. I've grown to understand the value of budgeting and saving as someone from a low-income family responsible for paying for their college education. The 80/20 rule—saving most of my income and managing the rest carefully—has proven to be the most helpful piece of financial advice I've ever received from my sister. The reason why it is the best financial advice I've received is because of the benefits of this guidance.
The most beneficial financial guidance I've ever heard highlighted how important it is to save a significant amount of my income. I commit to saving 80% of my income and using the remaining 20% for short-term needs by following the 80/20 rule. This strategy has enabled me to build up a sizeable financial buffer throughout the semester and summer. That has been quite helpful in coping with unforeseen expenses and the rising cost of attending college. The peace of mind you get from careful saving is one of its main benefits. It has been quite calming to know that I have money set aside for college costs, as it is my main objective for the year to be able to pay the out-of-pocket costs after the loans are added in. Additionally, this financial cushion has made it possible for me to focus more on my studies and personal development rather than continuously worrying about financial issues. The 80/20 rule has also facilitated long-term planning and preparedness. With tuition costs on the rise, saving the majority of my earnings has been a wise choice. As a result, I have been able to pay off the remaining balance of my student balance and, at the end of the semester, have some money for myself for the summer. The summer allows me to get a head start on the fall semesters. Moreover, this financial strategy has instilled in me a sense of discipline and control over my finances. By adhering to the 80/20 rule, I have developed good habits for budgeting and allocating my funds effectively. This practice has not only helped me navigate through college but has also laid the foundation for sound financial management in the years to come. The 80/20 rule has provided me with flexibility and adaptability in managing my finances. By saving a significant portion of my income, I have been able to adjust my budget accordingly and cover unexpected expenses without overstressing. This approach has been especially beneficial during the transition periods between college and my dorm. It's beneficial because when I go back to the dorm, I can already pay the first month's bill and then begin to restart for the next month when I start working at the work-study job again. Additionally, having a financial cushion has allowed me to seize opportunities when they arise. This flexibility has opened doors for me and broadened my horizons in terms of future possibilities. I will begin using the method more now that I'm working two jobs. I'm excited to put this method to more use to see how much I will be saving after the summer. In the beginning, it was tough to get started because, coming from a low-income family and beginning to make money, I didn't take saving seriously and just bought whatever I wanted that I wasn't able to get in the past, which was doing damage to me in the future.
In conclusion, the best financial advice I have received is to embrace the 80/20 rule and save the majority of my earnings. This approach has provided me with stability, security, and a sense of control over my financial situation. By adhering to this rule, I have been able to accumulate savings, plan for the future, and navigate through the challenges of financing my college education. The 80/20 rule has not only empowered me to meet my financial obligations but has also given me the flexibility to pursue personal and professional growth opportunities without undue stress. By prioritizing savings and wise financial management, I am confident that I will continue to build a strong foundation for a financially secure future. Ultimately, the 80/20 rule has not only provided me with a practical financial strategy but has also instilled in me valuable lessons about discipline, planning, and adaptability. By saving a significant portion of my earnings and wisely managing the rest, I have gained financial security, peace of mind, and the ability to seize opportunities. As I continue on my financial journey, I will remain committed to this advice, knowing this will pave the way for a prosperous future.
Jerome D. Carr Memorial Scholarship for Overcoming Adversity
You never know what someone is going through just by looking at them. When the pandemic came, quarantine was enforced. I drowned in overthinking. Right at the start, two friends stopped being my friends when I thought they would be a part of my life forever, and I never got closure on why. I stayed in my room throughout, just lying in bed, seeing everyone come up with new techniques on how not to be bored while stuck in the house on TikTok. I was bored. I knew I was mentally exhausted, and the online school didn't help me at all; it just made me feel worse. I didn't want to do the work, but I knew I would regret it. Because of the negative effects on my mental health, I put little effort into everything. My hobbies were doing makeup and drawing. After I was done, I would still try to do those hobbies and say to myself, "What do I do now?" In my career aspirations, I had no idea what to do. I wanted to be away from the toxic environment that was created. Relationships: I wouldn't know what to talk to them about. I would let them do the talking and pick the topics, but I knew they noticed that and were growing tired of it. I didn't know what to do career-wise. I had to come up with something; as a senior, I needed a plan. I did have two passions, but I did not know whether I would succeed. I was overthinking everything. That I would be a failure. I believed that I was going to be stuck in this feeling.
However, after graduating from high school and receiving acceptance letters from the colleges I desired to attend, I began to believe in myself and began to plan my future. My mood improved as I started college. I was in a new environment. My relationships were stronger than ever. repaired those that I fell short of and understood what I was going through. I believed I could get out of a rough situation, but if I ever felt myself falling again, I just needed to reach out to someone for help. I knew people were going through a rough time when the pandemic happened; many were vocal about it, while others were silent. I chose to stay silent, but after experiencing the negative side of mental health, I taught myself to show my friends they can be vocal about their struggles, and I will help them through it.
First-Year College Students: Jennie Gilbert Daigre Education Scholarship
I plan to make a positive impact on the world through my career by helping low income with their taxes or any other financial needs that an accountant can take care of. what inspired me to want to do this is because the VITA program that is held at my university where you volunteer we first have to learn how to do taxes which was such a fun experience and helping them figure out what to do for free and showing how much money they would end up getting back or what they need to do to be complete was wonderful to see them not having to stress when they have unlimited resources with them right now. After experiencing this using my accounting degree, I want to create a firm that is accessible to all and local to be closer to the community than being a big corporation. I want to be a beneficial factor in one's life where they do not have to worry about handling taxes throughout the tax season and worrying about the cost of having an accountant to help.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
I deserve this college because I need the money. Money is a crucial factor in college, and a girl needs as much help as possible. Unfortunately, my school tuition went up and dorm fees, so I am figuring out ways to save myself from loans.
My academic goals are to reach the most potential I can get with the rest of the three years I have and look good on paper for my career of becoming a CPA accountant.
I overcame an obstacle when I tested positive for covid because covid and college do not mix well together. My first semester was tough in mid-September due to not being there for the rest of the month. In addition, my grades were going down through the month due to not being able to complete assignments. However, I overcame this because as soon as I got better, I began tutoring ASAP to be caught up with my five classes as quickly as possible. this allowed me to have an excellent ending to my semester and have no more stress.
Destinie’s Dollars for Degrees Scholarship
How I would convince a peer to attend college if they did not want to is to start by hearing their why's of not wanting to go. For example, if it is financial, I would tell them that now there are many opportunities for them to be supported, same for going into debt; many resources available free to use. I would begin letting them know all the fantastic opportunities they can have just within the first semester by joining related groups to their major, getting internships, they help with interviews that are available to us. College allows us to be prepared for the real world and helps us get a head start on what could be expected to happen. In order to convince, I would share all the resources I have that allow me to attend college with a little less stress financially is the biggest reason no one wants to attend along with debt, so showing they are going to be okay and have help along the years. The fun they could have at college meeting many people worldwide to Hawaii, Tokyo, and much more can be excellent having a diverse environment around them. I would remind them that they would never be alone because I would be helping hand along the way, sharing the journey with them.
