    I Can Do Anything Scholarship
When I see myself in the future, I hope to have obtained a master’s degree in paleontology from a credible college.
    Big Picture Scholarship
The movie that has given me the largest impact on my life is “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Over 70 years later, the film continues to offer many important life lessons that can be applied to everyday life. One important message that I take from the movie is to not compare yourself to others around you. During the film, George talks about how he doesn't have the rich lifestyle that his friend Sam has or the heroic image that his brother has. It's not until the end of the movie that he realizes that he has a loving family that cares for him and that it is something that not many people around him have. I remind myself of this philosophy every day. I tell myself that I have a loving and supportive family and that no one can take that away from me. It helps motivate and assures me that I have many things that others around me do not. Another important message that the film features is that rewards can come from sacrifices and good deeds. Throughout the film, George is seen giving up his dreams and personal to help those around him. One example of this is after the death of George's father. Instead of traveling around the world, he chooses to stay in town to help run his family’s business. Another example is when George used his honeymoon savings to help his family's business afloat. George felt like he lost so much when he decided to rescue his colleagues. However, as we see in the ending, everyone he knew banded together to help him in his time of need. This ripple effect shows that small actions can lead to huge and rewarding outcomes. The last important lesson that I have taken from the movie is how one life can touch the lives of many others. George’s realization of his importance starts to develop as soon as he meets the angel Clarence. In the alternate reality in which he never existed, he slowly understands why his life is important. It's because of his bravery that he saved his brother from drowning, and it's because of his integrity that he prevented Mr. Potter from acquiring his company and potentially ruining the lives of those who live in Bedford Falls. At the end of the movie, George finally expresses his gratitude for everyone he has met and is thankful for the life that he was given. In the end, I believe “It’s a Wonderful Life” is an important movie for people to watch during the holiday season. No matter how many times you watch, you can somehow find an important and impactful lesson while listening to the plot of the film.
