Bio

Some of my life goals in life are not only making a lot of money as an adult. I think we can all agree that most adults wish to be making a lot of money, but I also want to pursue a lifestyle where I can provide for not only myself, but for a family. The only way to get there is through hard work, and nothing's easy in life. And you have to be able to take the good with the bad. At the end of the day, it's who wants it more gets it in the end. I'm really passionate about the creativity that this world can provide from drawing cartoons and coming up with fundraising ideas for my school. It’s a gift to be able to have an imaginative mind. It's so unique and powerful. To add to that, I love sports. I constantly talk about it all the time. I play baseball and basketball, and I used to run cross country growing up. I do strongly believe that there are many good candidates applying for all kinds of scholarships, including this one. But I believe I am a great candidate for not only having a creative and imaginative mind and having the ability to communicate with strangers and have full on conversations about any topic. And yes, scholarships are supposed to help with college, but I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't have a reason to be going to college. I want to go to college to not only learn, but to grow as a human being and become a better person.

Daniel R. Torres "Complete Your Dream” Memorial Scholarship
Daniel always said, “Complete your dream,” no matter how large or small. Reading this quote was a good reminder of my dream, because it might not sound big to some people, but to me it means everything. My dream is to rebuild homes and rent them to my community to have a place to live. I want to give back to the people of my town who have always supported me in my dream and show them how much I really appreciate everything that they have all done for me. It is a big inspiration in my life. They have taught me what love, hard work and support really looks like in the world, and they've given me encouragement that I needed to chase my goals even when I doubt myself because of them. I have learned that a lot of success is not just about personal gain, it's about lifting the people. Around me to help myself get there and help them get to their goals. And that's why my dream is focusing on giving and not just receiving from people. I really want to create something that helps benefit my family and other families and that gives them comfort and stability in a home. To reach the stream, I do know I have to take it step by step. My first step is, of course, education. I'm working hard in school because I know that knowledge is a huge effort option, the door of opportunities. Getting a good education will help me find a stable career that pays well enough for me to support. The goals that I have. Every class I pass, every challenge I will overcome, and every new skill I learn brings me one more step closer to being able to make that dream a reality. The trickiest part is the financial planning. I do know that rebuilding or renting a home takes careful savings and really smart choices. I started learning how to manage money from my dad's small business and being able to plan for the future. And I don't want to just reach my goal, I want to make sure that I do it the correct way and in a responsible way. It's very important to me that I do help my family. And I create this without stress. I want actions to make lives easier, not more difficult. Scholarship would help me a lot and take one more step toward the dream. Paying for school can be very hard and any help I receive will let me focus more on learning and less worrying about costs. Of college and with all of this support I can keep building my path forward and stay focused and what really matters most and becoming someone, I can truly make a difference for other families. I believe I do deserve this opportunity not only because I'm chasing my own success but I'm working for. Thing that will benefit people around me. When I do hopefully reach my goal, the impact will be more than just the financial part. I'll be able to give my community a place to live. Giving the opportunity for people to have a home that I was able to help provide and show them that their sacrifices and encouragement did pay off. I want to make my parents feel proud and my siblings to feel inspired from me and I want people to see that my dream was achievable. Because I didn't give up. Because dreams don't have to be big to matter. They just have to be from the heart. But not only will this dream help me help families and fix homes, it will also help me connect more with my community. I will hopefully be able to inspire people to do the same thing and help the community that they grew up in and make a difference. Helping people gives life meaning and I believe. A spark of kindness always sparks another, and when you encourage other people, they do the same with others. Daniel’s words, “Complete your dream,” remind me that dreams grow from purpose. My true purpose is to give back to those who have given me everything from guidance to hope to love. Rebuilding and renting a home for a family may seem small to some, but it can mean so much more. Families might struggle financially, and I want to give them the opportunity to live somewhere to be able to pick themselves back up. And give the ability for them to be courageous to live the lives that matter most. Every step that I'm going to take from studying, saving and planning brings me closer and closer to this dream. I know it will take time and patience and a lot of stress in the beginning, but I'm ready for that challenge. Completing this dream isn't just about building a simple house. It's about building something. Thing for our families and the love and appreciation that will last for generations. My family always believed in me, and I want to continue. And prove them that it didn't go to waste. In this scholarship will help so much. Because I know I can make my dream a reality.
