I am passionate about empowering others through knowledge, mentorship, and advocacy. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students and families, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed. As a Resource Coordinator for Family Focus Englewood, I witness firsthand how systemic barriers impact students’ academic and personal development. This experience has strengthened my commitment to creating lasting change rather than temporary solutions.
Beyond education, I am driven by a commitment to ethical leadership that ensures institutions serve communities with integrity, fairness, and accountability. I believe business and education must work together to foster equity, and my MBA has equipped me with the tools to bridge that gap effectively.
I am a strong candidate for this scholarship because I am dedicated to turning my education into meaningful action. My studies are not just for personal or professional growth: they are a foundation for building sustainable solutions that uplift entire communities. I have the passion, resilience, and strategic vision to make a lasting difference, and this scholarship will help me further develop my ability to do so.
With this opportunity, I will continue to expand my impact, advocate for educational equity, and strengthen ethical leadership practices that empower future generations.

Dr. Jade Education Scholarship
I remember walking through the doors of a local community center in Englewood for the first time, ready to lead a youth program I had designed from scratch. Seeing students’ eyes light up as they built robots, solved challenges, and shared their ideas reminded me of the power of opportunity. In that moment, I realized my dream is not just about personal success, it is about creating pathways for others to reach their potential. Living the life of my dreams means leading with purpose, using business as a tool to make communities stronger, and empowering others to achieve their own goals.
In my dream life, I am at the helm of a business or organization that blends financial success with social impact. I see myself leading a team of passionate professionals, developing programs and initiatives that provide opportunities for underserved communities. Whether it is mentoring young leaders, creating job pipelines, or launching initiatives that address health disparities, my work would create measurable change. This vision grew from my experiences as a program coordinator, where I connected families with resources such as books, baby supplies, and workforce development opportunities. Each small success reinforced my belief that I could use business principles to scale impact and transform lives on a broader level.
Living my dream life also means continuous learning and growth. I imagine myself leveraging the skills, knowledge, and networks gained from completing my MBA to make strategic decisions, develop sustainable programs, and lead with innovation. I see myself as a problem solver who can analyze complex challenges, design solutions, and inspire others to take action. My dream is to create systems that not only achieve financial success but also leave a lasting positive mark on the people and communities they serve.
Finally, my dream life is balanced and intentional. It is not just about professional achievement it is about living in alignment with my values of service, equity, and integrity. I see a life where I can mentor others, contribute to community growth, and model leadership that is inclusive and compassionate. I imagine mornings spent planning impactful programs, afternoons collaborating with diverse teams, and evenings celebrating milestones with the communities and colleagues I serve.
Living the life of my dreams is about impact, purpose, and leadership. It is a life where my work creates opportunities, my decisions empower others, and my vision turns into action. With the foundation of my experiences and the education I am gaining through my MBA, I am building a future that is not only successful in business but transformative for the communities I care about.
Marilynn Walker Memorial Scholarship
I still remember the first time I coordinated a youth program in Englewood, helping students explore STEM, social emotional learning, and health. Watching their eyes light up when they realized they could solve problems, lead projects, and dream bigger reminded me of the power of guidance and opportunity. That experience planted the idea that I wanted to not only help people directly, but also shape systems that create opportunities at a larger scale. Pursuing my MBA is the next step in turning that vision into action and expanding my ability to make a meaningful impact.
My professional background is rooted in connecting people with resources and building programs that make a difference. As a Resource Coordinator, I have worked with families to ensure they have access to books, baby supplies, workforce development opportunities, and more. I have overseen educational programs that help students develop critical life skills, and I have managed data to measure program impact. These experiences taught me the importance of leadership, organization, and strategy, but they also revealed areas where I needed more formal training to make a greater impact in both business and community development.
Higher education is helping me fill those gaps. Through my MBA, I am learning how to combine my hands on experience with business strategy, financial management, and organizational leadership. These skills will allow me to design programs that are not only meaningful, but also sustainable and scalable. I want to lead initiatives that create opportunities for underrepresented communities, build diverse teams, and implement systems that maximize both social and financial outcomes. My MBA is giving me the tools to translate passion into results, and to lead with purpose and vision in every project I undertake.
Equally important, earning my MBA is teaching me resilience, adaptability, and strategic thinking. Balancing coursework with professional responsibilities has pushed me to prioritize, plan, and problem solve in real time, skills that will be critical as I move into higher level leadership roles. These lessons go beyond business, shaping how I approach challenges, make decisions, and mentor others along the way.
All in all, higher education is more than a degree, it is a bridge to broader impact. My MBA will allow me to combine my community focused background with business knowledge to lead initiatives that are equitable, sustainable, and innovative. I am determined to use what I learn to open doors for others, create opportunities in underserved communities, and prove that business can be a force for meaningful change. Completing my MBA will not only strengthen my career, but also expand the reach of the work I am most passionate about.
