Bio

My name is Andrea, and I am a senior from Anton, Texas. I am currently pursuing dual credit courses through South Plains College, where I have earned 21 college credits by the end of last summer and continue to work toward more. I maintain a 3.6 GPA while actively engaging in both academics and extracurricular activities. I am a proud member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, UIL, Yearbook, and FCCLA. I also serve as the manager for the boys’ basketball team and previously managed varsity football. In addition, I was part of the track and field team, competing in shot put and discus, before stepping back due to a hip injury. Even though my athletic path changed, I continue to stay involved and give back to my school and community through leadership and service. These experiences have taught me dedication, balance, and perseverance—values that guide me both in and out of the classroom.

Balancing track and field while managing basketball and football has been one of the most defining experiences of my high school journey. As a member of the track and field team, I competed in shot put and discus—events that required strength, focus, and determination. Each practice and meet challenged me not just physically, but mentally, teaching me to stay disciplined and push through even when progress was slow. At the same time, managing both basketball and football gave me a deeper understanding of leadership, teamwork, and accountability. Supporting my teams from the sidelines taught me that real leadership doesn’t always mean being in the spotlight—it means helping others succeed. Balancing these responsibilities alongside my academics was not always easy. Between sports, classes, and community commitments, I was also actively involved in Dual Credit courses, Yearbook, Student Council, Academic UIL, FCCLA, and the National Honor Society. Each activity shaped me in meaningful ways—Yearbook strengthened my creativity and attention to detail, Student Council developed my communication and leadership skills, FCCLA reminded me of the importance of serving others, and NHS encouraged me to uphold excellence in both academics and character. Managing all of these responsibilities taught me discipline, organization, and the value of hard work—skills that continue to guide me in everything I do. Unfortunately, I had to step away from track and field after a hip injury that changed my path. That moment was difficult, but it became a turning point in my life. What originally inspired me to step into managing and athletic training was the encouragement of Coach Hoover. He believed in me even when I doubted myself. He had a gift for seeing potential in his students and athletes, often reminding us that character mattered more than titles. Coach Hoover taught me what it means to lead with heart and integrity, to show up for others, and to never let setbacks define you. After his passing, my career path shifted—it no longer felt the same without his presence. Yet, his lessons continue to guide me. Every time I support a team, help organize an event, or encourage a classmate, I think about how much he influenced the person I’ve become. His legacy taught me that success is about more than achievements—it’s about impact, perseverance, and kindness. Even though I am no longer a track athlete, I carry Coach Hoover’s influence and the lessons of sports with me every day. They’ve shaped me into someone determined to grow, to lead with purpose, and to make a difference in the lives of others—just as he did for me, and for that I will forever be grateful.
