I was inspired to pursue my advanced certification of a bachelor of nursing by seeing the way a hospital works and how beneficial and significant a nurse can be. My entire family is made of education majors that are all in the school system. I never had an interest in the education department and loved the works of medicine. It is not just one person that makes a hospital function, it is not only the doctors and surgeons who get recognized but the nurses as well. I had surgery in December of 2020 right when the pandemic was starting and I remember that my nurses who helped me didn't change anything that they would originally do but have extra protection. I remembered that they said everything that they were doing and why they were doing it. They were so detailed in their work with me and I noticed that they demonstrated it with the other patients around me. They would help me when I had to go to the bathroom every two hours when it was the middle of the night and they were always so happy to help me and they didn't judge me or scold me once. They are a huge reason why I want to be a nurse. I want the be the nurse who is there for the patients for what they need in order to feel their best even if they aren't fully functional after major surgery. I want to be the nurse that works to the best of my ability with each and every patient that I have so that I can assure that they are reaching their premium health. My goals in nursing are to be a traveling nurse with a focus on general surgery. I have shadowed a few times in the OR with a few OR nurses and was able to see how they work and all that they do when a procedure is happening. My goal is to become a traveling nurse so that I could explore what the rest of the world is like while also serving the purpose of helping people achieve medical attention if they need it. I have always been a person who has volunteered to help support others in their medical needs even if that was just a bandaid. I want to serve a bigger purpose in life to those who may be less fortunate when it comes to medical help but also to learn about new cultures and how different other countries are from the United States.
