Hi, I’m Anautica. I am a first-generation college student and aspiring physician with a heart for service, a love for people, and a deep faith that guides everything I do. I’m currently pursuing a career in healthcare, with the goal of becoming a doctor who provides compassionate, patient-centered care, especially to those facing life’s most difficult moments.
For the past four years, I’ve worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and through that experience, I discovered a deep passion for hospice care. Supporting patients and families during end-of-life care has taught me the value of presence, empathy, and dignity in healthcare.
Outside of work and school, I serve as a youth mentor at my church and babysit regularly. I believe in pouring into the next generation and being a steady, encouraging voice in young lives, just as others have done for me.
As a first-gen student, my journey hasn’t been easy, and financial challenges have made it even harder to pursue my dreams. But my faith, resilience, and strong support system keep me moving forward. Scholarships through Bold.org help students like me continue their education and live out their calling.

As a first-generation college student pursuing a degree in the sciences, I’ve experienced firsthand the balance between purpose and pressure. My path to a career in healthcare has been shaped by determination, long hours of work, and an unwavering desire to serve others, especially those navigating the most vulnerable stages of life. I plan to attend medical school and specialize in hospice care, a field I’ve come to love through my work as a Certified Nursing Assistant over the past four years.
Being an undergraduate STEM student comes with academic rigor, but it’s the financial side of higher education that has posed some of my greatest challenges. Like many first-generation students, I’ve navigated college largely on my own without the financial safety nets or resources many of my peers have. Tuition, textbooks, lab fees, and reliable transportation quickly add up. I’ve taken breaks from school in the past simply because the cost became too difficult to manage, even while working multiple jobs.
Currently, I balance my CNA shifts with mentoring youth at my church and babysitting to help cover day-to-day expenses. These roles, while demanding, have deeply shaped my character and strengthened my commitment to my goals. Mentoring young girls in my community reminds me of the importance of representation in medicine and the power of planting seeds of possibility in others. While I’m proud of the work I do, I also recognize that every extra hour spent working is time away from my studies time I need to succeed in my science courses and stay on track for graduation.
Receiving this scholarship would ease the financial weight I carry and give me the freedom to reallocate my time and energy where it’s needed most: academics, mental health, and preparation for the next stage of my journey. It would allow me to invest in study tools, tutoring, and course materials without hesitation, and to build a stronger academic foundation for medical school. More than that, it would offer peace of mind a sense of security that would allow me to fully engage with my education, rather than constantly trying to stay afloat.
Long term, I hope to use my education and life experience to serve both patients and future students. My dream is to not only work in hospice and end-of-life care, but also to mentor other first-generation college students particularly young women of color in STEM who may feel isolated or overwhelmed on their path. I want to help create bridges where there were once barriers.
This scholarship is more than just financial relief; it represents belief in my future, my purpose, and my ability to pay it forward. I am excited about the opportunity to grow, give back, and represent those who, like me, are working hard to turn possibility into impact.
