Bio

I’m in the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School. I enjoy sports and being active. I play basketball and softball at my high school. I have been involved in student government the past three years of high school, serving as my class' treasurer for two years and currently being the school-wide Vice President. I have attended and participated in multiple leadership workshops within my school and even city-wide one. I was given a great opportunity to intern for 4 months at a local law firm. I also hold a job where I work three days a week for 6 hours as a Starbucks barista. I love helping my community like volunteering to help with elections, doing events at the elementary schools and community centers, and even delivering food to elderly people who may not have the ability to get it themselves. Along with my other clubs, I am also involved in numerous honor societies such as National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, and Legal Studies Honor Society. I would like to go into the pre-med field and get the highest degree possible. I am an extremely well-driven individual and would absolutely make all scholarship money worth every penny.

I am a student in the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, VA and I have a 3.9 GPA. I completed an internship for 6 months at the Virginia Beach Law Group during my junior year. I am also the Vice President of my school and was the city-wide school student representative. I am in many different clubs that go out and help the community such as leadership workshops and the National Honor Society. National Honor Society is a community-based honor society and we have to do a certain amount of volunteering opportunities to maintain our good standing along with good grades and no disciplinary actions. I am also the head of the Inductions Committee. I was a part of the mental health awareness committee at my school as well as the head of fundraising to do donation drives for the local shelters and schools near us. Along with helping out in the community, I played on the Girls' Varsity Basketball team for 3 years and the softball team for one year. I have attended many events that have formed my leadership like going to the National Student Leadership Conference at Georgetown University and being accepted into the Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for Humanities at Radford University where I studied on campus for a month. I also attended the Virginia Beach Leadership Workshop for a week held at Virginia Wesleyan University. Along with all of the leader-transforming conferences that I attended, I also attended some that have been important to me such as the African-American Summit held by Regent University and competing in a mock trial at Regent University's Law School with law student mentors for a weekend. I will be attending the College of William & Mary and plan to pursue the pre-med path to hopefully become a travel nurse to help not only people from my local area but everywhere. This scholarship will provide me with the money to be able to pursue my college degree and further education such as going to medical school. I believe that I make many contributions to my community from being the local Starbucks barista all the usuals know to help deliver meals to the elderly who can't provide for themselves. I've always volunteered at elementary school events and food drives near me. It has impacted me by showing that even the smallest of hands make a large impact on the community and bring everyone together. Additionally, during my senior year, I have been working hard on my senior project which is a 13-page paper that outlines the direct correlation between race, quality of education, and residential location. To make a difference and put my paper to good use, I decided to hold tutoring sessions at a low-income apartment complex community center that is zoned for the elementary school in Virginia Beach with the lowest rankings. This will help the students get the extra resources that they may not receive at school or home.

    Aspiring Musician Scholarship
Its power to evoke emotions, transcend language, and create connections has bestowed upon me a unique perspective, fostering empathy, cultural appreciation, and a profound understanding of the human experience. Through the transformative influence of music, my worldview has evolved, embracing harmony, diversity, and the limitless possibilities of artistic expression. Music has been a compass guiding me through the intricate landscapes of human emotions. It has enabled me to explore and comprehend the vast spectrum of feelings that define our existence. From the haunting strains of a melancholic melody to the uplifting rhythm of a joyous composition, music has taught me empathy by inviting me to experience the emotions of others. It has reminded me that every person carries a unique narrative, and by delving into their stories through music, I have cultivated a deep sense of compassion and a genuine desire to connect with people on a deeper level. The universality of music transcends cultural boundaries, providing a window into the richness and diversity of human heritage. By immersing myself in various musical genres from around the world, I have gained a profound appreciation for the multiplicity of cultural expressions. Whether I'm savoring the intricate melodies of Indian classical ragas or surrendering to the rhythmic allure of Latin American salsa, music has broadened my horizons, offering glimpses into the traditions, beliefs, and values that shape different societies. This exposure has fostered a global perspective, dismantling stereotypes, and instilling in me a deep respect for cultural diversity. Throughout history, music has served as a powerful catalyst for social change, sparking revolutions, and awakening dormant consciences. Songs have carried messages of protest, shed light on societal injustices, and challenged prevailing norms. Engaging with music that resonates with social commentary has prompted me to reflect critically on the world around me. It has inspired me to question inequities, advocate for justice, and be an agent of positive transformation. Music has taught me that artists have a unique ability to inspire change and influence society, and it has fueled my own desire to utilize my creative voice to make a difference. Within the realm of music, I have found a sanctuary for personal growth and self-discovery. It has nurtured my creativity, encouraged self-expression, and provided an outlet for my emotions. Whether it was mastering an instrument, composing a melody, or engaging in collaborative performances, music has taught me the virtues of discipline, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. It has revealed the transformative power of dedication and the fulfillment that comes from challenging oneself. Beyond the boundaries of music, these lessons have shaped my worldview, reminding me of the boundless possibilities of personal growth and the importance of pushing beyond limitations. In the symphony of life, music has woven itself into the very fabric of my being, influencing the way I perceive the world and encouraging me to embrace its beauty and complexities. Through music, I have discovered empathy, cultural appreciation, and the profound impact of creative expression. It has shaped my worldview, reminding me of the importance of compassion, diversity, and the power of unity. As I continue to embark on my journey, music will forever serve as a guiding force, harmonizing my perceptions and inspiring me to contribute positively to a world that resonates with the transformative power of artistic expression.

So, I am very driven to be involved in my community and make a difference. So, I am very driven to be involved in my community and make a difference.

I have been playing basketball since I have five years old and it was really my first love. I also played softball and flag football growing up which helped form who I am today because clearly sports is all I’ve ever known. I have attended many events that have formed my leadership like going to the National Student Leadership Conference at Georgetown University and being accepted into the Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for Humanities at Radford University where I studied on campus for a month. I am passionate about sports because it has given me an outing to go to when life gets overwhelming. It has created such amazing bonds with people I never would’ve met otherwise. It helps me discover how to be a team player and the support that you get from teammates is unlike anything else because teammates have seen you at your very best and your lowest. Unfortunately, I had to give up sports because of an injury my senior year but I strive to get back into it in college.

So, I am very driven to be involved in my community and make a difference.

I completed an internship for 6 months at the Virginia Beach Law Group during my junior year. I am also the Vice President of my school and was the city-wide school student representative. So, I am very driven to be involved in my community and make a difference.

He always lives his life to the fullest and no matter how hard it gets, I promise you, he's always smiling. He's probably one of the happiest people I know which says a lot about a person, but deep down he's not that happy of a person. He took his own life when I was 11. But he did so well at hiding it and so he had a positive impact on my life because I now cannot meet new people without always checking up on them all hours of the day.

I want to pursue the pre-med path and take biochemistry along the way because I think everything about science is interesting and I haven't gotten the opportunity to figure out what I specifically like while in high school. I have my mind set on becoming an anesthesiologist however, following the pre-med path will allow me to choose from multiple opportunities that I get so that could always change.

    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
I believe mental health is important because it affects everything. Our friendships, workplace, school, and everything else in our lives. Many people struggle with mental illnesses and can't help that and don't know how to get better. This is why sometimes mental illnesses take over people's lives to the point where they can't deal with it anymore resulting in a loss. This happened to my uncle who struggled with depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, and a lot more. It took over his whole life to the point where he was literally drowning. I have struggled with my mental wellness for a while mostly due to being overly stressed out between school, college, clubs, and sports, plus working 20 hours at my job. I haven't completely solved all my problems but I am currently working on maintaining them. I have a therapist available to me that I can talk to when necessary, but I also let others know that I will always happily help them in a time of need and will be there for them if they ever need an open pair of ears.
    Act Locally Scholarship
I give back a lot to my community between volunteering with local elections and just knowing everyone in my neighborhood who end up being customers at the Starbucks that I work at.

I am planning on pursuing the pre-med path hopefully in order to become an anesthesiologist in the future. I want to make a positive impact on the world by helping others. Anesthesiologists are doctors who keep the patient's body under watch during surgery. There is also always a need for doctors and I want to be someone to fill that need in order to help others.

    Giving Thanks Scholarship
The people in my photo are my very special friends. They make life worth living and I’m so thankful to have them in my life every single day. As a military child, I’m constantly moving so it’s really hard to make solid friendships and relationships. But when I moved to Kentucky, it was different. I was growing up, so I could have people over at my house and go places with them, which made our friendships stronger. Kentucky made the biggest impact on me because of the people who are in it. I honestly think it’s very funny that I only lived there for 13 months, but yet made my lifelong best friends. They come and visit every summer, here in Virginia and I go to see them every break or extended weekend that both school districts have at the same time and let me tell you, that is a pain in the butt. I love every single one of these people to death and they’ve made me the person I am today.
