Bio

I'm Anaid, my goal is to get my masters or PhD in Psychology. I would like to become a traveling psychologist or a clinical psychologist. I am planning on study abroad in January 2023 at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy. As a first generation college student it is difficult for me to believe I can accomplish these goals, I have dealt with many challenges in my life. My main goal is to become a full time psychologist in the UK. I want to be able to help people find happiness in peace within themselves and the world. Everyone needs someone who understands them. Friends of mine have always came to me with their problems and I was always there to help them, this sparked me interest in the psychology area. I love helping, talking, and listening to others!

    Bold Great Books Scholarship
I have read, give or take, fifty books over the past year. It is hard for me to choose my favorite book. I read a lot of genres of books. The more thought I put into this question, the more I came back to the first book I had bought myself after being in a reading slump for more than two years. When I was in elementary school I loved reading, then I hated it all through out high school. Now that I am older and more mature, I love reading. When I read, I'm happy and at peace. I escape the world around me and forget all the bad things this world has made me feel. The book is called "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" by V.E. Schwab. The book is like the movie The Age of Adeline. This book has touched my heart and made me feel emotions I can not express. The word choice was perfect, it was like I could feel what the characters were going through. At the end I cried and could not stop thinking about the book. My heart will always belong to this book. As I was reading this book I put sticky tabs on sentences that meant something to me and that held a hidden life lesson behind it. My book was filled with at least twenty five or more of them. I let my best friend borrow my book and she as well put some of her own sticky tabs on it. She said whenever she ran into one of mine, she would read the sentence over again and try to figure out why it stood out to me.

Everyone has goals in life, some more than others. Some work hard to accomplish their goals while others just dream of accomplishing them. As a young child I have had dreams but have always feared that I would not accomplish them. Now being a 19 year old female who has found their passion, I know that I will work hard to reach my goals. A goal of mine since I graduated high school was to study in a foreign country. This year I finally felt like it was time so I applied to study abroad in the year 2023 in Bristol, a city in England. I would continue my studies there if I get accepted into the program. By doing this I would learn gain independence and seek new opportunities. During my time over there I am planning to get a job and meet with people in the universities psychology department to further my knowledge on how to become a psychologist in the UK. I once read that there are several countries that are low on psychologists/therapists and that sparked my interested in becoming a traveling psychologist. After earning my bachelors degree I will then obtain my masters in psychology, further down the line I may go for my PhD. This subject has always been a passion of mine, I have several books regarding psychology, human behavior, and addiction. Another career goal of mine is to become a clinical psychologist. I am aware that becoming one can be draining, but knowing that I am helping another person brings me peace. I have a book that talks about becoming a clinical psychologist, after buying this book I realized it was about becoming one in the UK and not the US. It is still helpful in many aspects though. As a first generation college student it is difficult for me to believe I can accomplish these goals, I have dealt with many challenges in my life. At times it can be difficult to navigate the school system, my family and I deal with low income and FAFSA does not help as much as I thought they would. There are also psychological challenges I have faced, feeling anxious and unprepared, and guilty for having to leave my family to pursue my educational goals. Family conflicts are a common thing in first generation student families as well. I have this vision of mine where I will be a therapist for people in the UK, I want to conduct research to show that foreign countries need these health care providers as well, we need to be more accessible for them. This vision will be a positive impact on the world because it would show how countries other than the United States need more therapists and psychologists. It would bring awareness to how expensive and out of reach these services can be. I know I will make a difference in this world if I truly believe in myself.
