Maxwell Tuan Nguyen Memorial Scholarship
I would like to achieve a higher education; it has been my dream to continue school besides completing high school. Since I was a little girl, I have always had the skills and compassion to help others whenever they are sick. It makes me happy being able to help others in any way I can be helpful. That is what I want to do to make a difference, I know we are all here in this world for a purpose and my focus is to help and cure others. I want to get a Bachelor of Nursing degree, I will be a CNA soon and after I want to go to college and get a bachelor's degree, pass the NCLEX to become a registered nurse and then transition to the NICU area and be officially a NICU nurse. I know passing the NCLEX is hard, but I would put all my effort into studying and school because I want to achieve my goals and have a better life for me. I will work as a registered nurse for about 2 years to get some experience then transfer to the neonatal area to care for the newborns and other babies. Work in the Tri-Cities for the first years then I would like to move to some other big city like Seattle or California I know life costs in big cities is way more higher than smaller but I want to move and change my life a little to take a break from living here in the Tri-Cities and see if there's any better opportunities for me out there in the healthcare industry. I have always been a person that loves babies, and I want to be able to take care of them and help them with my knowledge and for them to recover and be healthy. I want to make this world better and with my skills I will help others. Babies are the passion I'm going for, they are the most fragile and I want to help them get better because for whatever reason or condition they have its not their fault for being born that way I want to cure them and see them grow to a young and healthy person and look back and remember I did something to help that person get to the place their at in that moment that would make me really happy. I want to be able to continue my education to show others that not because our grandparents, parents and other past Hispanic generations have not been able to get pass a high school diploma, means that we cannot neither or that we are not smart enough or capable because everyone is. If you have a dream, you can make that your reality and not a goal anymore. You just need a positive mindset and good people around you. By getting my bachelor's degree I want my family to feel proud of me for making it and being able to become something important, that all their hard work was not for nothing and it payed off by giving their kids a good life. I want to be the first generation in my family to go to college and get a bachelor's degree. I want to be something in life that my future kids can look up to and be proud of what their mom has done. I want to get my career put together by the age of 25. To show everyone that if you want something you can make it happen even if it seems hard and impossible because nothing is.

I have always been a person that loves babies, and I want to be able to take care of them and help them to recover. I live in a low-income Mexican household with my parents and older sister, with only my dad being the provider for us. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment with nothing luxuries or big at all. Scholarship support is essential to continue my education as it would be a lot of money and responsibility for my dad to pay my college tuition. My family would have to make sacrifices and cut down a few things or bills to be able to pay for my education. I want to be able to continue my education to show others that not because our grandparents, parents, and other past Hispanic generations have not been able to get past a high school diploma, means that we cannot either or that we are not smart enough or capable because everyone is. The Mexican people's reputation is that they work hard but few get the chance to go to college and get to be someone in life. By getting my bachelor's degree I want my family to feel proud of me for making it and being able to become something important, that all their hard work was not for nothing, and that it paid off by giving their kids a good life. My name is Ana Plascencia I am a 17 year old student. I am enrolled in Tri-Tech Skills Center as for the Pre-Nursing program, so far I have been enjoying it. I am really excited to see what the future has for me and continuing my education in the medicine field. I have always had love towards helping others with anything I can be useful. I find it comforting for me, I feel like everyone in this world has a purpose to be here and I belong in the healthcare system as a nurse to help those ill. Most of my life I have had issues in which I go to the doctors, and they make mistakes or either they cannot identify the issue or some other not professional ways to treat patients. In which from that it has made me think that I want to change that and be better society should try to help each other. Everyone deserves the right to proper medical care; the possibility of becoming a doctor is still an open window for me. I am soon to become a CNA, which is the start of my journey in the medical field, then the goal is to be a Registered Nurse and furthermore education is what I desire in the future. As for a specific healthcare area to be a nurse, for the moment I aspire to be in the NICU area and Pediatrics field to look after children/babies. I have always loved babies, playing with or anything having to do with them is my adoration. I am also good with babies, and they like me all of them that I have been surrounded by. My ex-boyfriend's nephew was born with a malfunction in which he might not be able to walk. Occasionally I try to check up and see how his family and him are, but he is still in the NICU his about 5 months now and I think about him all the time. No baby deserves anything like that because of that my purpose is to help babies recover from any complication in their health and be there to support the family and do my best at my job. I plan to attend WSU Tri-Cities or CBC yet have not decided, I could also do my first two years of pre-requisites at CBC as it is a community college, and it is a bit more affordable and after that transfer to WSU to pursue my BSN.

Earning the scholarship would help me fulfill my dreams by being able to attend college and pursue my dream of becoming a NICU nurse. It will help me cover some of the cost of college to make it financially easier for me by having some extra money to pay for my tuition. I want to attend college not only to be able to have my dream career but also to make my family proud and be the first woman and first generation to have a higher education and get a bachelor's degree. By June 2025 I will be a CNA, and I plan to get a higher education level by attending college or a university. I will get a bachelor's degree in nursing to become a registered nurse, then work for about two years to get some experience and hands-on experience in the healthcare environment, and then transfer to the neonatal area, most known as the NICU area. I want to help people and everyone in general. I have a dream I would help both in the process of achieving my dream career which is to be a NICU nurse and provide the best care for newborns and other babies. I love to take care of people and trying to help them in any way possible that I can. I have always had a special love for babies, I love to be around them, they are the most precious thing on earth but also the most delicate in all aspects. I know a family which is going through a tough time. I do not know all the details, but the baby has been in NICU for the past 3 months since he was born with the news that he might not be able to walk. I wish I could do something to help but meanwhile I am working hard and studying because I know one day I am going to be able to help and try to cure babies.
