      Lotus Scholarship
Coming from a low-income household and now raising six children as a single mother taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of never giving up. Life has not always been easy, and there have been moments where balancing financial stress, parenting, school, and everyday responsibilities felt overwhelming. However, those challenges motivated me to work harder and continue pursuing a better future. As a first-generation college student pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, I understand how important education can be in changing the direction of a family’s future. Being raised with limited resources taught me how to appreciate every opportunity, stay disciplined, and remain determined even when obstacles arise. I want my children to grow up seeing that perseverance, hard work, and education can open doors regardless of someone’s background or circumstances. My life experiences have inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare where I can make a positive impact on others. I want to become a compassionate sonographer who helps patients feel comfortable, supported, and cared for during vulnerable moments in their lives. Ultrasound is often one of the first steps in helping patients receive answers and proper medical care, and I want to be part of that process while treating every patient with empathy and kindness. I also hope to inspire other women, single parents, and first-generation students to continue pursuing their goals despite hardships. I want others to see that difficult circumstances do not define someone’s future. I am actively working toward my goals every day by balancing full-time school, studying, parenting, and financial responsibilities while staying committed to completing my degree. Although the journey has been challenging, I continue pushing forward because I know my education will create opportunities not only for myself, but for my children and future generations as well.
      Grover Scholarship Fund
As a single mother of six and a first-generation college student, pursuing my education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography has required determination, sacrifice, and resilience. I chose this career path because I wanted a profession where I could quickly enter the workforce while still building a stable and meaningful future for my family. Attending an accredited sonography program has given me the opportunity to work toward a healthcare career that combines technical skill, compassion, and the ability to make a direct impact on patients’ lives. My career objective is to become a skilled and compassionate diagnostic medical sonographer who provides quality patient care while continuing to grow professionally within the medical field. I want to specialize in areas such as OB/GYN or abdominal sonography because I understand how important comfort, reassurance, and clear communication are during vulnerable medical situations. My goal is not only to perform accurate exams, but also to help patients feel respected, heard, and cared for during their appointments. Being a full-time student while raising six children has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. Between balancing classes, studying, parenting, transportation, and financial responsibilities, there are many days that feel overwhelming. Despite these hardships, I continue pushing forward because I know education can change the direction of my family’s future. I want my children to grow up seeing that perseverance and hard work can create opportunities no matter where someone starts in life. Financially, attending school has been difficult. Supporting a large household while paying for tuition, books, supplies, transportation, and daily living expenses creates constant pressure. Although trade and vocational programs provide a faster pathway into a career, the costs are still significant, especially as a single parent with limited financial support. Receiving this scholarship would help ease some of that burden and allow me to focus more fully on completing my education successfully. What motivates me most is the future I am building for my children and myself. I want to create stability, security, and a life where my children no longer have to struggle financially. I also hope to inspire others, especially women, first-generation students, and single parents, to continue pursuing their goals despite obstacles. This scholarship would not only support my education, but also invest in a future healthcare professional who is committed to making a positive impact through compassion, service, and perseverance.
