Growing up, I have always loved two things: people and education. These passions followed me everywhere as I pursued voluntary roles to offer tutoring virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic and then later in college as a peer tutor in general chemistry and biology courses and the human anatomy course. I loved seeing others thrive, just as much as I loved sharing knowledge with them. However, I had a particular interest in the life sciences that I could not let go of. More specifically, I always gravitated towards learning about the human body and the way everything worked in tandem, and I decided I wanted to contribute to society through offering compassion and education through medicine. Pursuing the career of a physician assistant was the perfect combination I could have ever imagined. Not only would I have the privilege of learning alongside a physician and an amazing team of healthcare workers, but I would also be able to continue sharing medical education with patients, ensuring that they, too, feel just as knowledgeable and confident in their healthcare journey. I know that I am likely never going to be the smartest person in the room, but I also know that I have the tenacity, drive, and discipline to work harder, learn more, and effectively serve others in the way that they deserve to be helped and cared for. Having the chance of lessening the financial burden of getting an education would not just simply lower the cost of school, but it would allow me to put more energy into the things I often put at the forefront: people and education.
