š Academic Excellence & Passion for Learning: Throughout my educational journey, I have consistently pursued academic excellence. I have received Honor Rolls throughout middle school and in high school, my dedication to learning is clear. My passion for education extends beyond school alone, as I continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
š Community Engagement & Leadership: Outside of academics, I am deeply involved in my community, serving as a teacher at my local mosque and actively initiating events to foster unity. As a member of the Student Council, I contribute to shaping the student experience and advocating for positive change. Furthermore, as the President of my school's Pre-Med Club and an advisory member of our school's Model UN Club, I lead initiatives that promote academic and personal development among students.
š Achievements & Recognition: My dedication and contributions will continue to grow. Winning the Best Delegate award at the University of Alberta's annual HSMUN conference this year showcases my knack for leadership. The obstacles I have faced in my academic journey have made me resilient. My journey began in Pakistan. I am an Ahmadi Muslim and Ahmadis are constantly persecuted in Pakistan. Our places of worship are being destroyed, we are being burned alive all under the eyes of the government. My dad got shot while praying and by the grace of God, he survived. Another incident I will never forget is when a man once attempted to strangle me, and when we called the police they did absolutely nothing. My dad told me that the man told them we were Ahmadi before running away. You may sound surprised but this is only a glimpse of how corrupt Pakistan is. I could not go to school so I was taught in a small cabin near my house with other Ahmadi girls. Despite the rough conditions, I was still a top student, my teacher took pride in me. Once we got to Canada, the new language and culture was a huge barrier for me. I vividly remember my elementary teacher being annoyed with me and singaling me out often. In middle school, my speaking abilities improved, and my true talents became more visible. Now as a high school student, I have mastered English and throughout middle school and high school, I have achieved honors. This year I participated in the annual High School Model United Nations (HSMUN) conference, I was part of the Arab league representing Jordan, and got the best delegate award. I am the president of my school's Pre-Medical club which is a national finalist for the Ingenious+ 2024 award. My potential had always been hidden but now that I have grown I am reaching new heights. Looking ahead, my aspirations are clear. When I am done studying and have earned my M.D, I hope to perform Waqf-Zindagi (meaning life devotion) It's when Ahmadis devote their lives to serving humanity. I hope to work in third-world countries delivering medical support, and providing relief. I still get threats from Pakistan and non-Ahmadi families. We may be persecuted but when we receive hate, we deliver love.
