Lebron James. I have been a fan of Lebron James for a long time.Aside from being a basketball star he is also a pretty decent human being. I admire his approach to expressing his thoughts on social issues. This makes him an ideal role model. Lebron feels compelled to share his thoughts on societal issues in order to demonstrate to others that it is okay to express your own beliefs. Many Americans, including myself find encouragement in his journey from modest beginnings in Ohio to becoming one of the worlds most accomplished athletes. When compared to other players he is considered the goat for many reason. Few sportsmen have attained the level of success and fame that Lebron has he has accomplished this by having such an unwavering desire to succeed in basketball. When asked if he is the greatest player of all time I would say absolutely . Being the NBA’s all time playoff leading scorer, and holding records of being the first in NBA all-time playoff steals, and second in NBA all time playoff assists; he is arguably the greatest player of all time. With his recent accomplishment of a bronze medal with USA basketball during the 2024 Athens Olympics, I’m not sure how someone could assume otherwise.

I am Amoni Hueston. A few of my hobbies include drawing/ painting, reading, and indulging in cinema. I have been employed at my job for two years, before I was an employee I volunteered and assisted children with various activities. Including tutoring and physical activity. I graduated high-school with an 4.4 gpa and was apart of the National Honor Society. While in high-school I took two AP classes and a dual enrollment course in anatomy and physiology. These are just a few things to get to know me and the type of individual I am. First I want to start off by saying, I’ve had a rough start to furthering my education. I was accepted to LSU which I attended for my freshman year. I was misled when applying, upon arrival I was told they didn’t have a premed program. This led to me leaving the program. I am a very goal oriented and driven individual so this discouraged me a bit. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into an accelerated nursing program. I say this to say that I still have the hunger to want to reach my career goal. This minor setback has only gave me more strength and an even bigger desire to reach my goals. This scholarship would allow me to get back on track and accomplish my goals of becoming a pediatric nurse. This scholarship will provide me the financial support to help me pay and maintain my spot in this program. This is about more than just winning an award or having financial aid, for me this would be a reward and a privilege to be able to afford my higher education. Since the scholarship will enable me to full-fill my longer term objectives and plans, I think I deserve it. It would work toward my professional aspirations in the medical field by pursuing my biology study further. My overall goal is to improve my community, and this scholarship will undoubtedly help me pay for my education. All in all, I understand that you have other s to dents applying to this award, but I hope that my application will be seen as unique and worth taking a chance on. Throughout the past couple of years I have come face to face with some bumps but nonetheless I have remained resilient. I hope with your help I will be granted the opportunity to further my education.

As someone who grew up in a low-income family, I learned o cherish and appreciate things more. For instance education. For a lot of people, early schoolings such as middle school and high school were just somewhere you had to attend so your parents wouldn't be fined. For me, learning and expanding my knowledge was always more than that. I've always had such an enormous amount of ambition because of the way I grew up. Every award, medal, and congratulations for my academic success was earned from my hard work and dedication when it came to my learning. I believe that having a low-income household gave me an advantage, growing up this way didn't do anything except push me to work hard and make me want to be better and more than what I had when growing up. With all this being said, my goals have done nothing but grow and my accomplishments continue to amaze and exceed my family's expectations. My goal in high school was to attend a great university and maintain distinguished honors throughout my high school career. I did achieve distinguished honors throughout high school, managed to have a 4.5 GPA, and got accepted into Louisiana State University. Though I planned to attend an HBCU, I still believe LSU is a great university that will allow me to grow, learn, and achieve my goal of becoming a Pediatrician. I say all of this to say that I am very deserving of this scholarship. Having this scholarship will make my attendance and academic transition to LSU smoother, not only for me but for my family as well. As an African American student striving to achieve her dreams, this scholarship would be the perfect opportunity for me to be able to gain new opportunities to expand my academic experience. I am interested in furthering my education in medicine and biology, I value my education a lot making me the perfect candidate for this scholarship. Being from a low income family hasn't stopped me in any way just made me stronger and more interested in learning and how to change my own future. I have persevered through the stereotypes formed against people like me, low-income African American students. As someone who grew up with less than others, I did attend some of the bad elementary schools, but I didn't let this stop me. I worked extra hard and made it into a math and science-based middle school and into an honors STEM high school. All in all, I believe that this my experience as a low-income student and my ability to overcome and still accomplish my goals, this scholarship will be the perfect opportunity for me to further my education and make a huge difference in my family's lives.
