As a Jamaican immigrant and first-generation college graduate, I’ve demonstrated the power of perseverance. I was raised in a low-income single-parent household and overcame the challenges of poverty, bullying, and growing up with a visible eye condition. Despite it all, I earned my BA in Broadcasting & Film from Seton Hall University, made the Dean’s List, and became the first in my family to become a university graduate and enter the corporate world. Now, I’m transitioning into tech to become a project manager. Driven by a passion for economic empowerment and helping others rise above systemic barriers, I create finance content, lead a wealth-building connect group, and serve in the Financial Empowerment Ministry at my church. A scholarship would support my career pivot as I pay down my current student loans and allow me to keep empowering others while advancing my own journey.
