My name is Amoi Holmes. I am an aspiring entrepreneur and philanthropist who embodies perseverance. I've endured the challenges of migrating from a third-world country, being raised in a low-income single-parent household, poverty, bullying, and growing up with a visible eye condition. Despite it all, I earned my BA in Broadcasting & Film from Seton Hall University, made the Dean’s List, and became the first in my family to become a university graduate. This accomplishment, though rewarding, came with a host of unexpected economic challenges including early career underemployment, low income, and crippling student loan debt. I wrestled with these challenges for close to a decade despite my repeated efforts to change my situation with little support or guidance. Nevertheless, I’ve remained dedicated. Thankfully, after this rocky start, I’ve been able to leverage my untraditional career journey to rewrite my story and move toward career stability and growth in event marketing. To take the next step in my career, I plan to transition into the tech industry as an event marketing specialist and eventually become a project manager. Driven by a passion for economic empowerment and helping others rise above systemic barriers, I've decided to start personal finance coaching business. A scholarship would support my PMP certification pursuits and help to offset the start-up costs of my personal finance coaching business as I pay down my current student loans, allowing me to continue empowering others while advancing my own journey.
