Pursuing higher education is more than a personal goal for me. It is a commitment to my future and to my family’s legacy. As a high school senior, I plan to attend a four-year university and major in Psychology, with the long-term goal of earning a master’s degree and becoming a child therapist. I want to help young people navigate life’s challenges by providing guidance, support, and practical tools that empower them to grow with confidence. My academic path is driven by both passion and purpose, shaped by my experiences and the desire to create meaningful change. My involvement in activities such as Student Government Association, Rotary, Kinston Teens Digital Literacy Corp, District C, and Teen Teaching has played a major role in preparing me for this journey. Through SGA, I learned how to advocate for others and lead with responsibility. Rotary showed me the value of service and the impact of helping others in my community. In Kinston Teens Digital Literacy Corp, I developed leadership and technical skills while teaching others how to confidently use technology. District C challenged me to work with a team to identify real-world problems and create thoughtful solutions for local businesses. Teen Teaching further strengthened my ability to communicate clearly and support others with patience and understanding. Each of these experiences has shaped my ability to connect with people, think critically, and lead with empathy, all of which are essential in my future career. What inspires me most to pursue higher education is my family and the path I am determined to create. I will be the first grandchild and daughter in my family to earn a degree from a four-year college. That reality motivates me every day. At the same time, I am aware of the financial challenges that can come with pursuing a college education and building a stable future. I have seen how financial struggles can impact opportunities, and I am determined to break that cycle. Earning a degree is not just about personal success; it is about creating stability, opening doors, and setting a new standard for those who come after me. Tracey Davis Memorial scholarship will play a critical role in helping me achieve my goals. It will ease the financial burden of tuition and allow me to focus more fully on my studies and professional development. With this support, I will be able to take advantage of academic opportunities, internships, and experiences that will prepare me for graduate school and my future career. More importantly, this scholarship represents an investment in my potential and in the impact I hope to make in the lives of others. I am committed to working hard, staying focused, and using every opportunity to grow both academically and personally. My goal is not only to succeed, but to give back by helping youth overcome challenges and build strong, confident futures. With determination, support, and the opportunity this scholarship provides, I am ready to take the next step toward making that vision a reality.
