The GEAR UP & TRIO Scholarship
If I could create my dream job after graduation, it would focus on helping athletes to the best of my ability and giving them the peace of mind that they can feel comfortable doing what they love most. Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, from spending weekends at the field to feeling the breeze as I turn many flips. But my passion for helping athletes truly started when someone I love, my cousin, suffered a serious injury while playing football, which he loved. Seeing him go from being confident and full of life to feeling unsure of his future was heartbreaking I watched as he struggled not only with the physical pain but also with the fear of never being able to play again the sport he had loved and played his entire life and the mental battle of wondering if he would ever be ready to return. That experience opened my eyes to how important it is for athletes to have someone in their corner who understands both the physical and emotional toll of an injury. Watching one of my family members slowly regain their strength, with the help of athletic trainers and medical professionals who truly cared, inspired me to pursue a career where I can be that source of support for others. I want to help athletes heal, not just physically but mentally, so they can return to the field with confidence, knowing someone believes in them and their recovery. That personal experience shaped my goals, and now I want to dedicate my career to helping athletes overcome those tough moments and get back to doing what they love most. In my dream job, I would work directly with athletes, whether on the sidelines, in a training room, or at a rehabilitation facility, helping them through every stage of injury and recovery. I would focus not only on their physical health but also on providing emotional support, creating personalized recovery plans, and making sure they feel heard and understood throughout the process. I want to create an environment where athletes know they have someone they can trust, who understands their love for the game and is just as committed to getting them back on the field as they are. My ultimate goal would be to combine my knowledge, passion, and personal experience to make a real difference in the lives of the athletes I work with. Receiving this scholarship would help me take the next step toward achieving my dream of working with athletes and supporting their recovery. With this financial assistance, I could focus more on my education and hands-on experiences, such as internships or certifications, that will prepare me for a career in sports medicine or athletic training. It would also allow me to pursue opportunities to learn from more experienced professionals, attend workshops, and gain the knowledge and skills I need to provide the best possible care to athletes in the future. Most importantly, this scholarship would relieve some of the financial burden on my family, allowing me to fully commit myself to my studies and my passion for helping athletes overcome challenges and get back to doing what they love.
