Bio

Hi, I am a sophomore at Spelman College majoring in Health Science and minoring in psychology. I will become a Trauma surgeon, but since I do not come from a wealthy background, I'm going to start by being a nurse to save up for medical school. I am saving for medical school, but I also have to pay for college. Loans are benefiting me in college, but I'll rather take the loans out for medical school than college. My peers view me as determined, inquisitive, outgoing, and humble. I am a wonderful candidate because of my patience, perseverance, background, self-realization, self-discipline, and integrity. Patience also gives me the self-realization that everything will work out in my favor for the better. Closed doors will open even more when I persist in being me and working hard. Tough times build the type of person you've become. I chose to become a trauma surgeon because of watching a woman get shot in front of me. Ten-year-old me was not thinking about any specialties or careers when watching the incident. This school year February 11th, 2022, my grandmother had a seizure while I was at school. My grandmother was found in asystole for longer than 6 minutes and is now a hospice patient. My mother, auntie, and I takes care of her because she is now a 24-hour hospice patient. We do things such as; clean tracheostomy, feed her through G-tube, give medication, and bathe her. This isn't an excuse for my GPA, but a cause.

    Health & Wellness Scholarship
There are approximately 678,000 deaths each year from unhealthy lifestyles. Living a healthy lifestyle is influential to me the fact of; preventing catching diseases that may run in my family. For example, my great-grandmother and my auntie Cathy died from cancer. To avoid this happening to me, I eat a healthy diet and try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. A healthy diet and prevention of sun exposure are beneficial to live a cancer-free life so that I can be the one in my family to find a cure for cancer. Finding a cure is to help my family and other people going through cancer. Healthy lifestyles are important to me, and I can't force others to live a healthy lifestyle, but I can find a cure to stop the dying of our loved ones. Healthy lifestyles involve avoiding anything that causes intoxication because of watching my uncle die from being addicted to drugs. A healthy lifestyle is meaningful to me because what you put in your body shows how your body will react. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, I don't put any drugs or alcohol in my body because some things are addicting to prevent an unhealthy lifestyle; I don't include or pay for unnecessary addictions in my healthy lifestyle journey. My uncle had a withdrawal; he could speak but could not walk. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle means cutting out extra expenses that could kill you. Did you know that stress plays a part in damaging your immune system, increasing the risk of heart attack, and speeding up the aging process? Stress is something that people can not control instantly. Stress is powerful to ease the tension; I make time for family, and friends, exercise, or play with dogs. A healthy lifestyle consists of trying to learn; how to build your emotional intelligence. Too much stress causes a person to be unfocused, overwhelmed, depressed, have anxiety, or even have suicidal thoughts. A healthy lifestyle gives you peace, but when stress comes your way, a person should have to have the emotional intelligence or find time to uplift themselves.

A Dog Changed My Life Scholarship
Did you know that multiple studies show that pets help soothe stress and anxiety? My dogs changed my life by encouraging me to go outside more. Before having Beauty and Beast, I had social anxiety and wouldn't come outside that often. When my parents got them, I started to walk them and make new friends around my neighborhood. My pets motivated me to go outside, and now I love nature while walking Beauty and Beast. Owning a pet helps relieve stress. Did you know that when dogs look at their owner when pooping, they are looking for safety and security? My dogs and I protect each other. Beauty and Beast impacted my life by always being there when having suicidal thoughts. They always stayed to cuddle or licked me when depressed. They never left my side, and I could always count on them to be by my side. Pets can sometimes be an emotional support system but not your entire support system. I love pets because when I was depressed, my dog helped me repair my physical well-being and mental well-being. I grew up with multiple pets, and all of them taught me something valuable. Beauty and Beast were there throughout my teen years, and they have taught me the most about literally everything. Beauty taught me that women could be stronger than men. Beast helped me discipline myself to work out with him. I love how pets teach humans about physical well-being, mental wellbeing, genuine people, etc. Dogs will forever be my best friend because they never let me down.

When five years old, my Iguana was scary, but I observed and learned that animals shed. When I was five, I also had a cat who taught me about hygiene because the cat would lick itself, and I wanted to be like the cat. Beauty and Beast were there throughout my teen years, and they have taught me the most about literally everything. I love how pets teach humans about physical well-being, mental wellbeing, genuine people, etc.
    Bold Goals Scholarship
My Goals for the future is to graduate college with a dual degree in chemistry to become a doctor and a nurse. I would love to find my soulmate by the time I graduate college but if not that's alright. Then I will become a nurse while taking a couple of gap years to pay for medical school. While being a wonderful nurse I will continue studying for the MCAT and once I get 200,000 I will take the MCAT exam. Once I pass I will go to medical school and then go to residency to become a surgeon.
    Bold Nature Matters Scholarship
Nature makes you feel better mentally and emotionally. Nature plays a part in physical well-being, reducing blood pressure, and heart rate. I love the sound of birds, watching the sunrise, the smell of flowers and plants. I try appreciating nature by recycling trash and picking up trash outside. I try to appreciate nature by going outside for a picnic or just for a walk. Now that I go to school in Georgia I get to sit in a hammock literally everyday besides when it is raining. Nature can be a decompresser from a hardship day or a wonderful way to start your day.
    Bold Study Strategies Scholarship
The studying strategy that I use to achieve my academic success is to start off with a good 30 minute workout. I would then start doing work for four hours and once my timer go off I take an hour break and start back doing work for two hours. Afterwards I take a breather or close my eyes for five minutes once that timer go off I either clean room, eat or do something that does not involve a screen for 30 minutes and finish with an extra hour of doing work or studying.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
I deserve this scholarship because It will really benefit me and I am very dedicated. Others will either drop out in another year or quit but not me. My academic goal is to first bring up my 2.5 gpa to a 3.4 and my career goal is to pass the MCAT with a 510 to get accepted into med school. While I am waiting I am getting a dual degree to become a nurse while waiting. A time I overcame an obstacle was when I had to help my grandma with a tracheostomy and her G tube. Another time was when my mom would not give me ownership, respect, and empathy but instead treat me like I am a kid and get mad when I tried helping or expressed how I felt. My opinion was nothing to her and she said that multiple time so I had to start providing for myself because she would throw it in my face.
Gladys Ruth Legacy “Service“ Memorial Scholarship
I leverage my uniqueness by being myself and being humble. I am not afraid of failure but I will cry if I fail. I am organized and I plan literally everything so if anything gets off track all I have to do is replan it. I enjoy learning new things and I am very dedicated to my goals. I leverage my uniqueness to become the future me and If you are watching me you'll see me as a young woman working on herself and her goals to success. Failure only happens if you give up and that is why I am not afraid of “failing” because it is an essential part of the experimental process that gets you to success. Procrastination happens that is why I give myself a 2 hour break after studying for four hours. During the break I would either take a nap, do chores while listening to music, or watch my favorite tv show. Enough discipline helps me stop watching my favorite tv show to finish my work by giving myself a goal and when accomplished I will treat myself with something. I leverage my uniqueness by motivating myself out loud or writing it down. I am audacious and confident on what is right. I am different because I will patiently take my time to my goal. No one is perfect and everyone takes a different pace at life. I planned my academic schedule until I graduate college, the grades to bring my gpa up, and how my mindset should be. It will not be realistic to believe I will get all A’s and plan that so I did not but that is a goal. If my goal gets off track I will replan the goal to a realistic goal and stay disciplined and determined about it. I leverage my uniqueness by taking steps to accomplish each goal I have mentally, intellectually, and physically. Learning new things enhances your creativity and knowledge. I am open to new things and it is very exciting to learn new prospects in life. Once I started learning new things you could either like or not but nothing can go wrong. When I am invested in something that I know things about nothing can change my mind or because I fell in love and want to succeed at it. I am a bit of a neophile because I like planning and organizing after something changes plus nothing in life is really consistent. In conclusion, I leverage my uniqueness to become the future me and If you are watching me you'll see me as a young woman working on herself and her goals to succeed. I leverage my uniqueness by motivating myself out loud or writing it down. I leverage my uniqueness by taking steps to accomplish each goal I have mentally, intellectually, and physically. I leverage my uniqueness by making sure I accomplish goals that seem hard to do. I am unique because after a circus of hard times I can still pick myself up and keep going. Freshman year of college my grandma almost died from brain bleed and I still was able to finish my first semester of college in a different state without helping her get back on her feet and I am strong for that.

College graduates' finance gap versus people with less education continues to change tremendously. College may not be needed for the beginning of certain jobs but for a promotion it may be required within the company.
