Bio

I am a single mother of two wonderful children! My ultimate goal is to become a Child Psychologist! I plan to attain my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and become a second grade teacher. From there I aspire to return to school once again, with a little experience under my belt, to work towards my masters in Psychology! My passion behind my goals are derived from a childhood of poverty, filth, abuse and negligence I myself experienced first hand. I desire to be a positive influence as well as a role model for as many children as possible! I would even like to write books on my own personal experiences and studies one day! I have always excelled in everything I have ever set out to do. I know that this journey in my life will be nothing less than exceptional! Because of my situation as a single mom, I have had some set backs on the path to further my education. However, by doing so now I feel as though I am setting a great example to my children that absolutely NOTHING is impossible! I know beyond a shout of a doubt that I deserve this opportunity to peruse my dreams and be the best version of myself! So please, consider me for your scholarship. I guarantee that with just a little financial help, I can one day make a positive impact in the world for the lives of ALL of our children!!! Thank you for your time and consideration! From a grateful heart, Amber Burgess. <3

In my time as a student, I have faced many obstacles. As a teenager in high school, I went from public school to homeschool to homeless and eventually a “dropout”. However, no matter what was thrown my way, I always found my way back on the right track through hard work and perseverance! I have always enjoyed school and excelled in my academics! Growing up, school was never made a priority. My father never made it past middle school and my mother...well I’m still uncertain of the truth behind her. I have five sisters and two brothers. So far, we have ALL been pulled out of school at some point to enroll in a homeschooling program which we ultimately never get to finish. I am the third oldest of the lot and I am the only one to seek and attain any further education. I was able to sign up for a GED program back in 2016, take all my tests in one day, and walk with the graduating class all in under a week! With no preparations, I jumped in full force and was successful! Receiving a GPA of 3.2! For this, I am beyond proud of myself! I hope to be an inspiration to not only my siblings but my two young children as well! Did I mention I am also a single mom!? I have worked very hard to get to where I am and have no intentions of slowing down or turning back at any point! Going to college I aspire to earn my BS in Early Childhood Education. With this, I plan to begin my career as a second-grade teacher! Next, the good stuff starts! I wish to continue my education to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology focused on children and adolescence. Acquiring this degree will help put me on my path of achieving my ultimate goal as a Child Psychologist! From here I will push to further my education even more by returning to school yet again to earn my PsyD! I would love to have my very own practice one day as well as be able to write books pertaining to my personal experiences and studies. My goals are derived from a very personal place. As a child, I lived a not-so-desirable life. Amongst poverty, filth, abuse, and negligence, I had no one to turn to. I never knew about love or basic human decency. I always wished to have someone to confide in but was denied even that. Because of my own childhood, I am extremely passionate about pursuing my dream job. I want to be the shoulder to cry on, the ear to listen, and the heart to love and care for all the children in the world. Now I know that I may not actually get to reach EVERY child, but it is definitely something I am ready to push and fight for! Our children need to know just how special and deserving they really are! This is my plan. This is my Dream. I am here to do the work! Whatever it takes, I will find a way to make a difference in the lives of all children alike! I promise to listen and understand with patience and love. To do anything I must in order to assist in the success of our future, OUR CHILDREN! With this scholarship, you could help make this dream a reality. Thank you for your time and consideration. From a very grateful heart!
