Hii my name is Amber, and I am a first-generation Latina student. I’m seventeen years old, I love being creative with makeup and my hair. I come from a family of three, my mom, my older brother, and me. As of December of 2020, it’s just me and my mom because my brother lost his fight with his mental health, because of this I will become the first high school graduate and the first to go to college. I enjoy being in school and learning about new topics, unfortunately for me, I was diagnosed with chronic migraines in fifth grade, and it disrupted my attendance horribly. Middle school was rough because of it but as time went on, I found better ways of managing it. When high school started, I found student government unconventionally and it was the best thing to happen to me. I joined right after my brother’s passing, it swept me away and I was involved in school, even virtually. I’m halfway through my high school experience and have been able to keep up with honors classes, and extra-curricular activities including being the student body treasurer in stugo, Be a Leader club, cosmetology club, academic decathlon, NHS, soccer and volleyball.
