My name is Amber Alaniz and I will be graduating this June. I will be seventeen when I graduate and be in the top twenty five percent of my class. I plan to earn a degree in veterinary medicine. I plan to use my degree and work at a veterinary clinic or some sort of rehabilitation center for animals. I always loved animals, ever since I was little I loved being around animals. I've grown up owning different kinds of animals from fish to a turtle to dogs and even a goat. My grandfather owns a ranch and he's had donkeys and horses there, I loved being around them.
I've lived in Italy for a year and traveled in Europe while I lived there. I enjoy baking, painting, and being around my dogs. I didn't get my first dog until I was thirteen, I wanted a dog for the longest time but we didn't have time for a dog at that time. We got my first dog while we lived in Italy, he was 5 months old and was a cane corso named Faust. I think Faust sparked my interest in the veterinary field. I recently got another dog for Christmas, he was a 3-month-old Goldendoodle. My dogs have made me want to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. Even though they can't speak, they have been there whenever I needed someone to just be there for me. It felt like they could understand how I was feeling.
I think someone who has impacted my life the most would have to be my mom. My mom was a teen mom and still managed to get a master's degree with two kids. She has had a lot of obstacles in life and I think it has motivated me to go above and beyond like she has done for me time and time again. My mom has always been there for me and supported me in whatever decision I make next. Even though our relationship hasn't been perfect, my mom always made sure I knew that I could be whatever I wanted to be and do whatever I wanted to do. She has made sure I knew that it's been okay not to know what my next step in life is and has been there supporting my next step. She has made sure I knew she is proud of whatever I do in life. All she wants for me is to be happy and be the best I can be and for that, she has impacted my life the most.

I've always wanted to make a positive impact on the world ever since I was little. I wanted a career that will help others in some way shape or form. I've volunteered many times and during those times, it made me feel good to do my part and help someone else. Even though I didn't see the result, it felt good knowing it could help make someone else's day better. When I first started volunteering I didn't know what to expect. I didn't expect to get anything out of it but it was amazing how I felt after. I met many other people who loved volunteering and I felt like I helped people in my community. I saw how little things can make a bigger impact than what you think.
I've volunteered at my church and school, from wrapping gifts for an angel tree to making cards for the senior home by my school. Each time, I dedicated all my time to helping someone else. Volunteering is something I enjoyed volunteering and I plan to continue while I go to college. I would especially love to volunteer at a rescue center for animals.
I plan to continue to make a positive impact on the world through my career and to continue volunteering. I plan on going into the veterinary field and help not only people in my community but their furry friends. I know pets can mean a lot to people and I would like to get my education to help an animal someone else loves. I was accepted into Purdue University to get a degree in veterinary medicine and halfway through my schooling, I will have to intern or volunteer at a veterinary clinic. This will allow me to continue some sort of volunteer work and continue helping those in my community. Not only do I plan to volunteer through my schooling but I plan to help those when I can like donating clothes or money. I think it's the little things that count. I feel like I'm a sympathetic person and that is what pushes me to help others in any way I can. I rather help someone in need first before myself. To volunteer or donate you don't have to spend any money it is more about what comes from the heart. All you need to give is your time and I think that's what matters most.

My name is Amber Alaniz, I'm seventeen years old and I will be graduating this June. I have a 4.0 GPA and I am ranked 106 out of 415 in my graduating class. I am a hard worker, motivated, and always strive to do my best. I want to be successful and getting my education will fulfill that. Throughout my 4 years in high school, I enjoyed my time in High school and had many experiences. Not only did I enjoy my classes and enjoy the time I spent with friends but I enjoyed the times I volunteered and helped others. I am sad that it is already over and I now understand how the past 4 years can pass. It is within a blink of an eye. I was involved in athletics, I was a junior varsity cheerleader my sophomore year and a varsity cheerleader my junior year. I was inducted into the National Honors Society in my junior year and still am involved in the club. I helped make things for the senior home and attend meetings. I was also involved in the Ladies of total image club. I attend church on Fort Bragg and volunteer there for my community. I was involved in the youth class last year and involved in volunteering with my church. I have helped out in the children's classes and helped those in need. When I was younger, I always helped my mom in her classroom when she taught 2nd grade. I helped her from setting up her classroom to organizing papers. I also have enjoyed seeing what teachers do and can see how teachers love teaching. I enjoy painting, baking, candle making, traveling, and cooking. Painting and baking are my biggest talents. I enjoy seeing the result and the anticipation of seeing the result. I have baked things from cookies, and cupcakes, to scones, and even croissants. In the last two years, some financial hardships I and my family experienced were my grandmother and great-grandfather passing away. My father also deployed twice to Germany in the same year. Despite my impact on my community during my high school years, I plan to continue positively impacting my community when I move on to college. Getting a higher education and receiving a degree in veterinary medicine will allow me to help my community on another level. Not only will I help them but I will also help their loved ones. I will also help the health of the community by making sure their pets are healthy as well. I plan to help society the best I can and do my part in each person's pet's life. Animals are just as meaningful as humans and I plan to help them the best I can.

My biggest role model is my mom. I know that's what most people say, but it's true. My mom was a teen mom at fifteen and still finished high school. She was caring for my older brother while going to school. She had me when she was twenty-one and even though she already had two kids she still worked hard to get her higher education. She got her bachelor's and then master's in education. My mom lived with my dad's family and never really had a strong connection with her family. Her only support was my grandparents. My dad was in the military and when he deployed she was alone. My mom always worked hard to give me and my siblings a better life and always make sure that we knew we could do whatever we wanted to do and be whatever we wanted to be in life. She made sure that we pushed ourselves and did well in school. Even though my parents didn't have a lot of money growing up, my parents still made sure we had everything we needed and the things we wanted.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be someone that helped others and be in the medical field. I've bounced off careers and paths for a while. My mom always supported what I wanted to do. I know she just wants me happy doing whatever career I choose to do. She always tells me she didn't know either and her career happened by an opportunity she had. It showed me some things are just meant to happen. Now that it is time for me to decide, I became unsure. I didn't want to do something I thought I enjoyed and then be an unhappy person working. It started to become real and it hit me. My mom always gave me advice and said it's okay not to know. Now she's starting to let me adult more and be more independent. She's preparing me to become an adult and be able to deal with real life. She's done her best to prepare me and make sure I have all the support I need. I look up to her because even though she had a child young and other hardships, she still did it for her family and to be successful. Despite the ups and downs in our relationship, I feel like she's always made sure I valued myself and knew how much potential I have.
