This August, I will complete my Bachelor's degree in Communication from Ensign College. This upcoming graduation marks the culmination of significant effort and dedication, undertaken while managing the responsibilities of being a working mother to three wonderful children. My decision to pursue higher education was purposeful: to transition into grant writing, a profession where I can directly support initiatives that make a tangible difference. Nonprofit organizations are fundamentally important to me. In a national environment often marked by political gridlock, these organizations and the generous foundations that partner with them consistently demonstrate the capacity to enact positive change in the world. My communication degree has equipped me with strong foundational skills in strategic communication and persuasive writing, all directly applicable to grant development. To further enhance my ability to serve the nonprofit sector effectively, I am seeking to obtain a Grant Writing Certificate from DePaul University. This certificate program will further equip me with the specialized knowledge and practical skills required to successfully research, write, and manage grant proposals. Possible selection would mean more than just supporting my individual goals and dreams; it would be an empowering ripple effect that extends far beyond my personal growth. An investment in this education will result in an improved ability for me to help secure vital funding for critical nonprofit initiatives. Any scholarship would profoundly benefit the nonprofit organizations where I plan to volunteer and work for the remainder of my career. With the DePaul University Grant Writing Certificate, I intend to become a proficient advocate for nonprofits, particularly those working in crucial areas such as human services and mental health services. This scholarship would be instrumental in translating my deeply held values into concrete action, allowing me to effectively contribute to building a better world.
