As a single mom I pride myself on be able to give my child the things I never had. I had my son and went back to school 5 months later because I was determined to complete my BBA degree despite what the "nay Sayers" had to say because to them I was young and for lack of better words throwing my life away and never going to finish school. little did they know my child would be the motivation I needed. Graduating with a business degree was my goal and I accomplished it, but goals change. After graduating I began working in the medical field as an administrator. However once I began to work directly with patients something in me changed and now more than ever I realize I want to be able to do more in this field. If the COVID pandemic has taught me anything it's life is short, tomorrow is never promised and if I'm able to aid in the health of one individual then I know that have a purpose in this line of work. Administration is one thing, but to be a nurse and actually be on the front lines making a difference, THATS where I aim to be. Not only will my son see that it's ok to change course in your life but that I did it without fear, without anyone holding me back and that I never gave up no matter how hard it got. No one wants to go through life wondering about the what if's, I know this because I've done it for way to long. It's time I began implementing change, using what I've learned working in the medical field to advance a career in nursing. I'm no stranger to hard work, my son see's and knows that but I can't wait till my graduation day, whether I walk the stage or sit virtual with my cap and gown or nurses uniform, my son will be there to see and cheer "mommy did it and so can I". I want a make a difference in his life and those who need the help and care from nurses all over to keep pushing through. It's been said " Life is what happens when your busy making plans" well I'm ready to get started!!!!
