I am a single mother of 2 beautiful, mixed children. They are everything to me, and I have decided to go into a career in cosmetology to give them more of my time but also so I can work and be a single mother at the same time. I want them to learn that nothing is free in this world and if they want something they need to work for it. Nothing in this world is easy, but if you want something all you have to do is put your mind to it and you can accomplish it. I want to be in this field of work because I love doing hair and nails but I also want to learn further. Having mixed children is a challenge some days with their hair but I know if I learn more of it then it will be easier. I am the one in my family that my cousins and family members come to me and ask me to do their hair and nails. When I finished their always smiling and so happy with the turnout of what I did for them. This feeling is amazing for me. I have worked in the customer service industry for over 15 years, and being able to give that feeling to customers that they love what I do makes me feel like I am making a difference. Yes, you have days where it won't feel like this but the good days outweigh the bad. Making a customer's day good on a bad day for them is something I will always cherish. Being able to do these things while being a single mother shows the kids that I can do anything as I put my mind to it. The three of us have been victims to domestic violence, but I try every day to show the girls that that does not define us and that we can do anything. I want my kids to know that anything they put their minds to they can accomplish. That nothing will just happen because they want it to. The career that I first went for is something that you can not do and be a single mother unless you are with someone else while you are working. As a single mother, I want them to know I put that rest and pursued a different career to make sure they had their mom while also allowing her to have a job to take care of them.
