One of the humanitarian acts I currently engage in is outreach to people experiencing homelessness. When I go out, I’m not just trying to hand someone something and walk away. I’m there to remind them they are human, they are seen, and they still matter. I talk to them, ask how they’re doing, and listen without judging. I’ve met people who haven’t heard their name said with kindness in a long time. Sometimes a conversation does more than we realize, because it restores dignity. My role during outreach is being present: offering encouragement, listening, and supporting people emotionally and spiritually when they’re open to it. If someone wants prayer, I pray with them. If they just need someone to hear them, I listen. Service also shows up in my passion for working with youth. Through my work experience in behavioral and mental health settings as a Behavioral Technician/Behavioral Health Technician, I’ve supported kids who struggle with emotional regulation, trauma responses, and behavioral challenges. Many of them have never had consistent guidance, patience, or healthy structure. In those moments, I learned something important: change doesn’t come from punishment it comes from consistency, understanding, and not giving up on people. Whether it’s a child acting out or a person on the street feeling hopeless, I see a human being who needs support, not shame.
My educational goals are directly connected to my desire to keep giving back. I’m pursuing higher education so I can strengthen my skills and expand the impact I’m able to make in my community. My goal is to earn my bachelor’s degree and continue into graduate-level education so I can work in higher-level behavioral and mental health roles. With more training and credentials, I want to be able to do more than help in the moment I want to help build long-term solutions: better programs, stronger support systems, and real guidance for people who feel stuck. In the future, I want to keep serving through outreach and through my career, combining compassion with professional skill. I want to be someone my community can rely on someone who helps people heal, grow, and rebuild. Education is not just for my success; it’s a tool that will help me serve at a higher level for the rest of my life. Moving forward, I want to be someone who doesn’t just respond to problems, but helps prevent them. With the right education, I can help connect people to resources, teach coping skills, and support long-term healing. My goal is to be a steady light in my community consistent, trustworthy, and willing to serve even when no one is watching.
